It seems to be making the rounds in my family

Headachy, foggy minded, achy body, dizzy and constantly drained.

You also feel not right but you can’t pin point what exactly is wrong.

It did the rounds in our house over Christmas, now it's back for round 2. Oh feeling it with very swollen glands and my poor 21 month old was so poorly through the night. It's shit!

Aberforthsgoat · 15/02/2019 09:01

Oh ffs. felt a bit better again and woken up shaky and feeling like my legs are going to give out from under me this morning

it seems to drag on for ages

ShannonRockallMalin · 15/02/2019 09:09

DS1 has been like this for a month. Barely been into school for a whole day. Doctors did some blood tests and he’s been diagnosed with Gilbert’s syndrome, which is a problem with the liver getting rid of waste blood cells properly. Can’t be cured, just needs to watch his diet, sleep etc. He’s just wiped out.

Both me and my OH had something similar at the same time around 4 years ago. Felt absolutely exhausted and no appetite. I remember that it was an absolutely effort just to force my eyelids open. I remember losing a week of my life through just sleeping. I simply couldn't wake up for any longer than it took to go for a wee, even then my eyes would be closed.
I didn't have headache or nausea, I just felt utterly weak and exhausted to the point where I actually wondered if I was dying. I couldn't get warm either, despite it being summertime.
My OH didn't seem to get it as bad and he recovered a lot faster. I remember him sitting me up in bed, tipping my head back and forcing me to drink water to prevent dehydration.
I don't know what it was but I'm guessing some sort of virus.
I never want to experience that again and I sympathise with anyone who does.

On the plus side, I lost weight. Grin

Checking in! I had to go to work yesterday - but wasn’t needed there Hmm so missed out on lie in etc but took DD to school and got later train. I still don’t feel 100% and woke up with headache that I hope is due to central heating. Hopefully I’m on the mend but stocked up on vit c and zinc.

Aberforthsgoat · 16/02/2019 16:53

Hopefully that does mean you’re on the mend!
I managed a six mile walk today but now feel like a shaky, puny mess!

MadameDD · 16/02/2019 17:19

I’ve just found out this morning I’m pregnant - yikes - which explains some of the nausea in the morning but not the gut wrenching stomach pains I had earlier in the week!

Still feel a bit heady and swimmy but was able to do a food shop, see my mum and luckily DD is at a party from 2pm and it’s an activity based one which her DF agreed to take her to - drop and run - which I’m not overly pleased about but he should have picked her up by now. So I’ve declutterred the spare room and done chores.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 16/02/2019 17:21

Ooh Congratulations @MadameDD!

MadameDD · 16/02/2019 17:24

HowisMovingbungalow thanks - i’m An older DM at 47.5 so goodness knows how it’ll go but it sort of explains the extreme tiredness and aches I was feeling and if the pregnancy can stick through the virus then fingers crossed!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 16/02/2019 17:26

I wish you very well! Wowsers! That must have been a shock this morning.

Make sure you put your feet up.

MadameDD · 16/02/2019 17:32

Howis wasn’t trying but wasn’t using contraception - thought I didn’t need it!

Yes definitely made most of quiet time today have rested and DH said he’s getting a takeaway so just need to cook for fussy little madam!

Aberforthsgoat · 17/02/2019 14:36

Oh congrats @madameDD

Crunchymum · 17/02/2019 15:59

Was just going to start a thread bemoaning my families ill health.

We've had weeks and weeks of this bloody virus.... temperature, lethargy, no appetite, headaches and cough.

Between the 6yo and 4yo, we only managed 2 full weeks when they were both at school last half term.

4yo came down with the virus in mid December..... had a brief respite over Xmas but was rotten again by new year. 6yo and the 1yo came down with it in early Jan. 4yo was ill again for her birthday in Mid Jan, we had an ok few weeks and then 4yo was ill again last week and now the 6yo has a temperature of 39c and is going to have to miss his intensive swimming lessons which start tomorrow.

I am immunosuppressed so I'm surprised I've got away with just a mild version of it (felt awful earlier this week for a few days)

Praying the baby stays well as she has just got rid of the NG tube [feeding tube] that she had for almost a year.

DP is the only one who hasn't been affected at all?

