...an embarrassingly expensive candle.

Has anyone else bought themselves something unjustifiably extravagant to make me feel less shame filled?

I work hard for my money and I’m not going to apologise to anyone for spending some of it on myself.

That said I have a policy of only buying things I really, really love which means I don’t spend money on myself that often.

I’m currently swithering about an expensive piece of exercise equipment.

I definitely want to buy it, I’ll definitely use it but do I really need the one with all the bells and whistles and the considerably higher price tag?

I can’t decide.

Girlsworld92 · 19/12/2018 16:53

@hendricksy I have a couple of mulberry bags too and really fancy a dyson hairdryer. I can't bring myself to pay that much for a hairdryer though! Building up to it

Didiusfalco · 19/12/2018 16:54

I bought some lucky dip fingerless gloves from Turtle Doves with a voucher code posted by @trumpton - thanks again for that!
Shouldn’t really be spending any money this close to ChristmasBlush

Lazybonita · 19/12/2018 16:55

At the moment I have not one, not two but three £50 candles on the go in my house. Bought by me...for me. I live in a house full of smelly boys and dogs and I really like having nice candles to burn of an evening. My current fave is Jo Malone Pine and Eucalyptus, very Christmasy! Enjoy and don’t feel bad.

Blackladybug · 19/12/2018 16:56

£70 on a Pandora ring today. But I Absolutly LOVE it and my daughter can't wait to give it to me for xmas

Lazybonita · 19/12/2018 16:57

Ps. There is a mulberry wrapped gift under my tree this year...so excited!!

rabbitfoodadvocate · 19/12/2018 17:05

Truffle oil to have some really decadent pasta! And I can't wait to share it with DH too!

In other news...I'm considering some velvet ankle boots. Because velvet.

hendricksy · 19/12/2018 17:07

@Girlsworld92 do it ... we only live once 🤗🤗....

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 19/12/2018 17:09

Clinique day and night creams.Xmas present to myself Xmas Smile

froomeonthebroom · 19/12/2018 17:10

£25 on fleece slipper socks from fat face. I know it's only £25 but they're only socks!! So it's a massive indulgence as far as I'm concerned.

DowntonCrabby · 19/12/2018 17:19

£270 on Cher tickets planning on telling DH they were from him to me but then noticed a £100 John Lewis transaction on the joint account so I’m expecting something else. hoping it is for me and not a Love Actually Emma Thomson situation where he hands me a box of after eights or similar Blush

Auntiepatricia · 19/12/2018 17:20

A jug for gravy. I just decided I needed one and that I’m entitled to buy myself a Christmas present if I want one. So I amazon primed one immediately.

Avegemitesandwich · 19/12/2018 17:23

I just spunked 47 quid on Diptyque Baies candle yesterday. To be fair I was using a gift voucher and Baies is the actual daddy of all candles - I haven't even lit it yet and just having the box open on the shelf has filled the whole of my open plan downstairs with the delicious fragrance.

47 actual pounds though....

Chewbecca · 19/12/2018 17:31

Another one who splashed out on a KitchenAid recently as I had never seen them priced so low before. But obvs still not possible to classify it as 'cheap'.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/12/2018 17:34

I also have a Kitchenaid in crystal blue.
I love it, I also never use it, but I don't regret buying it for a second.

MrsWOLF1 · 19/12/2018 17:38

£240 on make up / perfume .My make up was pretty old and boring.

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 19/12/2018 17:40

I’ve just spend £198 on two hand luggage size rolling suitcases from American Tourister, came with a free backpack I’ll use and they’re Star Wars and Marvel patterned and I don’t feel bad at all. I need a decent suitcase and figured as I split my time between uni at home I’ll leave one in each house as I travel from both.

Trumpton · 19/12/2018 17:42

@Didiusfalco
I hope you enjoy them .
I treated myself to a ticket to “Its a wonderlife “ screening at our arts centre tonight 😀

Toddlerteaplease · 19/12/2018 17:49

I spent £80 on a tempur pillow. I slept on it for three nights, but felt so guilty that I took it back and got a full refund!

Deathraystare · 19/12/2018 17:58

Night alone in a posh hotel last weekend to attend the Christmas do. Could have just got a taxi home 🤔

What? No of course you couldn't have got a taxi and gone home. That would have put a downer on your night! Good for you!

Oldraver · 19/12/2018 17:59

Last year my favourite Rhubarb gin was forever not on then shelves..Asked the manager and she found a box in the warehouse and came back to find her outting one in my trolley.

Her ...It was one you wanted ?

Me...Bugger it, I'll have them all...

Cue phonecall to OH to confess I'd spent a shit load on Gin

SilverySurfer · 19/12/2018 18:05

I've been saving for something which I no longer need to buy and am contemplating buying an antique silver canteen of cutlery. I'm trying to convince myself that I need it - it's eight place settings and I live alone lol. I haven't quite persuaded myself yet but hope to in next couple of days Grin

ILoveAnOwl · 19/12/2018 20:08

I spent an eyewateringly large amount on a complete hair restyle recently... But I love it and so mainly don't care!

Onesmallstepforaman · 19/12/2018 21:00

A complete new exhaust system for my bike. Well, it was a bargain; and shiny😁

LadySybilPussPolham · 19/12/2018 21:44

Fly boots that have been gradually reducing in price as they sat in my Amazon basket for ages.
Oh and a jumper as a reward for doing a load of Christmas shopping at lunchtime Blush
