Is the Duchess of Sussex expecting twins?

I've just seen pics of her at an engagement today and that is a seriously massive bump! But not due until end April/early May (she told people this herself today) which makes her not even 6 months but she literally looks like I did at about 8 months so I'm wondering if the 'twins' story published overseas might actually be accurate?

I had a lot of 'It must be twins!' each time I was pregnant because I'm short and (was) thin. I looked comically out of proportion.

twattymctwatterson · 15/01/2019 08:32

I've heard about this "moonbump" batshittery before, it seems to be the new thing to speculate about whenever a celebrity is pregnant. Can you imagine reading that people thought you were faking your pregnancy and using a surrogate because some nutcases online saw a photo of you holding your bump? I held my bump constantly when pregnant. All bumps are different

lubeybooby · 15/01/2019 08:34

she has a very short torso (all leg) and just carrying really high and all in front

She looks beautiful, there’s nothing better than a glowing happy pregnant woman!

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 15/01/2019 08:57

I think people should stop speculating and leave her alone. Her bump looks fine to me, I was definitely bigger than her at 6 months with my first and I'm currently due mid April with DC2 and look bigger than her. People carry babies differently.

ResourcefullSAHM · 15/01/2019 08:58

It may have something to do with her heritage. For example I had my DC in Hong Kong and learned that during pregnancy the average caucasian woman puts on 25lbs whilst pregnant, whereas the average Chinese woman who can be half the size of a caucasian puts on 50lbs. Those poor ladies were huge. Different races, different sizes and weight gain. This could be a factor?

I'm just impressed that she can wear those shoes without grimacing in pain and/or toppling over.

IrmaFayLear · 15/01/2019 09:07

I think it is somewhat to do with being thin. I had a huge bump with dd, and it was totally out the front. I didn't look pregnant at all from the back, and then there was this comical giant stomach at the front.

I do definitely think that this baby is due earlier, though. I expect they hope to throw the media/public off the scent and she can discreetly head off to hospital (posh birthing place?!) without a huge circus in pursuit.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 15/01/2019 09:08

I was that big at 6 months lol and I just had one 8lb 10 baby

JamesBondFire · 15/01/2019 09:28

Single pregnancy here and I was MASSIVE at this stage too.

HappyLazzer · 15/01/2019 09:30

I looked full term from 6 months with my first pregnancy and 5 months with my second pregnancy. I was constantly inundated with comments from strangers like "not long to go now" and people would wince when I said I still had months and months to go. I was told repeatedly that I must be expecting twins and/or I was going to have huge 12lb babies. I'm short and slim so the bump was just baby, placenta and fluid, and I had normal amount of fluid and average sized babies. I just grew huge.

My first pregnancy was at the same time as Kate was pregnant with Prince George and there was a horrible article written comparing her bump size with other people's bumps and implying that her bump was far too small. The whole way through she was being criticised for her small bump and meanwhile I, who was exactly the same number of weeks pregnant as her, was being told by everyone and anyone that I was too big, I'd give birth early, I must be wrong with my dates and was having a monster sized baby. When my baby was born a day or so after George she was a pound lighter than Prince George.

Unless she looks like octomum then I don't think you can make a judgement about the number of babies or the size of babies. Some women are naturally tiny during pregnancy and others can be absolutely huge for no obvious reason at all.

Epanoui · 15/01/2019 10:09

I was way bigger than that at 6 months and only had one quite small baby. I have a small frame and there was nowhere for the bump to go but out! I'm an inch or two shorter than her but I think she has a fairly small build too.

MadMum101 · 15/01/2019 10:26

Wouldn't be surprised at all if she has twins. Imagine all the extra attention she'll get and the not having to get pregnant again especially if she's genetically selected lucky enough to get a boy and a girl.

Sparkles getting a Royal first!

Notmyrealname85 · 15/01/2019 10:35

Know someone who used to work at a fertility centre in the US, won’t name names but a huge number of people use surrogates including a lot of people in the public eye you will know who used prosthetic bumps. I don’t know why they do this (can guess they don’t want the scrutiny?), but it is widely done.

Yambabe I think might have some credibility here. The bump has changed shape a lot - from the old folk’s home to yesterday - and it can’t all be her posture.

ibb.co/bgZCJ7q just looks odd

Notmyrealname85 · 15/01/2019 10:36

FYI would hate to be a woman in the public eye, esp when pregnant!! But if not a prosthetic, I’d guess twins :)

icannotremember · 15/01/2019 10:38

Everyone carries differently. I had a ridiculously large bump with ds1, and he only weighed 7lb10z.

rosettesforjill · 15/01/2019 10:47

I'm due end of April (22nd) and I don't think my bump is significantly smaller. Second baby and I am fatter than Meghan though GrinGrin (and it's definitely a real bump!!) This was actually a couple of weeks ago at 24+2.

DonaldDucksTowel · 15/01/2019 10:55

Her bump is oddly high, it’s befoming one with her boobs Confused

Elderflower14 · 15/01/2019 11:03

I had a tiny bump with ds2. I looked six months along at eight and a half when I had him.
Having said that he was only 5 lb 10oz!

IfNotNowBernard · 15/01/2019 11:12

I carried high and all out front. I didn't put on a pound during pregnancy. It was definitely real though!
I can't see Harry going for a surrogate, he seems like the kind of man who would be quite sentimental.

U2HasTheEdge · 15/01/2019 11:28

If you look at all the pictures her bump isn't oddly high. It's the dress.

With my first I didn't look that big until I was around 7 months. With my fourth and fifth I looked huge really early on. Everyone carries differently, I see no reason to think she is having twins, or that she is fake pregnant.

Kokeshi123 · 15/01/2019 13:05

Of course if she does have twins, everyone will be insisting that she had IVF (because of course no woman over 35 ever gets pregnant naturally or anything....).

Apparently 37-38 is the peak age for having twins and black women are a lot more likely to have twins than white (or Asian) women. So perhaps more likely than we would imagine.

EwItsAHooman · 15/01/2019 14:19

If it was twins it would have been announced as part of the initial pregnancy announcement.

Not even getting into the whole moonbump, surrogate, IVF, genetic selection thing. Keep wearing your tinfoil hats, aye?

Her bump looks fine for roughly six months, bump size varies and depends on a lot of different factors. Some days I had a bigger bump than others depending on where DC was lying and what position, whether I was a bit bloated, what I was wearing as some outfits would accentuate it, and so on.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 15/01/2019 14:23

First and only pregnancy i've had was twins and i had a huge bump from 12 weeks. I was huge and so so bloated. I wouldn't say it was twins just based on the size and shape of her bump, everyone carries differently so just based on that, i wouldn't have made an assumptions tbh

Branleuse · 15/01/2019 14:24

i think that looks an average sized bump tbh
