Soooo - just finished watching Black Swan and can pretty much sum it up in two words...

Not pleasant.

If you're expecting a film about ballet with a bit of psychological intrigue mixed in do not go near it. It scared the 'you-know-what' out of me. One of the most chilling things I think I've ever watched.

Brilliant acting, costumes, make-up, effects and genius casting but...horrible.

Off to return it to Blockbuster now - BBL!

SupermassiveLBD · 15/08/2011 22:00

Hmm, not very Noel Streatfield then, I take it, Spiro.Shock

Blethering idiots, eh Twigs. Sad

LadyDamerel · 15/08/2011 22:08

Hullo Smile.

Well, holiday was really good fun, surprisingly! We had a couple of wet days and a very very windy night when I didn't get much sleep for fear the tent would collapse about me but generally I enjoyed it. There were hordes of kids for the MiniDs to play with, we found some great people to get drunk with chat to and best of all, the MiniDs didn't wake up until gone 8:30 every morning Shock Grin.

We came back to a very poorly cat though and had to have her PTS, poor moggy Sad.

The original Academy thread made me chuckle - it was much ruder back then, plenty of worthy contenders for the Perve Crown Grin.

Massive, hope you're feeling better.

Liking the idea of the party on Monday, though 'tis MissD's birthday on Sunday so my cake making efforts will have to go her way, I'm afraid! Am loving the idea of the JP mattress though Grin.

Who else is watching SB1 just now? (Sorry, Massive) I have come clean about my obsession and am watching it with DH, having made him watch VoD while I was ironing earlier!

SupermassiveLBD · 15/08/2011 22:18

I'm fine now thanks, ladyD. What a shame about your poor mog Sad

Glad you had a a good break though. I believe quite a bit of fun can be had in a tent.

I still haven't had he chance to read the old thread. I suppose no one thought it would go on so long so they were less discrreet than wot we are [grin[

PassTheTwiglets · 15/08/2011 22:19

Oh, LadyD, I'm so sorry for you about your cat :( Glad you had a lovely holiday though. Very impressed with your 8.30am mornings - maybe I could revise my opinion of camping after all...! How did your DH take it when you came clean?!

Have just switched off SB2. It's horrible, horrible. I didn't much like SB1 but this is just revolting. I don't need to see things like that (nothing to do with JP, just horrible, upsetting scenes). Yuk.

Am off to bed with a glass of delicious oaky Gizzy and a chapter of Sylvester. Night all.

SupermassiveLBD · 15/08/2011 22:26

Poor you Twigs, what a shame it left such a bad taste in your mouth. Sylvester and some Gizzy should make it all better though. And then perhaps, sweet dReAms. Smile

DumSpiroSpero · 15/08/2011 23:15

Back again!

So sorry to hear about your cat Lady D - hope you're all ok and the DC's aren't too upset.

Twigs - camping does have the advantage of knocking kids out for the night - even works on my DD and that's saying something!

Am starting to dread watching SB2 but will sit through the first one. The thing I liked about the first series is that although it was grim in parts it was rarely overdone and generally not gratuitous, unlike many similar American programmes (24 et al). I guess it was bound to go that way with the change in production, but very disappointing nonetheless.

DumSpiroSpero · 16/08/2011 01:46

Well, all this talk about birthday cakes has made me think about mine next month, and I've decided that if children can have character cakes grown up's should be able to as well! Grin

DumSpiroSpero · 16/08/2011 01:47

On a photo cake of course - obviously am not going to attempt that in icing!

PassTheTwiglets · 16/08/2011 08:59

You won't have to sit through much of the first one, Spiro - he's hardly in it :( I am more squeamish that most with that sort of stuff (the first series was too much for me in parts) and you guys may find it ok but it did seem gratuitous to me. I certainly won't be watching any more of it.

Love that cake! But oooooooh at the photo in the middle on the far right! I hadn't seen it before but that is obviously another one from the shoot that my favourite photo comes from! Lovely! Did you assemble the collage yourself and if so have you got a link to the full-size version of that pic?

We are going to get MissTwigs' hair cut later (she is looking like a scruffy oik these days and it needs SORTING) and then she and I are off to my parents' and they're taking us both on a daytrip to France tomorrow. Sadly there will be no John Lucas whispering in my subconscious, what with her wittering on about Harry Potter in my ear all day long :) I will see if I can get a bottle of Gizzy for us all for Monday (though you can only drink it virtually, BWAAAAHAHAHAHA!)

