Drama in the local Facebook group.

A hairdresser opened up a salon in our village and spammed posted frequently in the village Facebook page about it.

The one and only Admin got annoyed and requested she stop. She kicked off, others joined the fray, pointing out that her posts were better than the ones about dog poo.

The admin archived the group in retaliation. He's just opened it up and announced he's quitting as admin.

So that's our scandal. Any going on in yours? It's better than Coronation Street.

Mainly dog poo, cars parked on pavements and people moaning about new housing developments in ours. Boring.

Orangedaisy · 26/03/2019 22:03

Someone keeps putting up a ‘road closed’ sign on a road that’s not closed. Aiming to stop the traffic. It is working it appears but many are up in arms!

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 26/03/2019 22:05

Gangs of youths hanging around Asda and McDonald’s and making a nuisance of themselves. Then a “debate” about parenting...the people saying it’s the parents job to know where their kids are and what they’re doing and the other side saying a parent can only do so much and they kids are still naughty

TheClaifeCrier · 26/03/2019 22:07

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends that's what is normally in ours, with the added element of rural living leading to posts about escaped sheep.

Orangedaisy that's a pretty genius idea though. Sneaky!

Big ones atm is "youths" being disrespectful, including playing chicken with trams, and 2 local young girls raising money for trinity hospice and appearing on tv.

Usually have complaints about door knockers, cctv footage of people trying car doors at night to see if any are unlocked, and lots of people asking for recommendations.

Santasballsack · 26/03/2019 22:16

Ours is up in arms about a local plumbing firm who have done a shocking job of a bathroom then declared themselves as no longer trading. Its gone mad.

GoldenRuby · 26/03/2019 22:31

@Orangedaisy I think I may be on the same FB group as you. Top of HL?

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 26/03/2019 22:34

Somebodys poor cat went missing and some body else found it in their garden and burried it without trying to find owners, owner distraught as been missing a week, wants the cat exhumed and brought home to her, people who found it refuse. Lots of comments about how its died in first place as only a young cat. A couple of posts about sheep and dog poo, another cat found run over, and somebody wanting carpeting reccomendations. It's all going on.

MadSweeney · 26/03/2019 22:34

Someone from minnesota just shared a local missing teenager. Actually posted 'shared MI, USA.
Don't even know why the fuck she's in the group as she isn't from this village and has no ties to the UK as far as I can see. Baffling.

WhatthehellisplanB · 26/03/2019 22:35

We have a local 'clean litter up' group who post to our local facebook group all the time. Cue much slagging of 'how can these people live like this' and pictures of houses with litter outside.
My house was pictured with the caption 'Disgusting'.
No amount of pointing out its not the householders fault kids throw litter outside-or mine as a bin had blown over in the wind, could convince this dunderheid to shut up.
That and the 'tack attacks', where residents near a local school threw tacks on the road to try and stop inconsiderate parking. that ones still rumbling on I think.

TheClaifeCrier · 26/03/2019 22:47

WhatthehellisplanB Sounds awful! People can be utter wankers at times.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul poor kitty Sad

Somebody was pushed past in the post office yesterday AND they were eyeing up the parcel, it was all theres no respect these days in my blah de blah Grin

Disfordarkchocolate · 26/03/2019 22:53

I joined our local group for this sort of madness and it's really boring, I was very disappointed.

MrsJayy · 26/03/2019 22:55

whatthehell we had garden police in our group a few years back they woukd take photos of grass not being cut or toys in front gardens. Anyway somebody piped up . That is my aunts house she is dying fine you know "Sandra" but you crack on posting your pictures. There is no need for that on fb groups

FrangipaniBlue · 26/03/2019 23:01

A lost bus pas.

Someone wants to know why the police are outside an old abandoned factory.

A post about a badger cull and exchanging our MPs for the badgers.

A rant about drug abusers being given social housing.

All very high brow stuff.

GoodGravy · 26/03/2019 23:02

We get lots of 'watch out for suspicious-looking forrin blokes in a white BMW coming up people's driveways' .
No other info given. Confused

Yousignup · 26/03/2019 23:03

Work (not in UK) frowns upon personal social media, so I was scrolling through DS' when I saw a group set up by a relative of a semi famous sufragette, talking about how proud she is of her famous ancestor. That's all fine, except the ancestor is my great grandma, and the FB page owner is definitely not a relative. In fact, she is someone my mother went to school with, pretending to be her granddaughter. Definitely no relation.

donajimena · 26/03/2019 23:09

Does anyone know who this thieving (derogatory name for traveller) is? Just nicked my wrought iron gates..
Then followed an argument about the use of word rather than the gates!

MrsJayy · 26/03/2019 23:10

Wait a minute somebody stole actual gates Shock

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 26/03/2019 23:11

Ugh mine is so grim.
A bizarre mix of lost wallets, missing persons and paedophile hunting vigilante attacks. (with a caption about how we don't condone this sort of thing but people have an understandable anger and we did warn the housing he shouldn't be here......)
Sometimes you'll just get a pic of some police cars and the comment "Incident on xyz Street. Hope no one is hurt"
Imagine, if you will, Britain First but without the racism. That kind of content.

Stompythedinosaur · 26/03/2019 23:14

Ours is always very nice. This week we have one neighbour offering free eggs to anyone who wants them, a request to borrow a phone charger until next Mon (which has been provided) and a request for a lift to the nearest town and back for shopping at the weekend.

The closest we get to scandal was one man having a rant about people not talking to him when we are gathered to wait for the school bus (this is true, he awkwardly shoehorns rants about his belief that Muslims are evil into all conversations and I avoid him like the plague).

ABC1234DEF · 26/03/2019 23:19

Lots of car/house break ins
Lots of "police/fire/ambulance on XYZ street, anyone know what's going on?"
Few cat posts

My favourite ones are the ones where they find a driving license and ask if anyone knows the person. Their name and address are right there....

PerspicaciaTick · 26/03/2019 23:20

This winter it has mostly been people posting video or stills from Ring doorbells asking if anyone knows who this person is as they are clearly behaving suspiciously.
As we move into summer I predict a renewed focus on youths on bicycles riding about and asking if their parents know where said youths are.

VelvetSpoon · 26/03/2019 23:20

The admin in ours are Remainers and started a thread at the weekend about how everyone should sign the petition. However we are a massively Leave area, so loads of people piled in arguing the toss...anyone swearing got banned (even just using the word shit) and then Admin turned off comments mid-debate Grin

TapasForTwo · 26/03/2019 23:20

We had an illegal rave in our area!
