It seems to be making the rounds in my family

Headachy, foggy minded, achy body, dizzy and constantly drained.

You also feel not right but you can’t pin point what exactly is wrong.

Soyalatteforme · 08/02/2019 17:12

I also had the dizziness, phlegmy throat, stiff neck and twitchy muscles. Feel like I’m going to pass out when I exert myself. It’s so horrid, and frustrating just having to rest.

Crikeyblimey · 08/02/2019 17:22

Me too. I’m over the worst but I’ve still got the most horrendous taste in my mouth. All food and drink tastes horrid and I’ve got a cough that is so annoying. Bonus of bad taste is I’ve lost 4lbs since last Tuesday.
It completely floored me last week and I took 2 days off work. Still exhausted and nauseous.
Bored of it now.

TheValeyard · 08/02/2019 17:32

Ugh - I've had dizziness, a horrendous cough, sore eyes, ringing in my ears, shivering and sweating, and no appetite.

I've now also got a sore back from all the coughing, a sore belly from all the drugs, cough medicines and lozenges I've been guzzling instead of food, and haven't slept for three nights.

On the plus side, I've been off work for two days so have binged How I Met Your Mother on Netflix.

So, every cloud...

PetraDelphiki · 08/02/2019 17:55

Can I remind everyone if you are taking ibuprofen to cope with this please take it with a proper amount of food....

Serialweightwatcher · 08/02/2019 18:02

I'm in West Yorkshire ... I don't feel particularly tired, although I know I am, it's more when I wake up that I have this terrible lethargy feeling like all the goodness has been sucked out of me and I feel floppy Sad .. it comes and goes all day long with the dizzy spells but far worse on waking ... my leg still feels weird and heavy ... I've just about driven myself potty over this past 2 weeks because I feel so awful which makes my anxiety worse and therefore the symptoms worse because they are similar

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 18:11

@serialweightwatcher I know what you mean about anxiety. I’ve been worrying about it being neurological because my muscles have felt so weird and my leg heavy and I’m so dizzy and just feeling off kilter

Azelma · 08/02/2019 18:17

Possibly adenovirus. I had something which sounded like this a year or two ago. Not a cold, but not the flu either. Went on for several weeks. Felt ok-ish whilst resting, but any form of exertion knocked me for six. I remember having to have a lie down for an hour or so after wrapping up a couple of birthday presents.

Woohoo1 · 08/02/2019 18:22

Yes, did anyone feel really unbalanced?, I felt myself swaying at the kitchen sink. Every morning I wake up fine and then the dizziness hits me as I try to get in with everyday stuff.

Serialweightwatcher · 08/02/2019 18:23

@ohheyfreakingout It's horrible isn't it? I have bad general anxiety/panic disorder and health anxiety because of it ... was saying to DH yesterday that it's so hard to tell sometimes if all the symptoms are from whatever I get, or because I get so worried and panicky about them .. it's a daily battle so I know how you feel too Sad

Serialweightwatcher · 08/02/2019 18:27

Azelma there are no cold/flu symptoms as such - I kept getting a pain in my throat for a few mins on and off and it went - no coughing or sneezing, just drained, dizzy and weak generally with a few other bits and bobs like aching leg/pins and needles in foot (also arm sometimes when I wake up but not the arm that's under the pillow Confused ) .. it's just so odd .. I really hope it is this that everyone else has because my anxiety is trying to tell me otherwise Angry

Hippopotas · 08/02/2019 18:33

Yep I’ve got this I was off work for 4 days and the only thing that helps is pumping my body full of painkillers

Serialweightwatcher · 08/02/2019 18:37

Just remembered - does anyone else get rosy cheeks on and off which feel a bit sore - not like slapped cheek but quite rosy looking?

AnotherPidgey · 08/02/2019 18:50

It hit our household a week ago. DS1 should have stayed after school, but his teacher bought him out at home time while I was collecting DS2. He looked ashen and totally exhausted. We were all shattered over the weekend. DS2 seemed to start OK, but got a bit tired and disappeared mid-afternoon. He'd taken himself off for a nap for the first time in years. I say a nap... that was him gone for the night and he didn't wake properly for nearly 18 hours! We all ended up napping. We've had sweats/ fevers/ shivers/ dizziness/ loss of appetite/ coughs/ sinuses/ runny noses/ aches, but it's hit everyone differently. DS2 was hit harder, but recovering quicker. DS1 still looking ashen and tired. No extra curriculars this week. Both had a day off school and have been functional but nothing to spare this week. DH has been in bed for 3 days and done some work from home since coming home early on Monday.

