I’ve just been listening to Disturbeds version of Sound of Silence and I have to say I honestly love it more than the original, it nearly brought me to tears this evening and I find it so emotional, however I can’t really think of any other songs where the cover is better than the original, so is there any songs you love more than the original version?

Puffinhead · 13/11/2018 18:15

Jealous Guy by Roxy Music. My DH thinks that sacrilege!

Hounds of Love! (Futureheads)

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 13/11/2018 18:15

Yes it was Prince!

The Guns'n'roses version of Knockin' on heaven's door is much better that Bob Dylan's original also by far their best song

Arkengarthdale · 13/11/2018 18:16

I also like Alison Krauss's When You Say Nothing At All rather than Ronan Keating's version. Not sure if either of them is the original though

Meet0nTheIedge · 13/11/2018 18:16

Shipbuilding by Robert Wyatt.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 13/11/2018 18:16

I much prefer the version of Mad World they used in Donnie Darko to the Tears for Fears.

thebigmaniswatching · 13/11/2018 18:16

Yep, definitely prefer Sinead O’Connors version of that one! Just watched Prince on YouTube and hers is much more emotive

Also Gallows Pole by Led Zeppelin... it's a traditional song but there had been a couple of popular previous covers.

I prefer Amy Winehouse’s version of Valerie than the Zutons.

I also massively prefer Adele’s version of To make you feel my love than Dylan’s original.
