Got a new pair of shoes today for the new season and as soon as I tried them on, DH and I both said 'Ooh, new shooooes!' While the DC looked as us like we'd lost the plot as usual. They are, of course, much too young to remember the Clarks advert but it is ingrained in our memories. Which led me to think about some of the best, most memorable TV ads. Which are the ones you still remember and quote?

"What goes up must come down. Super Fresco makes it easy, it's by Graham and Brown"

"Now I use Insignia shampoo and shower gel. Aftershave, deodorant for one all over smell. So try Insignia cause it's all over now!"

Pea and ham from a chicken, now that's clever. (Stock cubes).

FuckKnuckle · 13/09/2018 20:48

"It's a potatoooo..."

"It's Country Life, it's English too,
From the cows to the dairy, from the dairy down to you,
And it's pure and fresh and English through and through, so...
Spread it on your toast in the morning!"

"You got an Ology?"

Those BT ads with Bob Hoskins "it's good to talk".

UrbaneSprawl · 13/09/2018 21:00

All the Boddington’s ads, but especially “Eh, Tarquill, are your trolleys on’t right way round?”.

I now live in Manchester, but didn’t when they were on.

UrbaneSprawl · 13/09/2018 21:01

didn’t when they were on

I mean the ads, not Tarquill’s trolleys, obvs.

This Heinz ad was on when my kids were little. It always used to give me a warm glow

Figmentofimagination · 13/09/2018 21:13

The juice is loose about this hoose

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 13/09/2018 21:26

I remember the BT “it’s good to talk” adverts well.

The ones that stick in my head most are Northern Irish ones though (where I’m from) and I’m guessing they’ll only make sense to other norn Irish folk.

The Harp lager Lawrence of Arabia ad “Here Lawrence, give us a pint of harp and a packet of dates.”

“Fairhill - it’s a big shopping centre in Ballymena, hey”

The anti-smoking ads that were on in the 90s. I don’t know if other health trusts in the UK did these but the N.Irish ones were hilarious! One of them went something along the lines of “my mates think smoking’s cool; aye dead on 🙄”

The one we quote the most in this house though is the old spar advert: “Fred! There’s no bread!” My DH is from England, and we live in Scotland now. Neither my DH nor any of our DC have ever lived in NI, but when we are in the supermarket looking for bread someone will always pipe up with that one! [insert proud mum emoticon]

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2018 22:08

The Hamlet ads ... all of them, but especially this:

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2018 22:13

Oh, and the "Hate Something, Change Something" Honda ad:

PurpleArmy · 13/09/2018 22:17

'When I grow up I'll be a proper little madam'

Clarks Shoes Grin

Yes, yes, Graham and Brown! I really wanted to have that wallpaper just so we could tear it down again.

Clawdy · 13/09/2018 22:19

A finger of fudge is just enough.......
Rael Brook Toplin the shirt you don't iron....
What could be nicer than a Pendleton 's Twicer, Ice cream with a lolly each end?
Anyone remembering these is of a certain generation!
