Drama in the local Facebook group.

A hairdresser opened up a salon in our village and spammed posted frequently in the village Facebook page about it.

The one and only Admin got annoyed and requested she stop. She kicked off, others joined the fray, pointing out that her posts were better than the ones about dog poo.

The admin archived the group in retaliation. He's just opened it up and announced he's quitting as admin.

So that's our scandal. Any going on in yours? It's better than Coronation Street.

OP posts:
NoShoeShops · 28/03/2019 17:21

Someone’s always moaning about there being no shoe shops in my local group. It’s become a bit of a joke.

LittleMy77 · 28/03/2019 17:25

Ours are;
-Dog poo (tbf that ones me, as I am going to kill my neighbors Blush)

  • Claxon on nits outbreak (we're not in the UK and its frowned upon here and your expected to keep your kids home / out of the public eye until they're treated!)
  • Rubbish
  • School places
  • requesting recommendations for plumbers etc

Not nearly as exciting as a month or so ago, when the next-door app outed the local neighborhood alt right facist leader as living in the local town, and the chaos and shit flinging that ensued was something to behold! And it all started with an innocuous lawn sign Grin

KindleAndCake · 28/03/2019 17:38

Don't feed the seagulls, scream a lot of posts.
Dog poo is another, along with pictures!!!!!
Don't feed the swans.
Traffic lights, they love a rant about traffic lights.
More dog poo.
Unruly kids and crappy parenting of said kids.
Name and shame, people yell, with the admins trying to shut it down.
No business adverts, but lots of people asking for recommendations Wink
The outrage of a potential well known fast food restaurant being opened at the edge of town.
Moaning about the local councillors, but no one else willing to step into their shoes.

I love it, better than watching the soap Grin

KindleAndCake · 28/03/2019 17:39

Soaps, not soap Grin

Kobea · 28/03/2019 17:59

Mine has a lot of posts about 'antisocial behaviour' - which really means 3-5 teens wearing tracksuits walking through the estate to see which houses to burgle because it's a quicker route.

Lots of posts about how shoddy the houses are and plenty of comments complaining about the developer. Move then?!

Posts about cars being parked. Not in the middle of the road or in front of someone's front door, just cars parked normally on the pavement like normal drivers do everywhere.

Bins not being collected 6.4 seconds after they're emptied.

People walking 'late at night' (anytime after 10pm). These normally include pictures from CCTV cameras and a caption like 'does anyone know who this is? Came past my house at 10.12pm and then back past at 10.26pm, looked at my garden both times I hope it's not another burglar, everyone check your car alarms are on and make sure you lock your doors'

Kobea · 28/03/2019 18:03

Oh yes and if there is ever an emergency vehicle you can bet there will be picture evidence and live commentary from 50 different neighbours dissecting what is happening.

A woman's daughter went completely apeshit and kicked off at the admin (IRL) as they refused to take down a photo of her elderly mother being carried out of her house on a stretcher after a fall.

GummyGoddess · 28/03/2019 19:30

Nothing much interesting today on mine sadly. A CCTV picture of 4 teenagers in tracksuits with someone saying they broke into their car. Apparently stealing sweets, out of date park passes and a packet of imodium.

That's it Sad

babyno5 · 28/03/2019 20:19

@SoHotADragonRetired sorry deer not dear 😂

Drama in the local Facebook group.
brownbeauty · 28/03/2019 20:28

We have a WhatsApp group for our little cul de sac and lately it's been about random cars going up n down the road very slowly
Sometimes it's a bout a cat that someone owned but it like to be in other ppls houses
Sometimes it's about household objects like how to fix the boiler toilet outside tap etc etc as all houses were built by one companyand fitted with the same gadgets

brownbeauty · 28/03/2019 20:29

I also have a store Facebook page and I'm a member of pages that relate to the type of business I'm in
Lately it's just been a while load of cribbing about a certain type of client

AndWhatNext · 28/03/2019 20:32

Dog shit and fat bergs.

RavenLG · 28/03/2019 20:51

Our local one is boring, lots of the same 'pick up dog poo', 'stop parking like a twat' posts. But we regularly check in with two (same area) for "work". We do work in the area and it's good to know what's kicking off but it's mainly for the drama. There is a 'spotted: town' group and an 'Official Spotted: town" group as there are 2 councillors and they both have sort of formed weird opposing armies of the locals. Both groups despise the other, and often there are infiltrators to slag off the other. One side's councillor is undergoing a court trial for sexual harassment, the other has some history with the BNP.. it makes for interesting Friday afternoon reading.

