A new thread for us

Old thread in HDU with respiratory failure and terrified

And I've explained how easily they would be identified.

Seafour has chosen not to be anonymous. This brings consequences she needs to be mindful of.

welcometonarnia · 07/01/2019 18:28

I think most threads have a mixture of opinions/criticisms though don't they? Bar some of us getting a bit carried away with the humour last night, most if not all posts are still supportive of Seafour even if they might contain ideas she's not sure of.

And why is it OK for a bunch of people to suddenly flood onto a thread and start attacking one person? Safety in numbers?

Safety in numbers you say? No, more like a desire to stick up for our valuable NHS staff, the vast majority of whom are not "dick shits" and sympathy for those and their loved ones who truly have been disfigured by cancer.

HirooOnoda · 07/01/2019 18:29

@mineofuselessinformation it’s a discussion forum, this is very much how Mumsnet is set up to be. The thread has been reported - not by me, I am not a fan of reporting threads quite frankly, I prefer to discuss any issues as opposed to suppress them

@yawning801 I don’t think anyone has ‘attacked’ the OP. Some questions were asked regarding both inaccuracies and embellishments, these either remain unanswered or admitted to by the OP. I think from what I can see is that cancer is a very real and sensitive issue to many and exaggerating symptoms and treatment pathways to the point of disbelief while simultaneous attacking almost all HCP who look to support the OP through her ordeal seems like poor form and unacceptable to many who either are cancer survivors or work in the profession. Do you think that viewpoint is unacceptable?

Nobody ever said that the vast majority of NHS staff were "dick shits". Just that one particular consultant. And I see you are still maintaining that Seafour lied about her cancer. Hmm

I've said my piece, anyway. I'm getting tired of arguing on a thread which was originally intended to be supportive and a way to keep Seafour going in some dark days. I'm hoping that MNHQ will intervene at some point before anybody says anything even worse than has already been said.

Cuntcuntcunt · 07/01/2019 18:37

She did exaggerate her cancer symptoms. She admitted it herself.

HirooOnoda · 07/01/2019 18:40

@yawning801 please don’t twist words, nobody wins when people do that. Seafour openly admitted to over dramatising her cancer treatment - to many that is essentially lying about it. This was and remains unacceptable to many cancer survivors who have to live with the scars of their treatment

KatesMott · 07/01/2019 18:49

I’m honestly pretty perplexed at why this thread is still up, mumsnet claim nothing is identifiable yet Seafour herself admitted earlier on this thread that “while I was in hospital a lot of the doctors and nurses were reading the thread as are two of the GPs from my surgery”- it must be all over the hospital and surgery by now if this is the case and yet this hasn’t stopped her being very personal and critical in some of her comments. That really doesn’t sit well with me

Cuntcuntcunt · 07/01/2019 18:50

Me either Kates.

*sort not thought 🙄

PortiaCastis · 07/01/2019 18:54

Only needs one of the redtop papers to publish the thread and the lawyers will be in business

Cuntcuntcunt · 07/01/2019 18:57

Oh yes Portia. And the HCPs are going to have every single bit of their practice pulled to shreds because of what has been posted here, the insinuations that have been made.

LuckyLou7 · 07/01/2019 18:59

I don't think even the Daily Mail would touch this with a barge pole

Oh lord and I've posted about my dd but haven't posted a pic, can only applaud the staff at RNOH so if this gets published I've not commented on hcps and I hope they get a good press

Saucery · 07/01/2019 19:13

I just can’t understand how several photos and details given by OP are deemed not to be identifying.
The ways of MNHQ are mysterious indeed.

LilyMumsnet · 07/01/2019 19:15

Hi all

We do have to ask everyone to tone it down now. Troll hunting can result in both a suspension and permanent ban and derailing also breaks talk guidelines (so it can have the same outcomes).

Please, if you don't like a thread or you're unhappy/concerned with it, report it to us and take a step back.

Thanks all.

I’m out. None of this makes any sense - I don’t think it’s derailing to ask for clarification around certain points or to ask that a poster is mindful of being nasty about, or worse still potentially identifying, the people who work extremely hard to help her.

I wish the OP well in her future and hope she gets whatever it is she truly needs health and help wise

DaffydownClock · 07/01/2019 19:27

I'm out too.
I've followed Seafour on several threads over several years, she's probably the bravest poster on here.
No way does she or any other MNer deserve this.
Very sad.

HirooOnoda · 07/01/2019 19:33

@DaffydownClock are you having trouble comprehending the more salient points and areas of concern that have been made by several posters? These are valid and justified and accepted by the OP in some circumstances. Your inflammatory language and petty insults do nothing to further the discussion to the benefit of anyone.

Nobody has been nasty or ripped the OP to shreds, merely clarification sought about a number of falsehoods perpetuated and reconsideration of some of the choice words directed at hard working health care professionals. I personally have repeatedly wished Seafour well and I will continue to do so, I am in no doubt she has some issues that need resolving. I also equally understand the angst of other cancer survivors who do not like the falsification of symptoms and treatment pathways. Equally I understand those who work in the sector being a little angry at the repeated attacks on their colleagues. These viewpoints are not mutually exclusive and it is possible to have sympathy with all those viewpoints - this is where I am