DumSpiroSpero · 16/08/2011 09:42

Did you assemble the collage yourself and if so have you got a link to the full-size version of that pic?

Yes I did (did you see the time I posted that Confused?! And here you go!

I wish Miss S would agree to having her hair cut into a bob - unfortunately her best friend since nursery has always had bum-length hair and she is determined to catch up!

Trip to France and no John Lucas??!!!Shock

PassTheTwiglets · 16/08/2011 09:51

Ah, I think I have seen that one, then. It looked different in the collage, for some reason. LOL at "did you see the time that was posted" :o I didn't especially want her hair cut into a bob as she always had bum-length hair too and I thought a bob would be too grown-up. But it was so much easier that I soon got over that :) It took a lot of persuading her to do it but it was getting so tangled when it got silly-long, and was so painful for her to have brushed, that she decided she would go for it. When she first had it done, her brother had longer hair than she did :)

Maybe if I take her DS with us, JL can make a brief appearance :) (see, this is why MissS needs one - you won't regret it!)

TheSmallPrint · 16/08/2011 11:13

Morning ladies. I like your cake Spiro, do you think the women on the Asda counter will look at you funny as you hand it over? Grin

I had bum length hair up until I was about 16, it's so much easier to look after when it's shorter.

TheSmallPrint · 16/08/2011 11:13

And lucky old you going to France Twigs Envy.

DumSpiroSpero · 16/08/2011 12:30

Small - I have every intention of telling them I'm getting it for a completely bonkers friend Grin

Am having a girls' night out so Mr S will never have to know - Mwahhahaha!

SupermassiveLBD · 16/08/2011 13:04

Love the cake design too, Spiro. The rose is a nice touch.

If i were a cake lady at Asda, all I'd say if that was handed in to me would be "Hm! That looks good enough to eat especially the guy in the top righthand corner with the face like a smacked arse - but it's the handsomest SA I'm ever likely to set eyes on "

PassTheTwiglets · 16/08/2011 14:08

So are you really planning to get the cake then?! Hahahaha, that is fantastic, you so should! Mind you, they may not let you do it as the images are obviously copyrighted - depends what the person serving you is like, in my experience.

You can do a daytrip to France for virtually nowt, Small. There are always offers on where you can take a car and 4 people on the ferry for about £25 return. But I don't like the ferry much so we use our Tesco vouchers for a Eurotunnel crossing - I think you only have to give them about £20 worth of vouchers. It's even better when we use Mum's vouchers instead of our own :)

DumSpiroSpero · 16/08/2011 16:03

Just come back from seeing 'Zookeeper' - brilliant, would definitely recommend it, very sweet and funny.

Yep -I'll definitely get the cake. Have had something potentially copyright done before. As far as I know it would only be an issue if I were having them done in bulk and selling them on. One cake for personal consumption shouldn't be a problem.

TBH I've come across so many strange women who don't know who he is I'm half expecting the same reaction as I got about my coaster at work - "Is that your husband?"

Do you dare me to say 'yes' if that does happen??? Grin

TheSmallPrint · 16/08/2011 17:08

I would definitely say yes. they might query his name though! Wink

PassTheTwiglets · 16/08/2011 19:43

Oh you should be fine then. Our local branch are so arsey and they reuse loads of things. For my cousin's birthday, we got a cake with lots of pictures from his childhood on it. He was naked in one of them and they refused to print it because it was 'indecent' - despite him only being about 6 months old in the pic

Can't wait to see the cake - you have to upload a pic of it somewhere!!

PassTheTwiglets · 16/08/2011 19:44

refuse, not reuse! That would be most odd.

DumSpiroSpero · 16/08/2011 21:06

I did a Disney Princess one for DD's 3rd birthday and they were fine with that - pic downloaded from internet with her name and age on, so can't see they'd object.

DumSpiroSpero · 16/08/2011 22:25

What more does a girl want on a Tuesday evening?

SupermassiveLBD · 16/08/2011 22:32

You know what I'm going to say, don't you, Spiro? Grin
Not that I have any quarrel with your choice. Wink Yumtastic!

DumSpiroSpero · 16/08/2011 22:36

Yay - well done! How about some sneaky headphones Grin.
