Has anyone else had this virus

It seems to be making the rounds in my family

Headachy, foggy minded, achy body, dizzy and constantly drained.

You also feel not right but you can’t pin point what exactly is wrong.

Tiggles! Grin
We've all had it in some form or other for nearly four weeks now. Sick of it. (pun intended).

avuncularis · 10/02/2019 21:17

Wow, so glad to find this thread. I've got this virus and it's fucking grim! Have been thinking I must be going mad, because like most of you I've got no cough or sneezing (occasional watery nose, but not much). But the horrendous migrainey headaches that feel like someone is drilling my back teeth 24/7 (mostly the right side), the acheyness elsewhere, weird sensations in my leg at times, phases of intense nausea, and the awful feeling of doom and gloom and exhaustion - got all those. I wake up in the morning feeling bone tired and very depressed, have barely been over the doorstep the last few days. Anyone else also had a stomach upset with it? I've been so gassy too, real stinkers! Oddly enough, my appetite has mostly been fine (except when the stomach upset was at its worst) but food has seemed pretty unappealing, perhaps partly due to the fact that eating makes my head hurt!

Got to the point today that I'd convinced myself I must have an abscess in my back teeth. I have some broad spectrum antibiotics that the GP gives me for my skin so I took one at teatime and it feels like it might be helping my tooth pain a little, but it's so hard to know. Going to ask for an emergency dental appointment tomorrow, just to rule that out. But seeing quite a few of you post that you've had awful toothache with it makes me think it really is down to this nasty virus.

Wishing you all a speedy recovery Flowers

Foraminutethere · 10/02/2019 21:18

Had this a while back and it was a clinger! Then one day, just felt absolutely fine. Hit the vitamin c and zinc hard!

lucysmam · 10/02/2019 21:31

Oh! Interesting that others have mentioned toothache; I had killer toothache alongside this but didn't think they were connected. That'd explain why my tooth had nothing wrong with it when I got to the emergency dentist then Hmm.

itsnnothere · 10/02/2019 23:36

I'm 6 weeks in as I said in an earlier post. I'm over the worst of it now but I've been struggling with what feels like a hangover without having any alcohol and like someone knocked me out
I think we all need a holiday.

MrsMaisel · 11/02/2019 07:29

I had this yesterday and I'm feeling a lot better today. Worried to read people are suffering from this for weeks though. I can't bear the thought of food yet. But when I can... i'm downing the vitamins.

MadameDD · 11/02/2019 10:42

Avencularis I have this virus too - I think it’s beem knocking on the door for about a week and strangely DH and DD4.5 don’t have it but I do.

I’ve also been out twice last week (cinema with drinks with friends at night) and gin tour as belated birthday present for friend on Thursday night as I was owed childcare by various people so I assumed if I felt crap it was down to alcohol!

At the weekend managed Okish felt fine one minute crap next but didn’t think it was virus. Terribly gassy, felt rubbish Saturday night and last night properly feverish etc.

Was out yday as just thought it was me being crap but today I’m in bed off work, it’s my WFH day anyway but can normally WFH one day or more if sick and try to work - I’m a temp so no pay if sick.

Am planning to take the hit and another day without pay tomorrow if still sick but anyone got any ideas otherwise re what to take? Could only really take 3 days off without pay until it affects wraparound childcare etc.

I usually take echinacea and Danone if sick too or to step up immune system. Bloody virus!

Lisette1940 · 11/02/2019 12:04

I have the dizziness, heavy cold and general heavy tiredness. Slight fever over last few days. It just doesn't seem to lift. Keep thinking I'll be better tomorrow...

dennisreynoldsduster · 11/02/2019 12:06

Has anyone else had a weird feeling in your ears and felt quite shaky/weird and dizzy but without bad cold symptoms?

Beaverhausen · 11/02/2019 12:07

Yep no appetite 3 weeks later this horrible cough. I took metatone to help me with my energy levels and appetite.

MadameDD · 11/02/2019 13:09

dennisreynoldsduster not a weird shaking in ears but definitely an off balance, dizziness, shakiness and weird and also felt fine one day and not the next!

I’m lucky in that I’ve got 2-3 days holiday booked when DD4.5 is on half term but feel knackered now!

MadameDD · 11/02/2019 13:11

Oh and yy to reduced appetite but this has gone up and down like a yo yo and definitely off food today but forced myself to have tomato soup, toast and 2 rich tea biscuits plus toast as I felt sick...