SherlockSays · 28/03/2019 20:58

We have travellers passing though for a funeral, they've set up in the country park car park so park run has been cancelled. Outrage.

Groovee · 28/03/2019 21:03

If it's not foxes, the many take aways in the area, it's about the police helicopter being out.

acatcalledjohn · 28/03/2019 21:14

I live for the helicopter posts in my local group, to the point I keep an eye out for it if I can hear one hovering.

Another common topic on ours is the new massive block of flats under construction next to Waitrose.

The one local councillor who was on the group flounced about 6 months ago because people were being total dicks to him. A shame, because he was actually very communicative.

Although my recent favourite was the post about the commemorative plaque following the queen's visit in September or October. It looks like a headstone Grin

TheLastNigel · 28/03/2019 21:55

My mums village Facebook was in open warfare recently when a homeless man was seen sleeping rough in the churchyard. Some of the villagers helped him out, paid for him to have meals in the pub, got him a tent, clothes etc-eventually got him to a shelter and then helped him get back home to Portugal where he was from. Amazing people!
Loads of other people in the village disapproved and there we're arguments and nasty letters posted anonymously through doors. One of the 'helpers' husbands was against her getting involved so it was kept a secret from him until one of the disapprovers shopped her.
It went right off on Fb.
Tbh I think it's going the makings of a great British film along the lines of calendar girls and all that sort of schizzle...

DataBreachCentral · 01/04/2019 19:43

@acatcalledjohn

That'll be WLB or WLB(New) then!

acatcalledjohn · 01/04/2019 19:45

Arrowfanatic · 01/04/2019 20:46

Dog poo

Insane school run parking

Complaints that the town has too many charity shops, vape shops & indian takesways but wetherspoons & tesco were refused planning permission.

Youths riding mopeds with no lights on causing a noise nuisance & a scratched car

We used to have a poster do a weekly round up of that weeks posts & it was hysterically funny & the highlight of the week. Sadly he doesnt do it anymore.

Dothehappydance · 01/04/2019 22:10

I have recently moved - the old one was run by the local councillors and heavily monitored, except my part of the area didn't come under them so you were always made to feel a bit bad to be there, but we weren't particularly welcome on our actual councillors page as we weren't from the villages. Mainly people posting pictures of fires.

New area, parking wars at the shops -lots of moaning that you could never get parked at the shops, management for shops installed cameras (admittedly there has been issues with tickets) people now moaning and vowing to never use the shops, seriously moan when they can't get parked and moan when something is done to resolve it.

Usual pictures and posts about the local bad 'un trying car doors and claims of how the area is going to the dogs, updates of aforementioned scallywag now had his collar felt by the local police force.

Lots of posts about damage at the local park and claims of massive gangs of youths beating people up - again proof the area is going to the dogs and all parents are rubbish.

Moans about a new road layout - mainly due to sh*t drivers, but obviously it is just the design and nothing to do with people driving like idiots.

School parking wars.

Dog poison in local walking route.

And the usual lost and found.

And me moaning about the garden waste collections, or lack of as the case may be.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 01/04/2019 22:14

The owner of the local fish & chip shop is a very strange person. If anyone writes a negative review he replies very rudely and calls the reviewer 'kurwa' which I believe means whore. The local FB group is being spammed by his numerous fake profiles. It's all very odd.

Longdistance · 01/04/2019 22:21

I’m in two. One’s a local history one which reminisces from days gone by ( because our town is so shit). The other has things like burglaries, recommendations, a bit whingey about local developments etc.

brickingmyselfaboutthis · 01/04/2019 22:25

@Longdistance I read that as burglary recommendations 😂😂

GummyGoddess · 02/04/2019 00:50

An ugly heavy statue from someone's house has been stolen.

Over the weekend there was a list of dogging locations and an explanation of the 'unexplained facial injuries' man who went to hospital.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 02/04/2019 07:30

Ours talks a lot about the corrupt Town Council, and to be fair the Town Council is corrupt and everyone knows this because they are blatant about it.
