I bloody hope it's Sara Cox - I love her!

Craig Charles. I bloody love anything he does on the radio. He is great!

LARLARLAND · 03/09/2018 09:48

I would be amazed if they gave it to Shaun. I can’t imagine the Radio 2 crowd liking him. He is not to everyone’s taste and hasn’t set the world on fire with his 6Music ratings. I would like a woman to take over. Failing that I would like Danny Baker, who is the best radio DJ around.

MaMaMaBelle · 03/09/2018 09:48

Another vote for Sara! Always enjoy when she stands in
Hope it's not Fearne Cotton, she has an awful voice for radio. Hate it when she stands in for Ken.

FullMetalRabbit · 03/09/2018 09:49

please not Zoe Ball - she's awful

I'll be honest, I used to love Chris Evans but the last few years he's just got really shouty and boring, saying same things over and over.

Glad he's going

MrsMozart · 03/09/2018 09:52

For those who dislike the 'new Drivetime' slot, this is still going:

I hope they don't put Craig Charles in the breakfast slot. He actually made me almost miss Steve Wright...

UghNoWay · 03/09/2018 09:53

If we are going for how their voice sounds then it has to be Paul Lewis from Radio 4's MoneyBox. - he has an amazing voice and way with words. Not quite sure he would be the right fit though 😁😁😁

I couldn't listen to Chris Evens. He calmed down a bit over the years but he still irritated me. A lot.

Whitney168 · 03/09/2018 10:06

Hmmmm, the early mornings clearly not bothering Chris then - he's off to do the Virgin breakfast show, so will give that a try.

GoatYoga · 03/09/2018 10:10

Please no not Craig Charles - I'd have to move back to The Today Programme.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/09/2018 10:15

Definitely not Craig Charles for the morning slot, but to replace Steve Wright, which simply MUST HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't really care who... just feel like he has chased me off enough radio stations and timeslots over the last 40+ years!

LittleBookofCalm · 03/09/2018 10:16

not Jonathan Ross, absolutely no way

Neshoma · 03/09/2018 10:17

Kim Woodburn anyone???. Would make an interesting change.

NotAnotherJaffaCake · 03/09/2018 10:17

Thank god he’s going but NOT Sara Cox,she’s awful.

Either Graham Norton or Simon Mayo.

LittleBookofCalm · 03/09/2018 10:18

Virgin?
but why?
more money I guess, and no BBC

GoatYoga · 03/09/2018 10:19

Virgin!? The traitor, feel quite disappointed in him now. I don't listen to commercial radio, so will need to find an alternative.

firehousedog1 · 03/09/2018 10:20

Virgin Radio? I thought they became Absolute Radio?

librarysuperstar · 03/09/2018 10:23

What about Richard Bacon?

TheSpottedZebra · 03/09/2018 10:25

I reckon they'll moot 'a woman' but she'll test poorly, as people are twats.

Then they'll bring in Dermot O'Leary.

MsHomeSlice · 03/09/2018 10:29

dermot is a very tedious presenter... very dull and he simply cannot manage any conversation, he always ends up talking over the folks who phone in to do the mystery voice competition and no one ever gets it when he is trying to be funny. ....funny like that uncle who thinks he is totes hilaire, and really really is not.

MaMaMaBelle · 03/09/2018 10:30

Either Graham Norton or Simon Mayo

Ooh I like Graham (wish he'd hurry back from his holiday!)
Prefer Simon on drivetime - without Jo though

UghNoWay will go check out Paul Lewis.... after popmaster Grin

JynxaSmoochum · 03/09/2018 10:31

I've enjoyed Mark Goodier covering, or let Simon Mayo stretch back out comfortably. There is no chemistry with him and Jo Wiley and her introduction into the drivetime felt like pure tokenism.

I've preferred Sara Cox in the late evening slot. I've turned her off in the mornings as she goes too try hard and gushy. Zoe irritates me deeply for the same reasons.

Please, whoever it is let them be a clear speaker. There are no subtitles for radio. My radio stays firmly off most Saturdays because I can't hear the whisperings of Dermot O'Leary, or keep up with the gabblings of Graham Norton (fine on TV) or Zoe, or the wittering of Liza.

SequinsOnEverything · 03/09/2018 10:32

I hadn't realised he was going to virgin until just now. I am quite disappointed he's leaving to do the same thing somewhere else. I thought he was just leaving to have more time with his growing family.

Jitters22 · 03/09/2018 10:37

Kim Woodburn anyone???. Would make an interesting change

Morning my loves, by Christ it's cold this morning isn't it darlings? Hope you've got yourselves all snuggled up in warm coats and scarves before you venture out. And don't forget to squirt a bit of good old fashioned bleach down the lav before you go to work. It will work its magic all day and you will come home to a lovely sparkling pan!

I've taken over from that Chris Evans fellow, you know the one my loves, the one with the ginger hair. Well it's more grey hair now, but it comes to us all my loves, old age and all that. You just have to make the most of it.

I think he's two tomatoes short of a salad leaving this wonderful show, but his loss is my gain. I'm only here for the money really darlings, when you're 76 you don't turn this sort of money down and it's a lot better than scrubbing other people's mucky toilets! Call me 'untalented', but I'm coining it in and there's nothing wrong with that now is there darlings?

First guest of the day is that two-faced maggot Coleen Nolan. I didn't want her on but the producers insisted on it, so I've told them and her 'Don't start on me, because you'll get it back with both barrels. I'm warning you!'

Anyway, time for a little bit of music so here's one of my favourites - the fabulous Matt Monro. Better than Frank Sinatra if you ask me, and of course he was British and a bus conductor. A bit like me you see - from a humble job to superstar. Bless him, ooh he had a voice and a half didn't he?

So here's the lovely Matt with 'Walk Away' which is what I did when I appeared on Loose Women. Enjoy my loves, enjoy!

LittleBookofCalm · 03/09/2018 10:38
Grin stranger things have happened
BlueBrush · 03/09/2018 10:44

Think it's quite funny he talked about needing to keep climbing mountains, and starting a new adventure...another national breakfast show - it's not that much of an adventure, is it?!

MrsMozart · 03/09/2018 10:46

Jitters You should write for radio Grin
