In A&E with abdominal pain, back pain, puking. It's busy here and I'm bored. AMA!

I have my own room! (Thank fuck)

Must admit your mop story gave me (and the porter) a good laugh!

Still no meds, 8 hours now. Been a couple things I'm debating talking to PALS about.

What not even a paracetamol Shock
Tell them I'll set The Toddler on them! Grin

My 5yo has currently informed me, in a sinister whisper, that I am evil and need to join her dastardly plan. Might have helped if she wasn't dressed as Elsa with a santa hat on! Grin
The 7 year old is no better + she's setting the other challenges that involve sneaking around DH and balancing items on him without him noticing

They are all bloody pickles here. I've got no hope of getting them to bed (15 minutes ago)....

SimplySteve · 16/12/2018 19:59

Nope as I'm now in a different department there won't be anything until a dr sees me...

That's awful! Hope you get to see a doctor bloody quick

trinity0097 · 16/12/2018 21:16

Hope you have been seen and have some pain relief now.

It can be horrid waiting for doctors to arrive, when I was hospitalised during a gallbladder attack I seriously considered (in my pain induced state) calling an ambulance from the ward. The nurse on duty could not convince the on call doctor to come and give me something stronger, despite me screaming in agony. In the end she had to get into bed with me and hold me! As soon as the doctor finally arrived 4 hours later and I was given something strong I could bear the pain of the gallstone moving into a duct! The next day they had to insert a gallbladder drain which I had to carry around for 6 weeks - not nice!

notapizzaeater · 16/12/2018 21:18

Hope the doctor sorts you out soon

Sooveritg · 16/12/2018 21:23

What are they suspecting? Have you had bloods done? There are certain things they won't give you pain relief for (one of the most painful ones being pancreatitis).

Sooveritg · 16/12/2018 21:24

My local hospital has no internet signal, so you're left staring at a blue curtain for days on end.

SimplySteve · 16/12/2018 21:25

Still not seen still no drugs

I have very personal experience of gallbladder attacks, in fact my abdo pain is in that region. I thought the pain was bad when they ended up removing my gallbladder.

This pain is far worse.

Is it going through to your back?

Sooveritg · 16/12/2018 21:28

Have you had your bloods taken

HammerHorror · 16/12/2018 21:32

Last year I was in A&E with my DS and my 70 year old dad came to keep us company.

He saw an old couple walk in and said "b'jayzuz I hope I don't look that old"

A young man in a tracksuit
"He'll be here for his methadone"

A morbidly obese person
"If that's not a heart attack I'll be buggered"

He kept this up for about an hour.

His humour isn't for everyone and no one could hear him. DS was too young to understand.

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/12/2018 21:32

Oh poor you, I hate A&E, I was in on Friday night but they let me home yesterday evening, asthma attack, I have brittle asthma.
Luckily it does have good WIFI and the wards when you get to one are all private rooms.
Hopefully you're seen soon.

RandomMess · 16/12/2018 21:33

Are you going for some record to see how many things they can remove and still function???

Hopefully with more than a week to go you will be out before Christmas Thanks

Lougle · 16/12/2018 21:47

Ooh CBD stones can be excruciating. Poor you! I hope they get you some decent meds soon. Are they doing a watch and wait, or operating?

SimplySteve · 16/12/2018 21:50

Bloods taken, pain radiating to back. Docs just arrived brb!

Sooveritg · 16/12/2018 21:50

HammerHorror, do we have the same Dad? Lol

Sooveritg · 16/12/2018 21:51

Well, since this is AMA, I'm going to bet it's pancreatitis.

nocoolnamesleft · 16/12/2018 21:52

Pancreatitis?

nocoolnamesleft · 16/12/2018 21:53

Damn, Sooveritg beat me to it.

Sooveritg · 16/12/2018 21:53

Sorry, I know it's crass to be betting on what ailment you have, but you're bored, I'm bored........ And you seem like a good sort, with a sense of humour. No doubt I'll get daggers from everyone else.

ABitCrapper · 16/12/2018 21:54

Why won't they give pain meds for pancreatitis?

Sooveritg · 16/12/2018 21:54

It's the only one I know which goes right through to your back and they won't give pain relief for.

HammerHorror · 16/12/2018 21:54

@Sooveritg hello, sister!

@SimplySteve did you wear good pants just in case?

Sooveritg · 16/12/2018 21:55

They will if it's acute pancreatitis, they won't if it's chronic pancreatitis. The pancreas has to process the pain relief, and you risk the pancreas rupturing when it's put under further pressure to process morphine etc.. You're not even allowed water. Just a drip.
