Is the Duchess of Sussex expecting twins?

I've just seen pics of her at an engagement today and that is a seriously massive bump! But not due until end April/early May (she told people this herself today) which makes her not even 6 months but she literally looks like I did at about 8 months so I'm wondering if the 'twins' story published overseas might actually be accurate?

Nah, she’d be way bigger with twins.

SophiaLovesSummer · 15/01/2019 00:08

You think? I'm not massively familiar with twin bumps!

I just remember with my first being flat until about 4.5 months when (literally overnight!) my bump just popped through and then grew slowly until about 6.5-7 months but only after that to a bump bump iyswim. If I passed her in the street I'd think she was maybe a few weeks away at most, not three and a half months away. We need twin mums to offer insight into twin bumps Grin

Twin bumps can vary a lot, just like singleton bumps. Esp with a first pregnancy. In cultures where ultrasound is not available, mothers are usually unaware of multiple birth status in about 50-60% of cases.

So, perfectly possible. But probably just wishful thinking on my behalf as I love twinsies xx.

I don't think there has ever been a live birth of twins in the direct royal line of England (has been one in Scotland though).

beansontoastfortea · 15/01/2019 00:15

I thought she looked rather big for 6 months!

Celebelly · 15/01/2019 00:17

Honestly, if you google XX weeks pregnant bump, the range of shapes and sizes is huge. It's really very difficult to tell how far someone is along just from their bump. People on here were adamant she was due in Feb because of the size of her, but I'm due then and my bump is far bigger! But then I had a sizeable bump from 18 weeks. It's just the way my body carries it.

IfNotNowBernard · 15/01/2019 00:19

She's probably actually due earlier and is planning a bit of quiet time with the baby before the madness starts.

PestymcPestFace · 15/01/2019 00:19

My twin bump measured full term at 28 weeks. I'm very skinny and acquired comedy proportions, you could see the bump from behind me. She is slim build, looks like a singleton to me.

appless · 15/01/2019 00:28

Her bump probably just appears bigger because she is very small and thin.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 15/01/2019 00:33

I think it’s just because she’s cradling it - emphasises it.

crow2018 · 15/01/2019 00:38

My bump was massive with my DS, I'm only 4'11 which made me look even bigger. I was regularly asked if I was having twins 😂

Yambabe · 15/01/2019 00:40

The same pics today had me wondering if she is actually pregnant at all.

Only because most of the pregnant women I have known personally (including me!) rest their hands on top of the bump at that size, they don't hold it underneath like that. It makes me think she's holding it cos it's a fake bump and she thinks it may move.

tynext · 15/01/2019 00:41

I think she looks completely normal for 6 months pregnant.

Some women are really big at 6 months and others aren’t showing yet. It just varies. She doesn’t look out of the ordinary for 6 months gone at all.

Also it’s likely they say the due date is a little later than it is, so she may be due earlier in April.

Butterymuffin · 15/01/2019 00:42

She'll have been told to hint the due date is later than it really is. One knock on effect of that is she'll look big for her apparent stage of pregnancy.

user1andonly · 15/01/2019 00:42

Nah. My bumps were always huge at that stage and then didn't seem to grow much more till full term. Biggest bump I've ever seen was on a very tiny, slim friend who looked like she had a space hopper up her dress. Another woman had a tiny bump, looked about 16 weeks at full term, and everyone thought her baby would be really small but he was over 6 pounds. There's a huge variation.

Sloegin2 · 15/01/2019 00:45

It doesn’t look too big for a woman of that gestation.

aprilsway · 15/01/2019 00:48

Yambabe Nothing like that would surprise me, that’s why they never put weight on anywhere else, and can wear high heels. Grin

SemperIdem · 15/01/2019 00:48

I think, though she is very slim in build, because her height is in her legs rather than her torso, her bump will look bigger. In the same way Kate Middleton, who has a long torso, carried small considering the size of her babies at birth.

nancy75 · 15/01/2019 00:48

I thought she looked massive for 6 months, I was very skinny when pregnant ( not anymore) & I’m short, at 6 months I was still wearing normal clothes and hardly showing

PyongyangKipperbang · 15/01/2019 00:49

WHy on earth would she be wearing a fake bump?!

KarenDarling · 15/01/2019 01:06

My twins due date was 1st May (they came a few weeks early) but this was my bump with them in the January they were born (so I guess the same gestation as she is now).

KarenDarling · 15/01/2019 01:07

I mean January the year they were born, they weren't born in the January Hmm

SnappedandFartedagain · 15/01/2019 01:11

Yambabe I thought exactly the same! Plus it doesn’t look like this current acting gig is going as smoothly as she expected!

MoaningSickness · 15/01/2019 01:16

My due date is a few weeks before hers.

My bump is easily that size if not bigger. And I hold it underneath sometimes Hmm. In fact I've never rested my hands on top of my bump at any size in this or previous pregnancies!? That would feel weird and awkward to me. Hands under bump feels comfy.

Unless the ultrasounds were all wrong it is a singleton and not a fake bump...
