It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

I’ve had enough already. My prickly heat is back, which is never a good look.

TantricTwist · 01/06/2019 23:15

I'm not the biggest fan of summer these days but today was lovely, not to hot and I prepped and shaved my legs so at least if it's hotter tomorrow I can get my legs out without too much trouble.

Singlenotsingle · 01/06/2019 23:17

I went for a stroll around town today. Everyone had their legs out - short shorts, short skirts, t-shirts, cutaways, floppy hats.
General happiness all round, it was hot, but not too hot yet. 27°C is ok but storms are expected tomorrow! That'll stop all that cheerfulness! Grin

ExpletiveDelighted · 01/06/2019 23:31

The humidity was worse than the actual temperature today, luckily it was somewhat overcast. Hoping for fresher weather tomorrow.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 01/06/2019 23:38

Dressing for the office in hot weather is utterly hideous, trying to find clothes that are cool, comfortable and professional is just awful, it’s fine at home when you can just throw on a vest top, flip flops and a pair of shorts but I can’t wear things like that to work. Winter dressing is so much easier.

SapphireSeptember · 01/06/2019 23:41

I live for thunderstorms in the summer, and pray for rain. Another drought like last year? No thank you. Trees going yellow and dropping their leaves in July, parched grass, people having to feed their animals with winter supplies, etc?

If anyone willing to join me in getting funny looks, there are umbrellas that you can get on ebay that have anti-UV linings (they're also waterproof, so work both ways.) Cue "Why are you holding an umbrella, it's not raining!" Oh how witty, it's a parasol, you berk. Portable shade! (I also have a selection of fans, most useful.)

For those of use who dislike high temperatures and prefer the cold, I was so inactive last summer, unless I had to leave the house I was lying on my bed in front of the fan in a pair of knickers, trying not to move (unless it was to fetch an ice lolly.) I overheat even in the winter! I suppose the bonus is I don't eat much when it's hot.

It got up to 27C today in Cambridgeshire, I'll gladly swap for rain!

And don’t get me started on running in the heat, I went out at 7pm tonight and it was stifling, much prefer winter weather for running.

DrCoconut · 01/06/2019 23:43

Cool and wet day here. Apart from a couple of warm days there has been no summer for the haters to moan about in this area. Hopefully soon it will be nice weather, we get about 50 weeks of grey misery each year usually. The warmth and good quality light make a huge difference to my mood and energy levels, I get twice as much done.

Hotterthanahotthing · 01/06/2019 23:44

I had my cardy on all evening, might take off the winter duvet soon but it's nice and snug at the moment.

SapphireSeptember · 01/06/2019 23:45

Hello Rosa! I remember you talking about your flat and how hot it was. I've moved since last year and my window faces south west, lovely. (Not.) Okay, so it's lovely in the winter because I have a gorgeous view of the sunsets, but not right now! Window open and curtains closed.

It’s been passing down in Scotland and today it the high was 17c....would love some sun!

sweetkitty · 01/06/2019 23:51

Bugger off the lot of you, I’m Scottish and am sure I’m a cold blooded lizard. Just snuggled down under my two duvets. It rained for 2 days non stop this week, had heating back on it was so cold and damp.

I love the heat, 27 would be bliss for me, 23 would be a good Summers day here.

ExpletiveDelighted · 01/06/2019 23:53

27 is way too hot for me, 23 is about the maximum I'm comfortable in and I hate the feel of hot sun on my skin.

HelenaDove · 02/06/2019 00:17

Yep i was on last years threads too. Its already unbearable to have the cooker on in the tiny galley kitchen of my one bedroom flat.

SkintAsASkintThing · 02/06/2019 02:58

Move to Cumbria.......it's been gloriously dull and drizzly here.

Deathraystare · 02/06/2019 07:38

Well I would not want it much hotter than yesterday. However I have got my maxi dresses out and worn them. Only to work. I couldn't walk around much in them or I would need chub rub on my thighs!

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 02/06/2019 08:01

All the other people in the park enjoying the hot weather, particularly with barbecues and picnics, can fuck right off. It has turned dog walking into a mixture of running the gauntlet meets competitive obedience.

Most picnickers round here are 20-somethings, often students, and most of them seem to be missing the family dog and desperate to touch any dog in the vicinity. Some of them try to attract his attention by offering leftover food. My dog does not care for attention from strangers, so I'm spending every walk 'apologising' for the fact he's blanked them, trying to stop them feeding him, making sure the dog doesn't show too much of an interest in the most enticing picnics and trying to stop him burning his nose on abandoned but still hot bbqs. There's a special place in hell reserved for the person who dropped cooked chicken bones in the grass - they can kill a dog.

The lack of daylight hours for dog walking in winter is inconvenient, but at least you can get through a walk without fifty people trying to grope your dog.

bl00dyminecraft · 02/06/2019 08:16

Was I the only one in a jumper then Hmm Grin

I am pretty much permanently cold all year round. Although, last Summer when it reached high 20's/low 30's I did where a long sleeved top Smile.

ExpletiveDelighted · 02/06/2019 08:18

I'm the other way round, it has to be below zero before I do a coat up, I'm always hot.

FrenchBoule · 02/06/2019 08:25

@DrCoconut do you live somewhere close to me? To all summer haters: forecast for my area in the next week is around 12-14 degrees with rain pissing every day so enjoy your warmth 🙂

Alwaysgrey · 02/06/2019 08:39

@SapphireSeptember we’re south of you just across in Essex.

I’ve just walked the dogs and it’s roasting here already. I just don’t like the humidity. It makes me grumpy and ragey as it does my children with autism.

Rockbird · 02/06/2019 08:46

Me too Expletive. A combination of menopause and general fatness means I run at about 20° hotter than everyone else. I hardly ever wear coats. I'm boiling in the winter!

TapasForTwo · 02/06/2019 08:56

I need to move south. 26 degrees is perfect for me Smile

dottiedodah · 02/06/2019 08:57

We are away this week for a few days (UK) so keeping fingers crossed for some sun!,Seriously though, I feel better when the son is shining and can get out and about.September is my favourite month,( birthday an all)!. Dont like scorching sun and temperatures ,but not keen on cold wet winter either.

Nousernameforme · 02/06/2019 08:58

Ahh here are my people. I was both sweaty and sticky yesterday which is disgusting.

Ds is already running from sun cream other ds suffers dreadfully with hayfever and can't go out without his face exploding even on antihistamines.
Dd hates the heat and will stay in every availible opportunity and other d's insists on a hoody everywhere and I am worried about heat stroke.
