So just woundering, what's your best mumsnet memory Smile

OP posts:
PhilomenaButterfly · 23/09/2018 12:14

spaceraiders DD's just called it the rifridgeous. 😂

SLoisachtal · 23/09/2018 12:17

"haunted toaster or was it a fridge?"

I do recall a 'missing' toaster, wasn't it Chaos's mum who'd borrowed it without telling her?

And I do recall a fridge which had been designed for strict Kosher households, but the OP hadn't realised, and it didn't allow access to it on a Friday?

abbsisspartacus · 23/09/2018 12:20

I vaguely remember one where people detailed stupid things they did one woman got hung up on a door handle by her trousers one broke her leg on Lego and a child got stuck in a pillow case would love to read it again but I've no idea what it was called!

ItsLikeNew · 23/09/2018 12:23

The delusional guy who came on MN to recruit priestess for when him and his cronies reclaimed Marcia, he was deadly serious, women where to be worshipped and be judges, but first had to spend 2 years praying naked in silence in town squares. MNHQ deleted the thread as it unsurprisingly turned into a bit of a bun fight.

A MNer sent me a link to his FB profile, and after that the creepy little fuckers face kept popping up on my people you might know list for a couple of years!

BertrandRussell · 23/09/2018 12:25

I miss a poster called OneBatMother. We had a fabulous late night conversation about SASIng into schools to take over assemblies and make the. rationalist/humanist. It was much funnier than that sounds.......

SneakyGremlins · 23/09/2018 12:25

Remember Tomasz anyone?

poorbuthappy · 23/09/2018 12:29

The Olympic Games horses threads.
I still can't believe it's gone.

I remember Tomasz, he was funny

TeaByTheSeaside · 23/09/2018 12:40

My favourite hasn't been mentioned but had me crying with laughter.

The OP had stomach trouble and she said it helped to lift her leg to fart.

The Asda delivery man was there one day and she developed stomach pains and the urge to fart. So right in front of the Asda man she lifted her leg and let one rip!

OP's OH was outraged but OP thought it was fine and asked for opinions.

I just kept picturing the scene and the look on the poor Asda man's face when she did it. I was literally crying with laughter!

If anyone has the link, I'd love to read it again.

PlinkPlink · 23/09/2018 12:51

God yes EMINs threads... fuck... I cry every time.

They're so heartwarming and sad at the same time.

Never cried as much at something on a forum before.

wizzler · 23/09/2018 12:52

Is that you Ucm, and Balonz

CaptainCallisto · 23/09/2018 13:00

Nickelbabe's live birth thread has always stuck with me. DS1 was only a day or two old so it really resonated.

Also one where a poster's wedding dress was completely the wrong size about a week before the wedding. She'd asked for ideas on where she might find a cheap off the rack one as she couldn't find a seamstress who could do it in time, and one poster said if she could get to her she'd alter it. It turned out beautifully!

On a personal level, I'll always remember the support I got from MN when my elderly neighbour's dog was barking and I couldn't get in to check on her. Frank the dog is up in doggy heaven now, but he was such a hero that day!

Enko · 23/09/2018 13:04

@CaptainCallisto When my elderly neighbour's dog was barking and I couldn't get in to check on her.

I remember that thread so well Frank really was a hero yes Smile

PlayingForKittens · 23/09/2018 13:09

EMIN
Expat's beautiful girl
Little Maud and the mile for Maud that followed.
OJ's dh.
Trinity. Though what I remember most was her joy on discovering her dh could ride a bike with no hands :-).
Pink Peter
Cube of poo
The pouffe that got covered in poo
Your minge

Some threads are life affirming, others sad and some just plain funny.

BikeRunSki · 23/09/2018 13:20

Yes, the elephantine manner thread was gorgeous, as have DisgracetotheYChromosome’s subsequent posts about his grandson.

I have also enjoyed following Wilf threads, first by his mother, niwsometimes by him.,

I think the thing that links these two/three posters is their genuine adoration of their family.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 23/09/2018 13:23
  • Mexican house thief
  • The MiL who stole her GD swimsuit and wouldn't return it and I think the OP on that thread ended up leaving her husband (for a multitude of reasons but that may have been the final straw) I do hope she is getting on ok now.
  • Lemon Drizzle Cake and the bunting
  • The one where the OP's private garden was being encroached by her new neighbours as they got builders in to put in a door to access it, in a listed building too if I remember right - How is that one going now???
  • the one where the OP had lovely garden play equipment and neighbours got locked in their garden after using it as the OP's son locked the side gate and they were stuck yet they argued that they shouldn't have been. Wonder how they are getting on now??
  • The one where the OP had made a contract with a gardening company who received a huge sum of money to build a special garden for the OP's child and then wasn't doing anything about it. - I do hope that matter got settled.

Those are my MN memories....

DancingDot · 23/09/2018 13:49

PLEASE PLEASE someone tell me about the Your Minge thread....

LanguidLobster · 23/09/2018 13:52

The Boris Johnson one recently made laugh (naughty @BertrandRussell...)

Your minge I think a poster went swimming and forgot her bikini bottoms, didn't realise until her dh mouthed Your minge at her 😁 😂

Meet0nTheIedge · 23/09/2018 14:21

The neighbour's pouffe that got covered in poo is my all time favourite.

AndersArms · 23/09/2018 14:49

The thread that made me join MN was KungFuPanda's thread about driving through the lanes and meeting the same car everytime who refused to reverse.

EMIN's thread made me sob - I read it in one sitting when my DD was the same age as the baby when she was eventually adopted and couldn't comprehend the selflessness of doing what she did.

Other ones that stick in my mind are Cathpip's thread about losing her daughter - my DD has the same birthday and I think of Pippa often.

I can't remember the name of the OP but she was being landed with some before school care of a child by some CF parents who hadn't sorted an alternative, after some MN coaching she "grew some balls" and they got the message.

I also fondly remember getting my arse quite rightly handed to me when I posted on AIBU when I was being massively PFB and hadn't done enough pre-reading!!

Juicyfrooty · 23/09/2018 15:11

One of the most heart breaking threads I read on here was Edgars about her lovely little boy. From her being concerned about his balance, him being diagnosed with a tumour and passing away. It was so sad. Lots of mumsnetters contributed to making a beautiful huge quilted blanket for the family.

SLoisachtal · 23/09/2018 15:23

The one where the OP got stuck in her loft hatch just wearing a swimming costume - and one of her DC had to call the Fire Brigade to get her out!

And the OP who accidentally Super-glued her foot to the carpet and couldn't escape because she was stuck (!) between her chair and her desk. Finally her teenage DD woke up and had to cut the OP away from the carpet with a pair of nail scissors!