Delatron · 11/02/2019 13:51

Oh I feel awful. Achy, sick and sooo tired. Thought I would feel better today (started on Friday) but feel worse.
I only feel half human when dosed up to my eyeballs in drugs. Praying it doesn’t last for weeks. I’m away on holiday next week.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 11/02/2019 13:55

8 days in and fever has gone ( thank feck! )

Still with horrible rasping cough and 'heavy' sinuses but can just about smell and taste my food ( have been living off soup and fruit ).

Hope you all feel better soon!

dennisreynoldsduster · 11/02/2019 14:52

@madamedd yes that’s it more of a weird sensation in the ears like pressure, not a shaking. But feeling off balance and dizzy definitely - although not all the time. It’s bloody hospital. I’ve been really panicking that something serious is going on

MadameDD · 11/02/2019 19:00

Update on virus - have been in bed all day on and off, DH came home from work early and cooked me and DD’s dinner - I had very plain. Still feel like I’m going to be sick but not sick yet and fever, aches and pains etc.

I’m staying away from family in case they get it and DH has said if worst comes to worse I should just take time off sick this week and we will manage. Hoping my manager at temp contract job will let me work from home if this continues if I feel well enough. Hope you all feel better soon. At least a cold or cough you know lemsip will kill it but this sickness is awful and as some of you say you think it could be hospital time! Shock but just an nasty virus!

MadameDD · 11/02/2019 19:01

Howis I may try an orange later. Don’t want to aggravate stomach too much but feel I need some sort of fruit and veg - had carrots with peas earlier and tomato soup for lunch.

Aberforthsgoat · 11/02/2019 19:02

It’s like a weird mishmash of different things

HowlsMovingBungalow · 11/02/2019 19:06

Yes go careful with the fruit, I had some pineapple because I wanted to see if I could taste something sharp, didn't work.
Tomato soup has been my friend.
Feeling much better in my head here but tonight feeling a bit nauseous - think it is sinus yuckness!

Rest up Flowers

MadameDD · 11/02/2019 19:08

Aberforth’sgoat yes it is mish mash and reading back through symptoms I notice I’ve had more which I now think are virus related.

I had flu jab last year so can’t work out why I’ve got this if it is flu unless it’s just an evil virus.

MadameDD · 11/02/2019 19:11

Howiovingbungalow thanks for the food advice as I’ve been on plain food (crackers and cheese spread for snack) and tomato soup too. May swerve the orange later and blueberries for breakfast tomorrow.

reenchantmentofeverydaylife · 11/02/2019 19:33

Went to dentist, had x-rays, need a small filling on that side but dentist thinks there's no way it would give me as much pain as I've had in my face and head this last few weeks (on and off). Regardless, still taking antibiotics coz the first couple of doses did perk me up and take most of the pain away. But then was shattered again this afternoon, went to bed for less than a a couple of hours and the pain in my head and aches in my neck and teeth are back. Starting to wonder if this is ever going to go away. Am I ever going to feel 'normal' again? I don't think I can live with this level of pain in my head every day, so I'll be totally dependent on painkillers before long. And they come with their own downsides. Nightmare!

However my stomach is still much better than it was, appetite fine, and no dizziness recently. (Had that when all this kicked off a few weeks ago, but it hasn't been there lately.) Still no cough/cold symptoms, but my eyes and face get tired and I get aches and pains in my hips and lower back, feet, upper arms. Tinnitus that's like a high-pitched whistling at times, and in fact I started to wonder earlier, might my right ear be infected rather than my teeth? But the pain is definitely in my back teeth on the right, not my ear, and right now it's in the right side of my head above the ear. Gnawing, nagging. Just grim.

I'm sorry to read that so many of you are down with this or something very similar. It is scary to wonder where it might end! But sadly I think as some have said it's a particularly nasty virus and we've been unlucky enough to come down with it. itsnnothere you've been suffering for 6 weeks, that's awful, surely there must be some light at the end of the tunnel for you by now! Just do whatever you can to make things as easy on yourself as possible while it lasts. And MadameDD you're obviously really going through it at the moment. Fingers crossed it treats you less severely than it has others of us and you can get back to work and then actually enjoy your days off next week Hmm

avuncularis · 11/02/2019 20:14

Oops, this name change thing gets a bit tricky sometimes! Last post was me, obvs. Can't even remember why I name-changed in the first place, so it can't have been that important Wink

PositivePeach · 12/02/2019 07:55

Has anyone found that this virus appears to go, then makes a reappearance??

I thought I was over it, until I fell asleep fully clothed at 6pm yesterday and slept through till 7am this morning. I didn't even eat my dinner.

Lisette1940 · 12/02/2019 08:03

Oh yes. I felt much better a few days ago and now I'm completely smothering. I'm just going through the motions. Gah.
