Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

Wine cool drinks for people who need cooling down.Flowers

I'm sitting in the garden,it's cool,I'm making the most of it ,it's bound to get muggy later!

Fortunately I don't think we have good insulation (early 70s house) and I've informed dh we are NEVER moving to a well insulated one!

LoafofSellotape · 18/07/2019 20:50

Mon,Tues, weds looks hell here next week. 27-30 degrees😞

RosaWaiting · 18/07/2019 20:54

Initially the whole week looked hellish but it now looks like it will calm down from Thursday.

I have lived in a very cold flat and now this very hot flat. Cold is definitely better. Mum’s house has no insulation and I can understand it’s a nightmare at aged 80 but it was fine when we were growing up and she’s only really moaned about it the last couple of years.

RosaWaiting · 19/07/2019 14:32

All change
Now a 34 for Wednesday Thursday Friday.

LoafofSellotape · 19/07/2019 14:34

32 here Wednesday 😞

Becca19962014 · 19/07/2019 15:10

Today we were to have thunderstorms from 6am-2pm and "torrential rain".

Instead we got occaisonal showers and horrendously muggy horrible weather. When it actually rained and I was out I just sat in it enjoying it as people walked past me looking Shock with big coats on! They must have been boiling, it was still around 22c.

I hate the weather.

Becca19962014 · 19/07/2019 15:12

Our forecast is useless! Keeps changing.

Thunder at 6pm, 10pm and 2am now supposedly.

I won't be holding my breath I'll be plotting the downfall of the fairies, pitchforks at the ready

BrendasUmbrella · 19/07/2019 15:23

I'm going to get my arse in gear and clean the house this weekend so that I can do the bare minimum when it gets super hot. I had to clean the house for unexpected guests in the middle of the heatwave this time last year and it nearly finished me off.

BrendasUmbrella · 19/07/2019 15:27

I stare longingly at this fridge magnet all summer...

It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.
Becca19962014 · 19/07/2019 15:32

Moomins!!! I love the Moomins!! I've all the DVDs from the series in the 80s and books and cuddly toys

Becca19962014 · 19/07/2019 15:33

Welcome need all are welcome here, well as long as you hate the hot weather that is!! Grin sorry I missed your post before!

Hellishot · 19/07/2019 18:07

Next week's forecast looks horrific.

Does portable air con not work well? I was all set to get one (hose out window type) because the fans just blow hot air in here.

Seriously think I might have to stay somewhere for a few days if portable air con doesn't work. It really was torture in this flat last year. Heatwaves are bloody expensive for those of us who suffer!

Love Moomins too btw.

StormcloakNord · 19/07/2019 18:10

Jesus, I have people.

I cannot stand the heat either and in my social circle I'm the odd one out. I get bad hayfever, I sweat too much and it just absolutely kills me. Everyone else is loving it, out in their gardens down at the beach and I'm just lying here like an overcooked potato trying to find excuses to stay indoors.

Weh°♧!!

LoafofSellotape · 19/07/2019 19:24

Air con units work as long as you keep the doors to the room shut.

MotherofPearl · 20/07/2019 07:18

I'm due to be in Paris for a few days next week where the temp on Wednesday is set to be 41c. Gulp. I'm actually terrified.

RosaWaiting · 20/07/2019 10:04

What's Paris like for air con etc?

MotherofPearl · 20/07/2019 11:39

The hotel is air conditioned but not sure about elsewhere. Might be forced to lie low in the hotel though we'd been planning some sightseeing.

Hellishot · 20/07/2019 11:59

Thanks, Loafofsellotape. I hope I can get one delivered in time.

Motherofpearl, I'm scared enough about London's temperature next week. You poor thing!

Last night was lovely. Rain, breezy, I stood by the windows making the most of it.

LoafofSellotape · 20/07/2019 12:03

Really windy here today,if only it could stay like this!!!

RosaWaiting · 20/07/2019 12:11

Oh
Paris is holiday? I was picturing work and thinking conference rooms with air con....

I guess that day might have to be a non sightseeing day. Do museums and galleries have air con? I can spend hours in galleries.

MotherofPearl · 20/07/2019 18:02

Yes Paris is a holiday, just a short and rather last minute one. Good thinking about galleries and museums. I love galleries anyway, and they're bound to be cool.

Becca19962014 · 21/07/2019 10:30

Good luck with Paris!

I'm terrified. It's supposed to be hottest here on Tuesday and that's the only day I have to get food as I've appointments all week.

Terrified..

LoafofSellotape · 21/07/2019 10:31

Get up really early and go shopping the second the nearest shop is open? Or a delivery?

LoafofSellotape · 21/07/2019 10:32

I've just changed the beds and am doing the washing and hoovering so I get away with the minimum over the next few days. Dull and breezy here today so far.

Becca19962014 · 21/07/2019 10:54

Bit of breeze here but fairies saying its 20c. Definitely hotter.

Had some bad news as well. Dreading shopping Sad
