No need to reply if too difficult but do you know anywhere that does lingerie for very small sizes (e.g. AA) and WON'T break the bank? Under £40 if possible!
Have a look at Little Woman, a website dedicated to smaller sized and petite lingerie and within your price bracket. There is also The Little Bra Company who have a few options at £40 and some just over budget at £44. I love this one www.thelittlebracompany.com/collections/aa-d-cups/products/yvonne-bra-nude-vanilla

Then the usual suspects such as M&S and John Lewis have some options. M&S have some styles in AA in their first bra section. Some are non wired but there are some underwires styles too. www.marksandspencer.com/2-pack-padded-flexi-underwired-lace-wing-first-bras-aa-dd/p/clp21079259?color=WHITEMIX

Hello! I really love clothes from Hobbs and Reiss but can no longer afford them after losing my job. I'm about to start a new one and need new work clothes, which shops have quality and great work clothes that are tailored?

ComingToGetUBarbara · 30/06/2021 13:06

OP I've got myself in a rut of the same three pairs of jeans on circulation and I feel embarrassed to break it as people will say "oooooo! Look at you wearing a dress" and I'll feel embarrassed- but I do want to wear dresses and it's all I look at when browsing online!

What white pumps/trainers can I wear that are not Veja or converse to go with midi tea dresses please? I'm 38.

@CocoandCleo

Hi OP, hoping you are still answering style queries ☺️🤞🏼

Any idea where I can find some summer dresses/jumpsuits which are:

 • cotton or linen (I get so hot and sweaty when it's really warm!)
 • have buttons or wrap front, or are specifically for nursing
 • stylish and not frumpy

I'm 5'4, size 12. I like most colours and prints. Thank you in advance!

It took me a while to get to this one but I've linked some specific nursing styles here with your fabric and style requests in mind:

And then some other styles that would work that are main range but are feeding friendly. Hope that helps!

Could you help me find some casual, plain sum.er dresses that don't come up too short. Want something knee length. 5ft 1 and 10st.
Also would love to find some nice shirts/blouses. Can't find anything I like or trousers or skirts to go with them!
Thank you so much!

This made me laugh as I used to feel like this when I wore dresses during the day and now I live in them! But if it's not your usual every day attire, you can feel a bit conscious!

Something like a Superga plimsoll trainer would work well or a classic Adidas gazelle. If you want to push the boundaries a bit, their platform styles are really cool and for summer, something like this would look fab www.superga.co.uk/item/2701/Superga/2790-FRINGED-COTTON-ROPE-White.html

Axel Arigato is a nice brand that isn't as mainstream as the likes of Veja. Image below

Bit of a blowout but I've got my eye on these:

Congrats on the new job. I'd definitely have a look at Zara, Mango and Massimo Dutti for tailoring at affordable prices. They use top notch fabrics too. H&M have some great pieces but just watch the fabrics. Some are amazing, others not so much but the styling is on point. M&S have their collection range which is good and again v good fabrics.

For dresses and separates, Warehouse, Oasis and Sosandar are worth a look. Hope that helps and good luck

I have been browsing at M&S and found this: https://www.marksandspencer.com/belted-knee-length-pencil-skirt/p/clp60454432?intid=mobileappppdpshare
@DrRamsesEmerson I also thought of Fenn Wright Manson, popular again with the likes of Amanda Holden who have similar shape to you
Thanks for the recommendations! I’m very short-waisted (should have mentioned that originally) so the Fenn Wright Manson one might look like a sack tied up with string on me. Like the LK Bennett ones, will have to go and try them on.

A short suede/leather/pleather dark rose/blue/navy/sage green/brown coloured biker style jacket with loose sleeves to allow for lymphedema please. I'm petite but body is probably normal length it's my legs that have me petite.
Hey, I've found a few options for you. The review on the next one says terrible fit but it may work for you. Hope that helps

@Ansjovis

I have a pear shaped body (size 8 top half, size 10-12 bottom half). Small waist, massive (by comparison) hips and thighs. I really struggle with finding pretty much every type of clothing, and that's just if I want something to fit, finding stuff to actually flatter my body is another thing altogether!

I'm trying to be a bit more open to new styles so any suggestions would be fab, thanks :)

There are a few tips/tricks to dress a pear shape. Essentially you want to balance out your proportion and draw attention to your slim upper body so go for sleeve detailing to draw the eyes upwards, wear prints and brighter colours on your top half or a stripe, try a Bardot sleeve to add width to your upper body and balance out your hips and go for a fit and flare shape that skims over your hips.

Avoid anything low rise, steer away from any ruffles on skirts or embellishment as this will add volume to your lower half and don't try to hide behind shapeless styles as this will make you look bigger then you are.

