I think ours has been off since the beginning of May and we are trying to hold off turning it back on as long as we can but it's getting pretty chilly now so I don't think it'll be much longer!

Cold in my house so all wrapped up, hate the winter, only have storage heaters, they were in the house when we bought it and can't afford to change to anything else, but have to wait for consistently cold weather before they go on, once on they stay on until spring. Have lit a few tea lights though as an illusion that it snug in here!

Newyoiker · 23/09/2018 21:23

No but the stove and Aga warm the house up nicely!

Our has been on since the beginning of September. Not constantly though! Mainly when I was getting in at 11pm and it was bloody freezing.

Some people on here are so snobby about other things but so stingey when it comes to having a warm home for their family.

Yesterday

Cleanermaidcook · 23/09/2018 21:33

I 'tested it' this evening for an hour just to make sure it was working ☺

deste · 23/09/2018 21:34

All I can say is you don’t live in Scotland.

dudsville · 23/09/2018 21:36

Yes! I use it when the house cools rather than going by the calender. It's been on twice but a short burst does the trick.

dudsville · 23/09/2018 21:37

Ps. I also don't like wearing a ton of clothes when I'm at home so I'm sure this has something to do with it!

OhTheRoses · 23/09/2018 21:37

Never turn it off. 16° all the time. Has come on a couple of mornings.

megletthesecond · 23/09/2018 21:44

Yes. Mine is on in Hampshire.
And, yes, I have thermals on too.

Proseccoagain · 23/09/2018 21:54

Trying to avoid it till October. Just putting extra clothes on till then.

HungryWomble · 23/09/2018 22:22

Ours has been on the past month! But we live in a drafty house in the highlands!

Bloodybridget · 23/09/2018 22:24

Last night and tonight. Just too cold. Shame, I was hoping to last till October.

Starlight345 · 23/09/2018 22:27

I have storage heaters so put the one in lounge on will heat up tonight . No dryer either need to get washing dry

morewinedarling · 23/09/2018 22:30

Not yet - I'm in blankets on the sofa in the evening but the husband is still in shorts. It's quite likely that it will be going on after the boiler is serviced on Tuesday though..

cropcirclesinthefields · 23/09/2018 22:37

Not yet, I've got a blanket in the bed and using small fan heater to take the chill off the air. I'm holding out till mid October.

harmonyandrapsody · 23/09/2018 22:40

I have, my partner says it's not cold enough but I'm 12 weeks pregnant with DC2 and I am absolutely frozen all the time!

llangennith · 23/09/2018 22:46

I'm a real Scrooge and also don't feel the cold as much as some others but tonight, in South Wales, I have turned on the heating!!!

masma · 23/09/2018 22:48

Few times now,Baltic here..Scotland!😨

bigtimer · 23/09/2018 22:49

Turned it on Friday and Saturday but not today
North west England

bijoubijou · 23/09/2018 22:54

I don’t understand people who wait to put their heating on until it’s Baltic.
Rather be cosy in my own home without walking round bundled up like the Michelin man. It’s on, I put it on whenever I feel I need to but then again there’s not just me I have to think about I have children too.

We are all very cosy and warm in our home :)

SecretWitch · 23/09/2018 22:56

I’ve laid a fire. No heating. I’m enjoying the fresh, chill air. Our windows are half open.

bijoubijou · 23/09/2018 22:58

And before anyone bites I obviously understand if you have to watch the cost of the situation and heating bills etc

I just don’t understand people who have money but do it out of some stupid principal and won’t put the heating on until a certain date... absolutely ridiculous!!!! Enjoy your frosty toes but at least you can put the heating on in 6 days 4 hours 3 seconds

LuluJakey1 · 23/09/2018 23:04

Ours was on tonight for 90 minutes but not the start of it going on every day. I usually hold out until October.

AlexaAmbidextra · 23/09/2018 23:21

What is all this ‘holding out’ about? Some sort of masochistic martyrdom?
