Has anyone else had this virus

It seems to be making the rounds in my family

Headachy, foggy minded, achy body, dizzy and constantly drained.

You also feel not right but you can’t pin point what exactly is wrong.

I’ve got it too, it’s awful 😔 I’ve no real ‘cold’ symptoms but I’m completely wiped out, total brain fog, weird pins and needles and hyper sensitive to everything. I had put it down to getting older (I’m in my 30s!) but I had to admit defeat this week and have some time off work. No-one seems to believe me when I say it’s a virus, I think they just think it’s a cold.

onlyconnect · 08/02/2019 08:44

I had this: nausea, weakness, headache. I was really worried it was something sinister as I hadn't had anything like it before. It went after about 6 days. No cold or cough at all.

HalfBloodPrincess · 08/02/2019 08:48

Me, my 15 year old and the toddler have all had exactly this.

The kids have been managed with paracetamol but I’ve been to the GP about mine as I’m 25 weeks pregnant and thought it might be flu, but was diagnosed with ‘a virus of unknown location’

Wish it would bigger off

PetraDelphiki · 08/02/2019 08:53

Yep...just thought I was over the version I got at Xmas and now I’ve got a new version! Nose running like a tap, exhausted, achey...

Serialweightwatcher · 08/02/2019 09:06

I had cystitis 3 weeks ago and took nitrofurantoin for 3 days - they make me feel totally dreadful - drained especially on a morning but then intermittent throughout the day, dizzy, queasy, jelly legs etc .. since coming off them I've had the exact same symptoms and went to GP other day crying because I feel so bad - they're taking blood on Tuesday (so speedy, not!) ... hoping this is what you're talking about because it's awful - feel particularly on a morning like my stuffing's been taken out ... feel weak all day long also, but not to the same degree - no cold symptoms though

Serialweightwatcher · 08/02/2019 09:17

Forgot - I keep getting pins and needles and like a burning sensation in my foot and my leg keeps going stiff ... and @Myusernameismud I rang a chemist on saturday to see if they'd take my blood sugar because I couldn't understand the weakness - they took it and it was okay, but also took my bp which was too high - I have high bp but take a concoction of tablets which always keep it to a reasonable level, so I panicked (not helpful I know, but I have severe anxiety which doesn't help) - my point is though that if it does higher bp then you can feel het up and angry as a symptom so maybe that's why you flew off the handle, coupled with the fact that you don't feel well generally

Myusernameismud · 08/02/2019 16:20

I've had pins and needles too, but I've had them far longer than any other symptoms. Always in my left hand when I wake up and sometimes the pain in my elbow will wake me in the night. I'm pretty sure it's unrelated to this, and probably a compressed nerve somewhere.

What is this horrible virus? I feel like I'm slowly being poisoned or something!

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 16:23

So glad I’ve seen this thread I have health anxiety and have been really freaking out.
Last few days no matter how much I sleep I feel run down and tired and if I go for a walk I feel a bit dizzy and off balance with pressure around my ears.
Got a twinge in my ears and a vague kind of headache I can’t really pinpoint, my lymph node behind my ear is up and I have to keep clearing my throat even though it’s not sore yet.
Foggy and off balance would be the best way to describe it, and feeling a bit unsteady and frail.

changingeverything2019 · 08/02/2019 16:27

Yes!
Aches, headache, dizziness, mild nausea, fatigue and sore throat. Also weird tinnitus-like feeling in head.
Not enough to confine me to bed but yuck.

HalfBloodPrincess · 08/02/2019 16:31

ohheyfreakingout oh the tiredness!

I’ve been napping with the toddler for 2 hours a day and going to bed at the same time and I still wake up feeling like I haven’t slept for a week.

Myusernameismud · 08/02/2019 16:31

Oh yes to tinnitus too!

Just a thought, what part of the country are we all in, assuming UK?

I'm in the East of England.

HalfBloodPrincess · 08/02/2019 16:35

I’m in Wales!

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 16:35

I’m east too.

@halfbloodprincess great name btw this is exactly me. I got nine hours last night by some miracle but after being awake two hours I started feeling exhausted again. went for a short walk into town and on the way back felt so shaky and off balance and tired and weird I thought I was actually going to have to stop and sit down!
I haven’t got a sore throat yet but I do have that kind of thick throat feeling and gunky (nice when I swallow) and have to keep clearing my throat - is this how it started?
It’s almost kind of like vertigo but no spinning if that makes sense (the weird dizzyness)

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 16:37

Oh just to add I’ve had a weirdly stiff calf muscle on one leg on and off and it sometimes feels vaguely pins and needle_y so maybe that is part of the virus too as noticed a few people upthread have mentioned similar along with a stiff ish/tense neck which I’ve also had!

reasonsforwaiting · 08/02/2019 16:38

Me too! shocking headache and horrible nausea which has kept me awake at night for nearly a week; and feel exhausted and drained. No cough or cold. Slowly feeling less ill, but still ridiculously tired!

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 16:39

@reasonsforwaiting that sounds horrible! I’ve been feeling a bit sicky after eating and also when I’ve been out and about but I put it down to the dizzyness. maybe not!

HalfBloodPrincess · 08/02/2019 16:39

Does it feel like the muscles are too tight and you need to keep stretching your legs?

My dizziness is almost like I’m on a boat - room moving rather than me iyswim. Sore throat kept threatening to happen but never actually arrived.

Toomanycats99 · 08/02/2019 16:41

Yes I had this - like I was brewing for something that never came out other then being wiped out. Daughter had it too. She was sleeping 12 hours a night.

Lulu1919 · 08/02/2019 16:42

God yes...horrible
Two weeks really....and even after that I just felt sluggish and off my food ....

UghFletcher · 08/02/2019 16:45

Yes, I've had to cave and phoned in sick this week. I was fed up with just the low level drained, not quite a cold, not really coming to anything but threatening to develop into a sore throat-ness.

Everyone seems to have it at the moment

WellVersedInEtiquette · 08/02/2019 16:46

My doc signed me off work with flu. I've just started to feel a bit better but the slightest exertion leaves me exhausted and lightheaded Sad

WellVersedInEtiquette · 08/02/2019 16:46

And my sinuses hurt so much I had toothache for days

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 16:46

@halfbloodprincess I’ve had exactly that in my
Muscles as well as feeling quite tense as twitchy

PositivePeach · 08/02/2019 17:04

I've just got over this.

The exhaustion was unreal. I've never slept so much. Luckily, I only felt really bad for about 4 days. It seems to be doing the rounds in work as well, at least two other people have had it.

Soubriquet · 08/02/2019 17:11

I honestly thought I was over the worst of it...

I nearly passed out on my way home on the school run. So apparently not
