CoZee Breeze Plus Co-Sleeping Bassinet review: Does this crib really tick all the boxes?

The Tutti Bambini CoZee Breeze Plus Co-sleeper offers parents all the benefits of having their newborn close by overnight with the added box-ticks of breathable side panels, height adjustment settings for reflux and an optional rocking mechanism. But how did it fare when put to the test with a real newborn baby? We enlisted new mum Alice to find out.

How we tested the CoZee Breeze Plus Co-Sleeping Bassinet

Parent-tester Alice used the CoZee Breeze with her newborn baby as his main bed for both overnight sleeps and daytime naps from birth. During this time, she took extensive notes on the crib's safety features, sturdiness, portability, look, comfiness, practicality and value for money overall.

Before our baby arrived we put the crib together, tried out all the leg functions and tried attaching it to the bed. Once our baby arrived, our baby slept in it at night with the side down so that we could lift him out and put him back in.

What is included with the CoZee Breeze?

The crib arrived flat-packed in a carry bag and included legs to attach, wheels and the rocking legs as well as straps to secure the bassinet to the bed. Assembly was required.

How easy is it to assemble?

According to Alice, 'assembly was very straight-forward, intructions were clear and came with useful, step-by-step inllustrations. It took around five minutes.

Does the CoZee Breeze feel sturdy and safe?

'Whilst the wooden frame around the top of the crib does move when the side is down, the crib feels very sturdy and safe, there is no chance of it tipping over even when bumped into.'

How does the crib look?

The CoZee Breeze is available in two colour ways - Oak Charcoal and Scandinavian Walnut.

The crib we [have is] Scandinavian Walnut and Ecru and the neutral tones mean it fits tastefully into any room.

Does the crib need any adjustment to fit to the bed?

'You need to adjust the heigh so that it is in line with the bed mattress,' explained Alice. 'This is done easily by pressing the button in on each leg and lifting up or pressing down.'

Does the crib have a rocking mechanism?

You can attach specific legs that allow you to rock the crib (it does not rock independently).  Attachment is straightforward but does require lifting up the crib to attach the legs.

How portable is the crib?

'If the crib has been attached to the bed with the straps, they are easy to unclip, however the crib is quite heavy and a bit awkward to lift around the house whilst set up (We have quite a few stairs inside our flat!) but the wheels are great for pushing around the room.'

It also comes with a bag with handles that you can fit everything into easily (it folds down flat) if you are taking it away with you.

What are the best features of the CoZee Breeze?

'I like the fact that you can lower one side so that you can easily reach inside the crib from bed.  Also being able to adjust the crib to match your bed height and have one end higher or lower to help with digestion is a great feature.  It’s also great to be able to detach and wash the inner liner.'

What are the downsides?

'Whilst attaching the crib to the bed is important for safety, it was quite difficult to attach the strap to the bed and tighten it in order to safely attach the crib to the bed. It required my partner to crawl under the bed to do so, and took about 15 minutes.'

How does the CoZee Breeze compare to other cribs used?

We also have a Moses basket which we have in the living room which is smaller and so we won’t be able to use it for as long.  The Moses basket is good for supervised use during the day but the crib feels safe to use day or night.

We started using it from newborn when our baby was 3.8 kg, 51cm long. He slept in the crib straight away from the first night, just not for quite as many hours at a time as we’d like!

How long can the CoZee crib be used?

Like most bedside co-sleepers, the CoZee Breeze Plus is designed for use until baby is able to roll and move around or until they weigh 9kg.

'We are planning to use it for as long as possible (up to six months) while our baby is in the same room as us.'

Does the CoZee Breeze represent good value for money?

With an RRP of £225 (currently discounted to £180 for the Scandi Walnut crib at the time of writing), the CoZee is competitively priced alongside the likes of the Maxi-Cosi Iora and the Chicco Next2Me.

Alice said: 'I think in general yes, it represents good value for money. However, whilst it has different legs for different uses, it’s not practical to keep changing them and we only really used the normal legs after testing all of them. Therefore I question the usefulness of this feature and the impact on the price.'

Overall verdict on the CoZee Breeze Plus

'Overall, it's a great crib for your baby to start sleeping in,' said Alice, adding: 'The crib is attractive, easy to put together and easy to adjust the height. It can be easily packed away and would be suitable to use as a travel crib.'

Our baby slept well in the crib and it was easy for me to lift him out of the crib at night without having to get out of bed myself.

We asked Alice to rate the CoZee Breeze for the following considerations:

Sturdiness:
Practicality:
Comfiness:
