We haven’t for ages but did tonight. Is it weird or just something couples do? We used to massively before kids btw so nothing out of the usual.

No never. I hate it when he does it with the children. Not sure if it is the noise or the conflict I don't like.

BastardGoDarkly · 12/05/2019 21:17

No, I've never really 'got' why couples do?

Billballbaggins · 12/05/2019 21:19

No I find it too weird. One of my best friends loves play fighting with her DP, I just think it’s bizarre. She probably thinks I’m the weird one. Whatever makes you happy is all good in my book.

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 12/05/2019 21:19

As in whip him/me with a tea towel, try and trip him up or shove each other if we walk past, yes, often!

AC12vsOCG · 12/05/2019 21:19

Nope, never have. Find the idea a bit childish

CocoDeMoll · 12/05/2019 21:21

As in give each other dead arms and properly fight like you’re in street fighter Blush

OP posts:
SallyWD · 12/05/2019 21:23

Never!

AnyFucker · 12/05/2019 21:23

Never.

We don't take pleasure in hurting each other

When one person is bigger, stronger and heavier I just think "playfighting" can be a cover for physical abuse

Maybe it isn't in your situation, but in that case why are you posting here ?

Nofunkingworriesmate · 12/05/2019 21:23

A slap on the bum, pretend to be a ninja yes, rolling around on the floor punching each other not so much,
As long as it's consentual and mutually fun do what ever floats your boat

hopeishere · 12/05/2019 21:25

No. That's very odd and super childish.

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 12/05/2019 21:25

It is very childish but life is rather adult and proper so it’s a bit of light relief from the full on tbh.

Never hurt each other, dead arm would make me sulk and I’m not strong enough to even trip him let alone hurt him, it’s always appropriate and mutual messing about.

CocoDeMoll · 12/05/2019 21:25

I’m tiny but feisty and give as good as I get but onviously he’s a lot bigger! He’s sorry if I’m hurt like I had a proper dead arm but it was a joke.

OP posts:
KnifeAngel · 12/05/2019 21:27

No, never. I don't see why anyone would.

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 12/05/2019 21:27

A joke is only a joke if it’s funny to both of you? I wouldn’t be impressed with that.

Aimily · 12/05/2019 21:27

We haven't for a while, we'd do the things as described by @cheeky as well as throwing each other on the bed/sofa (him more than me) I think atm he's worried about actually hurting me or causing damage to the baby, so is more softly softly with his approach to me iyswim?
My mum and dad have always play fought, dad used to throw her over his shoulder, not sure he could do it in his mid 50s though 😂 he would also play fight with my brother growing up.

babysharkah · 12/05/2019 21:27

Nope. Sounds odd to me. Giving you a dead arm isn't playing is it?

CocoDeMoll · 12/05/2019 21:27

We were both laughing but he’s way stronger.

OP posts:
FlibbertyGiblets · 12/05/2019 21:29

He gave you a dead arm? Shock

No. We don't playfight.

Samind · 12/05/2019 21:30

We do too. Dead arms, headlocks etc were always laughing during it though and we call truce easily.(or when we're out of breath) I'm boyish by nature being brought up round a lot of boys. It's definitely not a cover for abuse in our house....

Each to their own. As long as you're both having fun!

And he will know he is way stronger and should adjust his behaviour to this.

Funny mocking about isn’t the same as one person knowing they are able to hurt the other and does so.

Are you ok? If my DH punched me and gave me a dead arm/leg it would very much bloody hurt and I wouldn’t be letting him near me again.

AnyFucker · 12/05/2019 21:31

He hurt you

That is not a "joke" and that is not ok

We don't play fight as in hurting one another. But we mess around and tickle etc! I'm so ticklish so he enjoys that haha.

If he gave me a dead arm though I'd be pretty pissed off! That's something my older brother used to do!!
