I am watching Clue for the first time. Tim curry is amazing in it. Its made me proper laugh out loud a couple of times.
What other old films have been forgotten that I might enjoy? I need some light watching :-)

There is a film called Lawless Heart with Douglas Henshall that I love.

One day, my Dad rang me up describing this fantastic film he had watched at random the night before, and it was the same one.

It's a low key little number about the fallout after a sudden death. It's beautiful. Highly underappreciated.

Two slightly offbeat, daft, comic and sweet heist movies - Malcolm (1980s Aussie film) is wonderful if you can get hold of it. Best use of Penguin Cafe Orchestra ever.

In a similar vein is Palookaville, starring a before-he-got-really-irritating Vincent Gallo.

kateandme · 25/01/2019 19:25

oh and if you want some really good ones.hallmark movies!

Meandyouandyouandme · 25/01/2019 19:25

The Way, Way Back with Toni Collette, Alison Janey and Steve Carell, a bittersweet drama, though it is a child that’s the main character, bit sad but ultimately uplifting.

halfwitpicker · 25/01/2019 19:41

A river runs through it
A walk in the woods

prampushingdownthehighst · 25/01/2019 19:47

Muriels wedding and bridge to terabithia I think are generally unappreciated films

Meandyouandyouandme · 25/01/2019 20:01

Yes, A River Runs Through It is great, and another Brad Pitt film is Legends of the Fall.

Guineapiglet345 · 25/01/2019 20:07

Oh and Strictly Ballroom, it’s usually on the BBC every year before the new series of Strictly.

MyBreadIsEggy · 25/01/2019 20:09

War On Everyone

GrouchyKiwi · 25/01/2019 20:23

The Castle, a fantastically odd Aussie film. It's the vibe.

DoubleNegativePanda · 25/01/2019 20:24

Oh god I love Strictly Ballroom. I remember going to see it over and over at the cinema as a teenager. I still watch it, it drives dd crazy.

Another vote for I Married an Axe Murderer.

One of my all-time favorite movies that flopped HARD was Oscar. Sylvester Stallone in a campy comedy about 1920s gangsters. It's amazing. And TIM CURRY IS IN IT! His Dr. Poole in Oscar is one of my favorites of all his roles.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 25/01/2019 20:36

Flashbacks of a Fool - of all the films Daniel Craig has ever made, this one hardly gets mentioned yet it's brilliant.

Orchidflower1 · 25/01/2019 20:38

Ooh nothing to add ( sorry that’s rubbish I know!) but thanks op for starting the thread - I’ve saved it for reference for those times when you fancy watching something but don’t know what!

Crappygilmore · 25/01/2019 20:41

I work for a lady who went to theatre school with Tim Curry. I literally fell to my knees saying "i'm not worthy". Clue is a fucking excellent romp of a film.

nomfup44 · 25/01/2019 20:42

DH and I are watching Severance, he's never watched it before but I love it! I've warned him not to expect too much!

GunpowderGelatine · 25/01/2019 20:43

Inside I'm Dancing with James McAvoy. Gorgeous, hilarious film.

Another vote for Pleasantville

Heyha · 25/01/2019 20:49

I had Drop Dead Gorgeous on video 😂
Jerry Maguire is never on telly any more but I seem to remember liking it despite my intense dislike of Tom Cruise. Also likely to sink without trace due to the Spacey effect but American Beauty is a classic, for me.

GingersRum · 25/01/2019 20:50

Birdy - Nicholas Cage and Matthew Modine. I loved this film so much I went to the cinema twice to see it. Nobody I know has ever heard of it.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 25/01/2019 20:56

Cutthroat Island. Hilarious, cheesy tosh. So easy to watch.
Strictly Ballroom and To Wong Foo, thanks for everything. Julie Newmar.

Scifi101 · 25/01/2019 20:57