I hope that helps a little but ultimately, we've all got our issues with our bodies and we're all guilty of worrying too much so have those tips in mind but don't feel too confined by them

Hi, this is a great thread! I am having a wardrobe re-think after seeing a photo of myself 🤦‍♀️. I’m 5ft 9ins with long slim legs but I have broad shoulders. Any ideas on tips that will slim down my broad shoulders so I’m more in proportion. Would you say V necks? Thank you xx
Thanks! Yes definitely go for v necks as this will draw the eyes downward and keel sleeves simple. Wearing a belt can also help as will draw the eye to your narrower areas

About 15 years ago DM bought me a dusky pink, fabric jacket with an asymmetric zip from Jigsaw. I guess bomber jacket style. I adored it and wore it until it literally fell to pieces. I’ve looked everywhere for something similar with no joy. Any suggestions, please?
I think I know the kind of style you mean. It's difficult because its not really on trend at the moment so it's hard to find but I wonder if something like this would work?

www.veromoda.com/gb/en/vm/shop-by-category/jackets/bomber-jacket-10245734.html?cgid=vm-jackets&dwvar_colorPattern=10245734_RoseBrown

Although if it had an asymmetric zip, you might mean a biker style?

@ImbarbaraB

As someone who has recently been on maternity leave have you got any tips of how to find a style that fits a new shape ?

I came off maternity leave a few months ago but haven’t been to the shops since before I was pregnant so still wearing old maternity clothes and any old bits I can squeeze into from pre baby days

I feel like the same person but my clothes don’t agree and despite maybe having the same dress size, my proportions are definitely different (wider hips and weird boobs specifically)

It's so tricky when you're in that in between stage and even when you lose the baby weight, everything is wider and your body just changes. It makes you feel rubbish when you're squeezing into old clothes so you end up with lumps and overspills or you're in baggy maternity clothes that make you feel like a frump and you definitely lose yourself a bit.

Personally, I'd ditch the old maternity clothes for good and try to find a few key, new pieces and get yourself a bit of a capsule wardrobe that will see you through this transitional stage. Go up a size in your jeans if needs be and make sure they've got a good elastane content. Is there an area where you feel good or confident to show off or a style that you feel good in? For example I found elasticated waist dresses really flattering because they gave me shape where I felt wide round the middle but didn't cling to my tummy so I made this a key part of my look and then bought different options in trendy prints or wore nice sandals and cool trainers so that I could mix it up a bit.

To feel on trend, pick a style that's current now and then try to incorporate that into your wardrobe so that you don't feel like your look is old or outdated. For example, leopard print was big when I was post partum (when isn't it)! so I still wore my leggings for a long time but I treated myself to some cool, Sweaty Betty ones so that even when I was still covering up my body a bit, I felt fashionable and that made a big difference to my confidence.

I think a good shopping session would also do you the world of good if you're able to get out. I think you will feel better just for spending that time thinking about yourself and your wardrobe because that's soothing that just falls by the wayside when you're a busy mum. I hope that helps bit
@frillseeking - please help
I need a dress and shoes, outdoor wedding guest in October, size 14, no 3/4 length sleeves, hide my stomach and have some colour to it. The shoes need to be flat and a size 5. I feel fat and frumpy, would like to feel great and look elegant if possible.
Happy to help. What kind of wedding is it? When you say outdoors, is it an informal kind of do?

@Carrotca

Quick question, how do you deal with clients that think they look shit in absolutely everything? I have zero body confidence right now after having a baby 2 months ago. I have a medical condition which slows down my metabolism so hard to lose weight, I have spent hundreds on clothes the last couple of months and every single thing has gone back! I'll be going out naked at this rate 🤣
It's difficult, especially when a client is PP but I've been there myself, I know how hard us women can be on ourselves and I know it can be a real struggle. The key is to identify which shapes and styles work and build a range of outfits from there. There's always something that works and styles that flatter, no matter the clients shape. It just takes a bit of perseverance sometimes and a lot of shopping!

@BashStreet1

Have you got any suggestions for a dress to wear to a really posh venue with very posh people 😂 for a dinner and drinks?

I'm about 5 foot 7, size 14/16, hate my arms so must have a sleeve and a bit of a pot belly. I've got pale skin and dark hair.

Absolutely dreading the occasion tbh, not been properly 'out' in ages (apart from beers in the garden with neighbors) and lockdown has made me a bit socially anxious I think.

I'm thinking at least if I look the part I'll be halfway to feeling ok about the whole thing!

Yes good plan, if you feel happy in your outfit, you will go out feeling much better about the evening. Whats your usual style? Classic/trendy/ simple shapes etc?

Best designer size 18? Money no object. Sick of cheap plus size tat.
Erdem, Alexander McQueen, MaxMara, Altazurra, DVF, Dolce, Roland Mouret, Valentino - have a look on MyTheresa.com, there are lots of options on there. Also I mentioned on a previous post but Marina Rinaldi. Also, it's not designer but Karen Millen's curve range has some great designer inspired pieces. This set is a fab Daily Sleeper dupe! www.karenmillen.com/curve-viscose-satin-feather-hem-trousers/AKK03737.html

Are there other shops that do a similar style as Sahara London and Pure Collection? I love their straight classic lines but as I am a size 16 I find it hard to find elsewhere (and I hate black) without it shows of bumps. As much as I love Sahara London it is o the pricey side of things.
Have a look at Seasalt Cornwall, Poetry, Hush and Uniqlo also have some shapes that might work www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-linen-blend-short-sleeved-kaftan-dress-433661.html?dwvar_433661_color=COL42&dwvar_433661_size=SMA001&cgid=IDwf-linen

Flares are back on trend! Velvet makes it a bit more difficult because it's a winter/ occasion type of fabric and they're often high rise too but I've found a few options.
