So just woundering, what's your best mumsnet memory Smile

OP posts:
Ginger1982 · 23/09/2018 22:02

I liked the one where the OP was on holiday and was basically being stalked by another family so they moved caravans in the middle of the night??

Oh and one where the OP was leaving her violent husband and needed someone to take her dog and a very kind MNetter did. Often wonder if they are all ok...

Balonz was hilarious. But I reckon those Made in Music (something like that, anyway?) forum guys try to wind us up with all sorts of stupid things, and Balonz is the only one that ever was funny. So it's more luck than judgement. (I caught the Balonz OP out one time when he hadn't namechanged and was asking advice on something else nonsensical).

I always think of Expat and Aillidh when her song comes on the radio Flowers.

Mrs DV's dodgy neighbours and their gymbalow was just shocking. V.funny captions to her photos though IIRC.

Chateau de Fretay
Shopping for carbs with Clare
A woman who sat outside A&E when she first fed her DC strawberries
This doesn't sound that funny but a woman with a DS who had dissected a used sanitary towel as a science experiment

QueenOfMyWorld · 23/09/2018 22:16

Snapped and farted and
The one where the op was convinced neighbour had kidnapped her car but it turned out to be a troll thread.

QueenOfMyWorld · 23/09/2018 22:16

Cat not car!

SandunesAndRainclouds · 23/09/2018 22:22

Lemon drizzle cake, t-rex and one about a birthday party where the other mum came on to post a different story... wish I could remember the details on that one.

Most importantly though, one of my own threads. I posted on the day that DD was having major abdominal surgery. Over 500 people took a moment out of their day to reply and think about someone’s daughter and sent good wishes. It was strangely comforting, much more so than I expected.

QueenOfMyWorld · 23/09/2018 22:26

The troll who insisted she was v young, married to an extremely wealthy man, posted pics of her watched, bags etc

BIWI · 23/09/2018 22:27

The Olympic Games horses threads.
I still can't believe it's gone

I think this was one of the funniest threads, and I'm gutted that it's disappeared.

MarthasGinYard · 23/09/2018 22:28

'The troll who insisted she was v young, married to an extremely wealthy man, posted pics of her watched, bags etc'

Didn't she always use that stock shot of her boarding a private jet Grin

NTitled · 23/09/2018 22:29

There was one about farting at work, which made me cry with laughter. And I remember some posters (talking about a good 10 plus years ago, here) who used to scare me/amuse me in equal measure.

NTitled · 23/09/2018 22:31

@PlayingForKittens Yes, Trinity. I feel old now...

QueenOfMyWorld · 23/09/2018 22:39

MarthasGinYard yes I think so!

JockTamsonsBairns · 23/09/2018 22:46

A few years back now, there was a very funny one about an armchair that was mistakenly listed on the M&S website for 50p. A huge number of MNers placed an order for one, and we all got vastly overinvested in the outcome.

LanguidLobster · 23/09/2018 22:50

Did lots of people get their 50p chairs?!

50p chair was very funny

AhCheeses · 23/09/2018 23:04

It's made me smile thinking of many of the threads that have already been mentioned 😊

When my DH was in Afghanistan over Christmas and New Year's Eve one year Mumsnet was an actual life line for me. I was posting on various threads but the memory that stands out the most was, spending New Year's Eve on my own, toddler DS in bed, and chatting with a bunch of women on the internet who kept me smiling right through to the new year. It would have been a very lonely night without them there.

One of my favourite threads that hasn't been mentioned yet was by an OP who had received a Christmas card from a neighbour and wanted help identifying the name on the card so they could send one in return...
There were people analysing the handwriting and coming up with all kinds of suggestions!

JockTamsonsBairns · 23/09/2018 23:06

I'll see if i can find it. Haven't read it since the evening it all happened, and it's one of the few threads that have had me genuinely laughing out loud!

MrsNacho · 23/09/2018 23:23

Oh I ordered a 50p chair! Glad it never came as it was so ugly!

So many of these made me laugh so much. There was one where a poster didn't know wether to get an ambulance for her son. She was convinced to by mumsnet and I think he was seriously ill but did recover. May have been chicken pox related but I can't remember very clearly.

SeraphinaDombegh · 23/09/2018 23:56

Sex Lube and a fish slice. Still giggle thinking about it now!

JockTamsonsBairns · 24/09/2018 07:11

Strange. Stayed up way too late last night reading all 40 pages of the 50p chair thread, and didn't find it remotely funny Confused. Wonder if my sense of humour's changed, or perhaps life's just less funny in general?

BIWI · 24/09/2018 07:28

I think a lot of the humour that evening came from being on/in the thread at the time, and seeing how the whole thing played out!

DoryNow · 24/09/2018 07:53

The one where the OP had a car outside the house with a couple living g in it for weerks!!
