Has anyone else had this virus

It seems to be making the rounds in my family

Headachy, foggy minded, achy body, dizzy and constantly drained.

You also feel not right but you can’t pin point what exactly is wrong.

PositivePeach yes to virus coming and going. I’m not in work as still aches and shivery though sickness has subsided. But I go between feeling fine one minute and like someone has wrung me out the next!

bellalou1234 · 12/02/2019 08:17

Yes me! Dry lips too

MadameDD · 12/02/2019 08:18

I decided not to go to work today so no pay but have decided I’ll spare an hour or so doing bill paying etc if I feel up to it and I will order a weekly online shop.

MadameDD · 12/02/2019 08:19

bellalou I’ve got the dry lips too and wondered why so dry??!!

This virus is a nasty piece of work! Angry

Aberforthsgoat · 12/02/2019 08:21

Oh I hadn’t connected the dry lips!
I haven’t had the sickness thank god I just feel wrung out and sort of ...wrong
And so so tired

Lisette1940 · 12/02/2019 10:17

Currently sitting here with lips and nose slathered in vaseline. I'm quite a catch.

gunthercentralperk · 12/02/2019 11:38

Thank goodness for this thread!!!!!! As many of you have said above, I thought I was going mad. Every morning for the past five days I've woken up feeling like I'm going to be sick which lasts for about an hour or two. Throughout the day I was getting some aches and pains in my back and stomach and just felt so tired that I nearly fell asleep at my desk. Yesterday the dizzy spells kicked in and I just thought maybe my iron levels were really low yet again. Today I have woken up and from head to toe, I ache. Awful headache, nausea, a bit snotty, ears hurting, etc. For those of you who have been feeling rubbish for weeks, I salute you. I actually cried this morning because I couldn't get the top seal off of the milk when I made tea...Blush

Feel better soon everyone Flowers

Delatron · 12/02/2019 11:45

Ah I had a little cry in the shower yesterday at the thought of doing the school run. It’s awful. Day 5 here. I’ve got to go skiing next week!!

Zoflorabore · 12/02/2019 12:10

Same here. I have fibromyalgia so am always in pain on my left side ( lower back and leg ) and am often exhausted but the last couple of weeks it's been on another level.
Toothache, headache, extreme malaise and can't be arsed to do anything which is tough as I also have OCD and am looking around at stuff that needs cleaning and just can't do it. I have a blocked nose and can't smell but not a heavy cold, no cough thank god as I had bronchitis last winter and it was horrific.

I sometimes struggle to differentiate between fibromyalgia and when there's something else wrong as I feel rubbish most days but I know this is viral.
My ds and dd have both complained of feeling yucky but neither have been off school. My best friend from childhood lives 2 doors away from me and she's exactly the same and can't shift it.

It's reassuring that there's so many of us the same though I'm sorry there's others feeling as crap as I do.
Here's to turning a corner soon Flowers

JessieEssex · 12/02/2019 12:34

Oh wow I've found my people! I've had mainly the nausea and nothing else (apart from being soooo tired) but it's been hanging on for over a month Sad. I went to the doctors and he gave me anti acid pills but they hardly touched it. Some days are better than others but it's not going anywhere... I too have researched all sorts and decided I have all manner of horrific illnesses but fingers crossed it's just a virus. (I also did three pregnancy tests just in case...)

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 12/02/2019 13:24

Dry lips!,,

I had dry lips start on the 8th January...and it took me four weeks to feel better...

Four bloody weeks!!

AgentCooperdreamsofTibet · 12/02/2019 13:30

Sorry to hear so many people are ill but glad to hear there is something going around and I don't have some mystery terminal illness.

