Wow! Never read a word by her before, never want to read one again.
Although I do have an edit to make to the article.
LJ - when you say this: "It reminded me of the time when I asked my now ex-husband whether he was dating again. ?No, not really,? he replied. ?I don?t want to get some woman pregnant, find out she?s a cow, and spend the rest of my life shackled to her.?
Callous? Yes, but given the way some women behave in their quest for motherhood, not totally unjustified."
I think you would be better to have written "Yes, but given the way I behaved in my quest for motherhood, not totally unjustified."
Because 'some woman' was you. You are the cow who made him feel this way.
Perhaps, just perhaps, some women do behave this way in real life and not just in some crappy little Carrie-Bradshaw's-Mother style column or a trashy Hollywood Lets-Make-A-Film-For-An-Actress-Over-30-And-Scare-The-Men movie. But not many.
And the implication that any and every woman over the age of 37 will be in the bathroom squeezing out condoms as soon as the sex is over is false. Not every woman who says she does not want children is lying. As in many other situations involving sex, 'No' does not really mean 'Yes' Liz, so get over believing that "any man who moves in with a woman in her late 30s or early 40s should take it as read that she will want to use them to procreate, by fair means or foul, no matter how much she protests otherwise."
