Kolya is a fantastic film - I went through a foreign film period in my 20's. Cité des enfants perdus is a fabulous fantasy film, very dark.

Wildflower with Patricia Arquette and Reese Witherspoon (1991)

Drugstore Cowboy, Matt Dillon (1989)

Dogs in Space - low budget, Australian indie film from the mid 1980's starring Michael Hutchence.

Very live fast, die young..a bit of a window into MH's real life.

Into The West is a brilliant irish filmabout two young boys and a horse, lovely story, funny and moving.

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 25/01/2019 16:40

I also like all those French films from the 80s that everyone else pretended to like but you never hear of now - I thought they were great!

Delicatessen, Touts Les Matins Du Monde, Manon De Sources, Un Coeur En Hiver, Harry, he's here to help etc.

EnoughSnowAlready · 25/01/2019 16:48

French 80s, 90s and 00 dramas are my favourite genre too, HaroldsSoCalledBluetits. Un Coeur en Hiver is one of my favourite ever films, as are Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources.

The Girl on The Bridge is another wonderful, charming French film. I also love The Closet which is a wonderful comedy and a good period drama is The Widow of Saint Pierre.

Twin Town - of all the British films this is my favourite by far, it’s quite fucked up but hilarious too.

Jackie Brown - Pam Grier is amazing, the music is fab and the plot is really good too.

Overboard - cos I just love Goldie Hawn Grin

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 25/01/2019 16:52

Another fan! I haven't seen any of those other three so shall add them to my DVD by post list - thank you.

What was that one that the Delicatessen team did with the kids in? I remember enjoying it but can't remember the name.

Wheeesht · 25/01/2019 16:55

I was going to suggest Drop Dead Gorgeous too Grin

'to live in a country where you can take an ugly old mountain and put faces on it, faces of great Americans who did so much to make our country super great, well that makes me, Rebecca Leeman, proud to be an American'

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 25/01/2019 16:56

Oops just googled and it's already been namechecked by you, Enb76. Agree with you. I'll have to put it on my DVD list as well because I haven't seen it since it came out. I remember the girl who played the main character was astonishing though.

Wheeesht · 25/01/2019 16:57

Oh and it's not a cool one but Mystic Pizza. I just find it charming and lovely.

EnoughSnowAlready · 25/01/2019 16:58

I think that's The City of Lost Children.

Flashbacks of a fool with Daniel Craig.

Such a beautiful haunting film. The understory about his chiIdhood was just magical. I can never understand why it wasn't more mainstream.