I had a bout of diarrhoea on Thursday last week, which came from absolutely nowhere but had me doubled up with stomach cramps. By the next day, I was right as rain. Saturday morning started off well but at some point during the afternoon, my insides turned to ice - I was so cold and even in several layers, blanket wrapped around me, woolly hat on indoors and the heating on full whack, I could not get a heat inside me. I was shivery and shaky and could barely stand or walk. The thought of food made me feel like I was going to throw up. By sunday afternoon, the worst seemed to have lifted so I tried going out for a walk. Big mistake; I came over all shivery and dizzy after about 10 minutes and DH had to half carry me home as my legs just wouldn't support my weight. For context, I regularly walk our dogs around 10 miles. I've been on the sofa every since. No cough or cold symptoms at all but I can't stomach any food and feel like I'm on the verge of throwing up but it comes to nothing. Walking from one room to another absolutely exhausts me - I feel like I've run a marathon just getting a cup of tea. Work are being a bit arsey because apparently "some kind of virus" isn't good enough and they want a more specific reason for me being off. This is my first absence in 4 years. Like a PP said, it's like flu but not flu. Every single molecule of my body is tired and I'm feeling very sorry for myself. Can't believe folk here are saying they've had it for around 3 weeks.

Aberforthsgoat · 12/02/2019 13:53

Well I went to the doctor today but she couldn’t find any specific signs of a virus but said it’s likely that I have one due to the symptoms and there’s a lot of it going around
She said the dizziness is probably caused by a nasal blockage even though I don’t have a heavy cold and there’s not much she can do for it so I guess it’s just a wait and see game

Zoflorabore · 12/02/2019 16:10

Forgot to add I'm going hot and cold and hot and cold :(
Because I take lots of pain meds for the fibromyalgia I think my temperature is under control but when I'm due my next dose I go hot and cold again.
I just want to feel "normal", whatever that is Grin

puffylovett · 13/02/2019 12:06

Hi! Yes suffering over here too. I’ve had a lingered since mid November. It’s been sat in my ears and sinuses for what feels like months, I’ve been fine to work as no cold or mucus or anything but started with a horrid cough last week, and finally given in this week.

My partner on the other hand has been virusy since late October, ended up with a collapsed lung and pericarditis over Xmas (thanks Ms GP for not listening to his chest when he presented with chest pain on breathing and then lying about it on your notes, but hey let’s not go there!!!)
He’s just finally had a diagnosis of Glandular Fever - at 47! He’s thoroughly depressed.

Aberforthsgoat · 13/02/2019 20:56

Jeez puffy that sounds awful

Thought I was shifting it as the dizzy spells have stopped but I started sneezing today and now have a blocked up nose...

Lisette1940 · 13/02/2019 22:11

More dizzy spells today, just slightly. Horrible gunk too. I just feel so tired. Craving vitamin C. I also am breaking out in spots. I'd love to look and feel better!

PsychedelicSheep · 13/02/2019 23:13

I think my sons come down with this today, one minute he was fine and the next he'd gone a bit green and felt dizzy, sick and had a headache.

Exh wanted to take him to urgent care but I thought it sounded viral to me, then I found this! Will keep an eye on him obviously but it does sound very similar.

MadameDD · 14/02/2019 10:12

I’m now feeling better but exhausted and found it hard to sleep properly - unsure whether hot and cold is temperature caused by virus or perimenopause or both!

Still feel “off” though.

My friend I saw on Sunday she has the same virus and feels equally awful.

Delatron · 14/02/2019 11:22

Yes, same here. Feeling a bit better but exhausted, my sleep is terrible. Awake half the night. Have been taking night nurse which has been great to ‘knock me out’! But makes me groggy the next day. Now I’m just knackered! Prefer groggy and not being awake half the night.

Aberforthsgoat · 14/02/2019 11:25

Feel for you about not sleeping. I’m having the opposite problem - out like a light but then not feeling well rested. think it’s because the virus has triggered my health anxiety along with some
Other issues so I’m on edge all day which exhausts me!

Delatron · 14/02/2019 12:05

Oh poor you. I do think viruses can have an impact on mental health and anxiety.

FissionChip5 · 14/02/2019 12:10

I’ve been living on day/night nurse and

FissionChip5 · 14/02/2019 12:12

..Pepto bismol.

whymewhyme · 14/02/2019 12:18

Yes! 3 weeks and counting!!
