I have a challenge for you! Have you seen the advert for Wickes maybe, where the women has "house-barrassment" about her kitchen on a zoom call so she gets it redone?

Well I love the green-ish dress she wears at the end (when she's showing off her kitchen) I have tried googling all sorts to try and find it to no avail!

Next time the advert comes on I will try and do a screengrab. Thank you![/quote]
I haven't seen it but send it over! I love finding copy cat looks or tracking things down!

@itbemay1

I need a dress for my step daughters wedding, nothing too mother of bride as her mum will be there so I want to. Lend in but wear something by lovely. I'm a size 18 and 6ft tall, I need a cap sleeve minimal with a below knee fit (hate my legs)! DD boobs so not huge but substantial, quite slim neck and have a waist. Would like something I can wear with tan wedges as due to height I can't wear high heels!

Thanks!

Here are some ideas for you

This is my favourite but it's gone out of stock again. @sycamorescrumptious

What a lovely helpful thread!!

If I could make a fairy godmother clothing wish it would be for tops - nice smart/casual ones.

I'm a 35 yo 5'7 big boobed size 14, and like tops that definitely aren't flashy but also aren't completely plain.

Trying to move on from the fast fashion shops, but struggling to justify the jump in price to more ethical retailers to myself!

Some ideas for you here and some interesting designers:

What an absolutely lovely thread!
Would love a bit of help I'm 5"3 a good size 12 with a mum tum that I am super conscious of and I wobble everywhere- think there's an hour glass somewhere I tend to live in tshirt dresses and leggings and look boring
1st question I'd love jeans that aren't skinny but all the mum jeans I've tried seem to show of my tummy any suggestions?

And I have just got a promotion in a school currently wear a lot of smock dresses but don't think they do much for me so would like something smarter but still trendy - love wide legged trousers but don't have any as not sure if they drown me I love Emma Willis style

Thank you 😊 x

My challenge: love long skirts, but am freezing in the winter. So the combo of long skirt + leather jacket or Jean jacket is too thin for me... Parkas are too long and I'm too short (5'2) How can I wear a long skirt in the winter without looking frumpy?

jemimafuddleduck · 10/07/2021 20:39

@frillseeking Sorry if this has already been asked, but I haven't read the whole thread.

I am so fed up with my entire wardrobe. I feel like I have loads of clothes but very very few that I actually like or enjoy wearing. Always feel like I don't have anything to wear. Not helped by the fact that I have a 4 month old baby and although I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight, my body feels different. Also breastfeeding so can't wear lots of my clothes as need access to my boobs (although I appreciate that is temporary!).

Really, I need a whole new wardrobe but don't have lots of money and the thought of starting again leaves me completely overwhelmed!

Any advice / magic answers?!

Glad you're enjoying the thread :) Jeans are so much harder with a mum tum and most mum jeans aren't flattering at all! The New Look Tori jeans are really good because they've got elastane whereas a lot of mum jeans are very stiff so not flattering on the tummy area. www.newlook.com/uk/womens/clothing/jeans/blue-waist-enhance-tori-mom-jeans/p/670292540

I've also heard really good things about these jeans. They've got a tummy slimming panel to help hide the mum tum. Love the shape of the leg too and they come in different leg lengths www.levi.com/GB/en_GB/clothing/women/jeans/312-shaping-slim-jeans/p/196270162

And these M&S jeans are super popular

@carryme well done on the promotion :). I love Emma Willis' style. She wears a lot of relaxed, tailored pieces which would work well for a smarter look. I think a lot of people tend to wear the smock dresses and oversized tops and leggings when they're conscious of their figure because it covers but it's far more flattering to find more fitted styles that skim and shape.

You can definitely do the wide leg trouser look, it's just about finding the right style. You want to avoid anything that's really full as this will just add volume to your bottom half and drown you as you say.

Something like this shape would work. You can still show off a bit of ankle and add a heel to give you some height which will create a really nice silhouette.

www.dorothyperkins.com/petite-black-culotte/AQQ43565.html

These are also great. They look smart but they're in a jersey fabric so will have a nice weight and drape to them which will be flattering. What you don't want is wide legs that are in a really stiff fabric as this will just make you look bigger. www.marksandspencer.com/ponte-wide-7-8th-leg-trousers/p/clp60226657?color=BLACK#intid=prodColourId-60226658

Good challenge! You can definitely wear a maxi skirt or dress in winter but the coat choice is tricky. My first thought is an aviator style coat as these are super warm and the length is good. Jenna Coleman also shows that if you get the proportion of the coat right, you can wear a longer style (incidentally she's also 5 foot 2.) I also love the chunky jumper style for that in between weather and included this image as love the way it's styled.

Frillseeking thank you so much :) absolutely love the look from Jenna with vintage vibes. Dress with long coat elongate her frame. Also love the chunky tucked-in knit for autumn. I'll have a think about the aviator jacket actually and try it on come winter. I wonder if it'd be too boxy, but definitely better than leather or Jean jacket on the warmth department. Hmmm.... Thank you again, such a star!

You can't go wrong with Vejas at the moment but some people think they're too popular, I do love them personally. Adidas have done a collab on their stan smiths with net a porter for their sustainability range which I love and also the classic white superga. For a more trendy look, I'd go for new balance or if you're in to the chunky look, Adidas ozweego but they're a bit too trendy for me!

FraggleJunior · 15/07/2021 09:11

This is a brilliant thread, I've been inspired by some of your suggestions! If I'm not too late, have you got any suggestions for jackets/cardigans? I feel the cold so much, but I don't want to spend my life in my winter clothes. I really need something with long sleeves (not even three quarter length is enough to keep the chill off for me!) that I can wear over the top of anything, plain or patterned. That I can keep in work, but doesn't look dowdy like the big cardigans I go for at the moment. I'm size 10-12 and just under 5ft5. Is there a fairly fashionable option that will be flattering and go with anything?!! It doesn't need to be mega smart, but not scruffy either. Thank you!

Did anyone on this thread end up hiring frillseeking as a stylist? If so, how did you get in touch with her? She sounds like just want I need after a 3 year maternity leave!
