Are there any songs that you prefer a cover of than the original?

I’ve just been listening to Disturbeds version of Sound of Silence and I have to say I honestly love it more than the original, it nearly brought me to tears this evening and I find it so emotional, however I can’t really think of any other songs where the cover is better than the original, so is there any songs you love more than the original version?

I have a whole play list of "smells like teen spirit" covers.

Nirvanas is amazing but my fav covers are by Patti Smith and Tori Amos

I also love Dinosaur Jnr's cover of Just Like Heaven (have it on 12").

Wild World by Jimmy Cliff. I love Cat Stevens, but Jimmy 's version has a deep sadness.

I didn't know a lot of these were covers

Someone mentioned Wild Horses... I love the Sundays' version of that (am a Buffy fan)

Also prefer the Lemonheads' Mrs Robinson to the original

What the bloody hell happened to Brian Harvey ? Great voice, very under rated.

Dizzy by Vic Reeves. The original just sounds slow and drunk now!

Ooh and a lot of the Placebo covers are better than the original - or at least so different they completely change the meaning of the songs.

I'm another one for Jeff Buckley Hallelujah, his voice perfectly suits the song and I find it much more emotive than the original

@Arkengarthdale the original was Keith Whitley but the Allison Krause version is better in my opinion can't stand the Ronan Keating version
