I’ve just been listening to Disturbeds version of Sound of Silence and I have to say I honestly love it more than the original, it nearly brought me to tears this evening and I find it so emotional, however I can’t really think of any other songs where the cover is better than the original, so is there any songs you love more than the original version?

Roxy Music-Jealous Guy

Pretty much any cover by Connie Talbot is guaranteed to be my favourite version but I particularly like her covers of This Is Me and Warrior. I also prefer her version of Fireflies but the one she did here, rather than the one from her album.

Neptunesgiraffe · 13/11/2018 21:40

Florence and the Machine - You've got the love

Daisychainsandglitter · 13/11/2018 21:41

I much prefer the version of Always on my Mind by the Pet Shop Boys

FissionChips · 13/11/2018 21:42

Don’t fear the reaper - HIM cover .

notacooldad · 13/11/2018 21:51

Other covers that I prefer to the original are
Brokhamptons version of Un-thinkable ( i'm ready) the Alicia Keys song

DMA's do Cher's Believe really good. Saying that I don't like the Cher original.
Dumb Things is better by AB Original ( even though it is a Paul Kelly original and he features on it - I guess it is an updated remix!)

Babe, I'm gonna leave you is best done by LedZeppelin

Sloe Gin is much better by Joe Bonamassa than by Tim Curry.

RTFT · 13/11/2018 21:53

Flo and the machine's version of 'You got the love' is much better than the original

Cat Power New York it’s so different from the Frank Sinatra version and I absolutely love Sinatra but not his later music. Prefer her cover of Sea of Love too

Here Comes the Sun sung by Nina Simone it’s so emotional it makes me cry

Xmaspost · 13/11/2018 22:04

Not sure these are better...but.... I really liked the recent

Weezer cover of Africa, by Toto
Toto cover of Africa, by Weezer

Cakes cover of I will survive is great, but the original is too

Moussemoose · 13/11/2018 22:06

Any cover by Raul Malo Blue Moon, Blowin in the Wind, El Paso, bloody brilliant voice.

Hairofthebillygoat · 13/11/2018 22:18

RTFT - Kindly allow me to disagree with you. In my mind I prefer the original version of "You got the love" as I'm old and can remember how unique it sounded at the time and there's something slightly out of tune about Flo's version.

Borris · 13/11/2018 22:27

Faith no more - easy, for me too

dustarr73 · 13/11/2018 22:29

Metallia Turn the Page is miles better than teh original by Bob Seger

Artesia · 13/11/2018 22:30

Can’t believe someone said Whitney’s version of I Will always Love You is better than the original. It’s an overblown, melodramatic power ballad-by-numbers, and totally lacks the raw emotion of the original Dolly Parton version. may be over invested in this