I've come off lightly, just feeling flat and coldy, but jumbled up symptoms rather than the usual order.

It's a sneaky one!

lucysmam · 08/02/2019 18:52

I had this a couple of weeks ago. Struggled my way through the week, didn't attend a 1st Aid course then thought on the Sunday that maybe, because I'd been off it all week, a brisk walk to Lidl (in the cold) would perk me up...I came home and slept the rest of the day away!

I think Azelma has it right, it's like flu but not quite flu.

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 19:11

Its a really odd one.
The drained and shaky feeling is very flu like especially when you come over all dizzy and like you might collapse
But I only seem to have minor sniffles (worse in the morning) and the throat clearing occasionally.
I don’t seem to have lost my appetite if anything it seems to have increased but I find I’m not really fancying anything.

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 19:13

@woohoo1 yep I genuinely thought I was having some kind of brain abnormality when I was walking back from a run the other day and felt all wonky like I was veering to the left (I don’t think I was) then when I got home I felt like I was swaying. I’m still half convinced there is something properly wrong as it’s such a weird sensation and I’ve never really had it before!

Woohoo1 · 08/02/2019 19:17

I’ve diagnosed myself with a brain tumour, ms and heart failure this week! So pleased I’ve read this tonight, hope everyone gets better soon.

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 19:28

@woohoo1 me too
It hasn’t helped that I currently have a vision issue (been checked out by opticians and given a routine referral so obviously not an emergency but still... anxiety is fun!) and I convinced myself it was all linked because it’s not like a normal cold/virus thing so it didn’t really occur to me that it could be one.
Was relieved to see this thread describing the exact things I’ve been experiencing.

Hope everyone gets better soon!

mydoglovesme · 08/02/2019 20:18

Finally feeling I've turned a corner today, after a week of this. Tried CBD oil to help with dizziness and felt much better today.

TeaBea2019 · 08/02/2019 20:29

❤ yes! Light-headed/ fainty for about 2-3 wks

WellVersedInEtiquette · 08/02/2019 21:51

I've had a raging cold with it and a cough too. My sinuses have been bad and I've had toothache from it.
The slightest effort has had me laid up for hours afterward. I'm finally managing to eat bits but it makes me feel really sick and I've had a sort of list to one side!

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 21:58

Has anyone else had the weird ear pressure with it?!

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 08/02/2019 22:08

I have just got over this... three weeks of it. By the third week I started to have very dark thoughts - actually planning suicide. I have had severe mental health problems ( including attempts) but not for 15 yrs and this scared the shit out of me. I am under tremendous stress from many sides and I have been keeping an eye on my mental well-being. I told DH after a couple of days and he was horrified. Then 24 hrs later it lifted...I still felt exhausted and 'leg wobbly' but the dark thoughts went.

This is a horrible virus

TryItAndDieFatLass · 08/02/2019 22:32

Yes we are all in the midst of something pretty horrible. DH started on Friday so spent the day in bed and seemed better by Sunday. DGD then came down with it, she was off school for 2 days with hacking cough, stomach pains, headache and aches all over. Tuesday me and her mom fell with it, we're both really struggling now. Hacking cough so sharp it sends me dizzy for a while after, blocked nose that nothing will clear and no sense of smell, tinnitus ten times worse and deafness in one ear, and rattling toothache all down that affected side. DH and son in law seemed to be affected for a day whereas us others, who had the flu jab moths ago, are really unwell. Any possible connection? I dont know, my head isnt working well right now.
Just want to sleep in my bed but I cant lie down due to coughing and I havent slept longer than a 2 hour stretch since monday night

PinkBuffalo · 08/02/2019 22:36

I'm relieved (but also sorry) that others have the nauseous feeling. Been feeling quite sickly this week. Been very unwell with this stupid "cold" thing for nearly two weeks. The coughing is quite bad now, but mainly in the evening/at night. I wondered if it was this making me feel nauseous. Feel like I can't eat or drink.
