We haven’t for ages but did tonight. Is it weird or just something couples do? We used to massively before kids btw so nothing out of the usual.

He’s sorry if I’m hurt like I had a proper dead arm but it was a joke

Why does he keep doing things that hurt you if he’s sorry?

SteveTheSpiderPlant · 12/05/2019 21:38

I don't in my current relationship but did with an ex. It was only ever fun but we could hurt each other and giving the other a dead arm or leg was the poibt of the game.

Wouldn't dream of it in this relationship though it wouldn't feel right.

Chocolate35 · 12/05/2019 21:41

I’m quite surprised at the responses. I play fight with my partner and I love it 😂 We don’t mark or hurt each other but by the end we are laughing like children which is kind of the whole point. Life is hard and being childish is a laugh to me and my husband. I don’t get what’s weird about it.

hidinginthenightgarden · 12/05/2019 21:42

Yes we do! It makes us laugh and to be honest I think you need some fun and laughter in a long-term relationship.
People take themselves wayyyy too seriously!

Wolfiefan · 12/05/2019 21:42

I don’t get how fighting can be called playing. If you fight you want to beat the opposition. I don’t want to “beat” my DH. Confused

Crushedvelvetcouch · 12/05/2019 21:43

Well yes we do but it usually ends up with him getting a hard on......well you did ask Grin

InsertFunnyUsername · 12/05/2019 21:43

Yes, still play fight with my siblings too.

Childish? Probably, we tap out when we've had enough Blush

gamerchick · 12/05/2019 21:43

No, I don't like the thought of knowingly hurting my husband and him me. A dead arm makes a bruise, what could any man get out of deliberately making a bruise on his partner? Hmm

AnyFucker · 12/05/2019 21:44

Physical abuse is quite "serious" tbh

Good for you women in healthy telationships. But "playfighting" where the woman ends up hurt is very often a cover for DV.

AllTeaAllShade · 12/05/2019 21:48

yes we sometimes act out mortal kombat, nevwr anything too extreme like punching or kicking etc It usually starts with a tap on the bum or a tickling match and we tand to try and overpower each other. Neither of us would really hurt the other. I suppose it doesnt help that im a massive tomboy lol

Double0FeckingBollocks · 12/05/2019 21:49

No. On the grounds that I'm not 12.

Wolfiefan · 12/05/2019 21:50

@AnyFucker actually thinking about it “playfighting” is exactly how my arsehole father would have termed some of his actions. In truth there was nothing “play” about it. It was all about him showing he was stronger and overstepping our boundaries but in the name of “fun”.
I don’t want my kids to grow up seeing mum and dad hurt each other for fun. We laugh. Mess about. Make gentle fun of each other (we have running jokes) but we don’t physically hurt or emotionally upset each other.

Persimmonn · 12/05/2019 21:50

We used to when we first got together Blush. It’s really fun, but I was 2 sizes smaller and he could easily overpower me. He still lifts me up and swings me around now really tightly but I always manage to free myself. If we ever wrestled now, the kids would be in on it and my nose would be broken.

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 12/05/2019 21:50

I agree with AnyFucker. He has never hurt me and nor have I hurt him.

Are you ok op?

00100001 · 12/05/2019 21:50

We much about, bit don't hurt each other.
We might "punch" each other in the tummy. Buy its actually just a slow motion punch and putting it in the tummy, and a limp karate chop on the arm. No more than a tap.

I also "pin" him down on the floor with just the power of my index finger.

CocoDeMoll · 12/05/2019 21:51

I suppose it’s just getting to me that I’m obviously easy to defeat.

Cherylshaw · 12/05/2019 21:52

We play fight all the time, I think it's so important to have fun, we have been together 11 years and act like silly teenagers. We are best friends and it shows by us acting like idiots and not taking everything so serious. (We are both 33)
Also I always win

Iwantacookie · 12/05/2019 21:52

Yes we do. Or me and ds2 will submarine dp (When he's lying on floor playing computer we'll sit on him and 1 of us has a periscope tosee)
Exdh actual managed to chip a bone in my wrist play fighting.
I'm not sure the hospital believed me but it's the truth!

Wolfiefan · 12/05/2019 21:52

If your relationship means he has to prove he can defeat you then that’s some messed up power games and not play at all.

Justkeeprollingalong · 12/05/2019 21:54

Nope.

cuppycakey · 12/05/2019 21:57

No. And I would leave any partner who deliberately hurt me physically.

Cherylshaw · 12/05/2019 21:57

I think some of you are taking this a bit too serious, some couples play fight, it dosnt mean their partner is abusing them

TooTrueToBeGood · 12/05/2019 21:58

I suppose it’s just getting to me that I’m obviously easy to defeat.

Why does that bother you? Why does it even register as a concern in your mind? I can't decide if you are incredibly immature or if there is something far more sinister going on between the two of you.

some couples play fight

Do you mean fully functional adults? Surely not.
