Chicco’s Next2Me cribs have long set the standard for bedside co-sleepers. The new Next2Me Armonia keeps everything parents love about the original and adds smart touches like a motion-sensor nightlight, travel bag and side pockets. New dad Nino put it to the test with his newborn - here’s his honest review.

Our verdict

Overall, our tester Nino was very impressed with the Next2Me Armonia. Having used a previous Next2Me crib, he felt that the Armonia compared really well, saying it felt "more modern and moveable." He particularly liked the handy features of the Armonia, noting that the side pockets were a really useful addition and that, thanks to the wheels, the crib was really easy to move from room to room - especially handy given The Lullaby Trust's safe sleep advice that babies under six months should always be supervised while sleeping. Nino noted that the Armonia felt very safe for his baby, and that they settled very well in it from day one. With 11 height settings, the Next2Me Armonia also adapts really well to any size bed.

Overall, it’s a really well-designed, comfortable, and premium-looking crib that feels safe and easy to use once set up. I’m really pleased with it.

How we tested the Next2Me Armonia

Nino tested the Armonia Crib with his newborn over a period of approximately six weeks, using it as the baby's main bed for both overnight sleep and daytime naps. During this time, Nino took extensive notes and provided scores on all the criteria listed above, including the crib's stability, ease of use, comfort and overall value for money. Having used a previous Next2Me crib, he also drew direct comparisons with the Armonia model and took this into consideration when reviewing.

How easy is the Chicco Next2Me Armonia Crib to assemble?

"The crib arrived in a large box which contained the main pieces of the crib as well as the nightlight," explained Nino. "It was easy to assemble, and I found the instructions very clear. Overall, it took roughly 15 minutes to put together."

How big is the Next2Me Armonia?

With a length of just under 100cm, a width of 70.5cm and an adjustable height between 65 and 80cm, the Armonia is slightly narrower than the Next2Me Magic Evo (W73cm), but a fair bit roomier than the Silver Cross Lunar (W57cm) and the comparatively compact SnuzPod 5 (W49cm). Nino said the Armonia felt "medium to large for a co-sleeper crib."

Does the Next2Me Armonia feel sturdy and safe?

The Armonia features a rocking mechanism, meaning it moves quite readily at your touch. Nino said that initially he was a little put off by this: "I thought it could do with a brace at the bottom to stop it feeling wobbly, but [then I realised] that's actually intended for rocking. It can take some getting used to as if you knock into it, it can move more than expected. Otherwise, baby feels very safe."

How does the Next2Me Armonia crib look?

With its clean, minimalist grey Scandinavian design, the look of the Armonia is one of its main selling points for many parents. Nino said, "It looks great, really premium, and the overall design is fantastic - we love the storage pockets!"

What are the standout features of the Next2Me Armonia?

Aside from its look and the useful pockets, Nino also praised the Armonia's comfort, saying that his baby had slept really well in the crib from just one day old. The crib also features a motion-sensor nightlight, which Nino described as "a great additional option," though he noted that, since they already had a nightlight in their room, they often didn't use the in-built one.

I think the design and overall comfort are fantastic - our baby settled in the crib straight away, which was brilliant!

How adjustable is the Chicco Next2Me Armonia?

Along with Chicco's Next2Me Magic Evo crib, the Armonia leads the way with an impressive 11 different height settings - more than most comparable co-sleeper cribs. Nino said the crib "fits a good range of different bed sizes" using a glide system and harness.

How portable is the Next2Me Armonia?

Featuring lockable wheels on its legs, the Armonia is one of the more portable cribs we've tested. "I think it's very easy to move into another room because it's lightweight and can be adjusted from different angles easily," explained Nino. "I wouldn't say it's perfect for travelling or holidays over a travel cot, per se, but it's ideal for moving around the house without much effort."

How does the Next2Me Armonia compare with other cribs?

"I've used another Next2Me before, and I think the Armonia compares really well," Nino reported, adding: "I've enjoyed using this one more - it feels more modern and movable."

What's the longevity like with the Next2Me Armonia?

As with many of the best bedside cribs, the Armonia's recommended age range is from birth to six months, with a maximum weight of 9 kg or until the baby can sit up unaided. Nino said he planned to use the crib for around six months, adding, "It feels adaptable and spacious enough to last that long comfortably before we move the baby into a cot."

Does the Chicco Armonia represent good value for money?

At £159 (reduced from £179) on Amazon at the time of writing, the Next2Me Armonia falls into the mid-range price point for leading bedside cribs - it's slightly cheaper than the Next2Me Magic (£199) and SnuzPod 5 (£200), but a bit pricier than the likes of Tutti Bambini's CoZee (£145) and Silver Cross Lunar (£145). Nino said that he felt the Armonia "definitely represents good value for money" and that he would recommend it to other parents.
