Favourite old tv ads

Got a new pair of shoes today for the new season and as soon as I tried them on, DH and I both said 'Ooh, new shooooes!' While the DC looked as us like we'd lost the plot as usual. They are, of course, much too young to remember the Clarks advert but it is ingrained in our memories. Which led me to think about some of the best, most memorable TV ads. Which are the ones you still remember and quote?

The coke ad with the nina simone song I wish I knew how it felt to be free. And the one with the song when ever there is thirst there is always coke cola.
The car ad with the true colours song.
The ba ad with the face made up of people that winks.
And as others have mentioned um bongo, and club. And it's not old but the canadian beer fridge ad.

My favourite ad ever was the Fiat Strada one from 1979.

It cost them an absolute fortune to make because they had to stop production for 2 days to film it, but the robot car makers are still fascinating and I love the music, plus "The Italian Job" style car choreography at the end.

I rarely remember adverts but I do recall the Peugeot advert with Take My Breath Awayyyyyy, and the car driving through the burning fields.

Adverts can also have a negative influence, I will never buy CILIT BANG because of the hideous ad.

starkid · 17/09/2018 13:08

I came on to say the KFC slaphead one!

Also can't ever forget the drumming gorilla for Cadburys.

The weird Crusha advert with the psychedelic cats playing the keyboard

Cravendale- stop-motion cows, or the cats with usable thumbs.

Sony one with all the balls going down the hill.

@zwellers great work. Yes thats the one!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/09/2018 13:29

Has anyone mentioned the "Planet Zanussi" one, where a white goods wagon was beamed down from outer space - I think it came down as a spaceship, and then "transformed" into a huge delivery wagon. The crowning touch was when the radiator grill flipped round and fastened to the front was - a teddy bear!

It was just like the delivery wagons of the age (don't see many with teddies on now).

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/09/2018 13:31

Also the milky way advert (The Blue Car and the Red car had a race . . . )

My kids and their mates sang that all the way to and from school every single day for months

Clifford the listerine dragon, but they are just a bit creepy now.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 17/09/2018 22:05

The camay soap one where the lady rubbed a wodge of foam on her cheeks, I used to copy it in the bathroom mirror.

the nalgo / unison one with the polar bear and the ants 'excuse me' always made me smile

JessieMcJessie · 17/09/2018 22:10

The Tunes one with the guy saying “a second class return to Nottingham please”!

JessieMcJessie · 17/09/2018 22:12

Has anyone mentioned the Tefal men with the big foreheads? When I was at school that was a big insult to anyone who was a bit brainy- boys holding back their fringes and shouting Tefal! Tefal!

LifeOfBriony · 17/09/2018 22:14

Haven't rtft yet but I loved the Bird's Eye beefburgers ads - Young lad (Ben?) with a broad Yorkshire accent, eating his tea (burgers) with a sibling or mate.

MrsGrindah · 17/09/2018 22:20

I went to school with the twins from the Birds Eye beef burger ads
