Kat is a writer and journalist hailing from London. Here at Mumsnet she helps writes our Swears By content alongside commercial campaigns, which are all designed to help make parents' lives easier.
After developing a passion for magazines in her early teens, Kat would spend her pocket money each Tuesday on a new batch of titles to pour over. From teen glossies to celeb weeklies, she felt this was her career destiny and embarked on a Journalism degree at Southampton Solent in 2008. After graduating in 2011, she landed the role of Style News Writer for more! magazine that same year and did everything from interviewing the cast of Skins on their favourite snacks to taking a turn on the Love Lift for a behind-the-scenes feature for Take Me Out.
From more!, she moved to Closer magazine and her role as a roving reporter saw her interviewing A-listers on a weekly basis, including Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Cruise and Hugh Jackman. She became the Celeb Insider party columnist and was promoted to Senior Writer before eventually landing the role of Acting News Editor.
Moving into the digital space, Kat joined Express.co.uk to run their travel section and soon became the Deputy Lifestyle Editor - writing about everything from Airbnb's most amazing rooftop pads to five-star Caribbean resorts. Kat has also written extensively on the subjects of dating and friendship for national titles. During her pregnancy, she had her own column with OK! Magazine and discussed the trials and tribulations that come from expecting.
After having her son in October 2021, she decided to leave her full-time position in magazines and forge a freelance career. She began working with Mumsnet in 2023 and contributes to our commercial campaigns as well as our lifestyle content - spanning everything from washing lingerie to vibrators to baby names.
She creates commercial content for Metro.co.uk, as well as web copy for Greene King. In 2023, she launched the award-winning Formula For Change campaign with Metro and Feed, which Mumsnet have proudly backed. In 2020, Kat penned her debut fiction novel and was signed to the Curtis Brown agency in London.
Whilst she has always been a lover of writing, Kat feels becoming a mother has made her more passionate about delivering quality content for parents that is helpful and relatable.
When she's not at her desk, Kat loves to soak up the sights of London with her fiancé Rory and son River, exploring museum exhibitions and the green spaces and parks. You may also find her taste-testing the iced coffee options from the many cafes in her local area.