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 23/02/2019 16:49

Fuck fuck fuck fuck

It's back!!!

I have had two weeks grace and the virus is back!

Same fucking symptoms too...

Livingthedream12345 · 23/02/2019 17:14

I've been feeling drained all week...it all makes sense now! I've been falling asleep on the sofa at 8pm!

puffylovett · 23/02/2019 22:39

Well I managed to drag myself in to work last week, made it to my gym classes Monday and Wednesday and was starting to feel a lot better in myself despite the awful vile headaches and cough.. and then Thursday just went downhill again 😢
GP has started me on a 2 week course of antibiotics as the insanely agonising pain I get in my head when coughing he thinks might be a sinus infection. Am also coughing up lots of gunk! This just isn’t like me at all, I work out loads eat healthily and take lots of supplements so I can’t velieve I’ve felt so rotten for nearly 3 months!! It’s ridiculous

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 23/02/2019 22:42

I have been sick this evening ...and now propped up in bed because I have horrendous heartburn...it's coming in waves.
Feel very wobbly ..legs are doing that crazy shaking thing again.
Supposed to be lesson planning today but spent all day lying on sofa trying not to cry...

wishingitwasfriday · 23/02/2019 22:45

I had this virus for two weeks, please don't say it's going to come back!!
I started to feel better on Thursday afternoon and now feel like it never happened! It started with aching knuckles and then progress to various symptoms but never enough to feel like staying in bed. The exhaustion at the end of each day was awful. Really hope everyone is feeling better soon.

MadameDD · 25/02/2019 14:07

Update - after feeling a bit ropey over the weekend on and off I now have a sore throat and dodgy stomach and think the virus has returned again.

I saw my mum recently who has the other version of this virus - e.g. very bad cold and cough and is on antibiotics.

Lilythepink3 · 03/03/2019 10:06

Hi, just wondering if any of you are still ill? I have had exactly what you describe for 2 weeks so is such a relief to see this thread as I have diagnosed myself with everything!
I have had dizzy/lightheadedness - room not spinning but I'm just so woozy, dull tension headache like a tight band around head - especially back of skull, cold hands, achey, weird twitchy legs. I feel okay for a bit and then 5 minutes walking down the supermarket aisles and I'm wiped out.No cough, cold, sore throat, nothing! Has been very unnerving!

I have had a load of blood tests and all ok except very high ferritin levels which is causing me some anxiety - does anyone know if a nasty virus could raise ferritin?

Hope you all feeling better!

MadameDD · 03/03/2019 16:18

Lilythepink3 - I think I still 'ill' but not sure how much of this is early pregnancy symptoms.

I've definitely had a dodgy stomach - diarrhoea and the odd scratchy throat and definite lethargy.

Having said that a close friend of my mum's has come down with same virus on Friday so my mum told me today.

Lilythepink3 · 03/03/2019 17:44

@MadameDD - thanks for the response. Hope you are doing ok, this virus is bad enough without pregnancy symtoms on top. I feel so jittery with it and my legs are so achey - just want it to go away now! Take care

MadameDD · 03/03/2019 17:47

Lilythepink80 - I actually rang the doctor on Friday morning as I was slightly concerned - mentioned my symptoms as well as the fact I'm pregnant - which is on my notes - they said this virus is particularly nasty, not a lot they could do about it but to come and see a GP if not cleared up soon.

Lilythepink3 · 05/03/2019 15:51

@MadameDD how are you doing today? I still feel rotten. Can't do much at all without feeling light headed, legs like jelly and just plain weird. Bit of nausea still too. I'm now on 2 weeks today. I'm guessing it is improving very slightly as can watch tv without eyes feeling strange now. Apparently I look a lot better as last week I am told I looked grey and hollow eyed!

MadameDD · 05/03/2019 15:58

Lilythepink3 - I've got morning sickness now but also nasty diarrhoea (definitely not connected to pregnancy unless it's a lovely new symptom!) on and off or very loose bowels every day...

feel a bit light headed but have to muddle through for work etc.

At least DH has agreed (see other thread) to cleaner so she is coming this week for 3 hours tomorrow for a trial.

my friend who had it the same time as me is still feeling ropey. I feel like I could sleep for England and I know this is pregnancy early symptoms too but not all.
