Britain's youngest trans child

Article in daily fail (sorry)

4 year old female twin says she is a boy (like her twin brother) and expresses interest in firefighters & police officers & doesn't like pigtails.

So the parents are transitioning their 4 year old and saying they have grown up conversations about gender with them.

Sigh.

What is wrong with people. Why can’t people accept that a girl may choose to like firefighters and hate pigtails?! Ffs.

This is so sad. What the hell is wrong with people. I am female, as a child i liked cars and action man and football, i hated dresses and dolls. I was known as a tomboy, never see this word nowadays.

Does anybody have any understanding of child development psychology these days?

I think Penelope Leach is 83 and maybe not in good health so I have no idea if she writes any more but she would have no truck with this. Anyone heard from Steve Biddulph or Oliver thingy (sorry I can't remember the name) both of whom ought to have been expected to talk sense?

How sad.

I am all for encouraging children to be who they are but this isn’t doing that. This is the parents pigeonholeing their child based on gender stereotypes.

This should be illegal. It's well known children don't understand sex/gender as fixed until the end of ks1. It's a developmental stage. I fail to see how this isn't child abuse.

If your child (of either sex) expresses an interest in the fire services, isn't the normal response to contact your local brigade to ask if they have any open days or are taking a truck to a nearby village fete any time soon?

Women started joining the UK fire brigade in the early 80s. A woman has headed the London service. How can these tedious sexist stereotypes be gaining strength rather than quietly dying?

Thats just wrong. What's wrong with a wee girl liking the same stuff as her brother without her actually wanting to be a boy?

Have the parents never heard of a firewoman or policewoman?

At some point people will look back on the warped minds of the 21st century.

Has NOBODY thought to introduce the poor kid to some female firefighters and police officers before telling her she must be a boy? (Such as Luluchops1 on Twitter, who rocks!)

How has this backwards, sexist way of thinking become something that some people see as progressive, it’s ridiculous.

So we can’t have female firefighters, police officers and everyone has to wear pigtails now? It’s just bizarre and damaging.

It's blindingly obvious from the pictures accompanying the article that they heavily have "gendered" their children from birth and are utterly unaware of normal childhood development. I hope that no health care professionals are colluding with them on this. This child has very little chance of expressing any difference from this gender orthodoxy in the future.

What an appalling story. I just don't understand how we've gone BACKWARDS as a society in this regard.

Poor, poor girl.

FFS. Normal child development being medicalised, fetishised even.

No they don't understand that biology is immutable under the age of 7 or so. Same as it might take a child a while to understand object permanence and they cry when their Mum leaves the room. However, the answer isn't for the Mum to accept that she literally no longer exists for her child and fuck off on a round the world trip alone. No, she plays peekaboo, reassures them and tells her child the truth as developmentally appropriate to their age and stage.

JESUS WEPT.

There's no such thing as a trans child.

This particular kid can make her own choices when she is an adult, meanwhile it's the job of the adults around her now to encourage her to explore the world and how she fits in it, without jamming her into a box.

Mumoblue · 05/05/2021 12:05

Can’t find the article but yikes.
You can’t have grown up conversations about gender with kids, it’s hard enough having grown up conversations about gender with adults!

As a child I hated dresses and loved climbing trees and had an army of plastic dinosaurs. None of that means I was actually a boy!

I have a “trains” child.

When he was 4 he announced that his name was Thomas (as in Tank Engine) and refused to answer to anything else. He also said “choo choo” and “chugga chugga” a lot.

Should I have had his legs amputated and him fitted with wheels instead?

My 18 month old DD is obsessed with pointing out trucks, she also has a jacket with diggers on it - maybe I should rename her Fred asap 🙄.

Poor baby, this is just appalling, why can’t they just let their child be who she is. I always wonder if this is some sort of munchausen by proxy type of thing with these parents.

What I can never fathom is the decision to publicise the child's life in this really intrusive way. I wouldn't dream of putting the life of my 4 year old child into the public eye in this way, I cannot see any explanation for why it's appropriate or helpful. It seems to be more about attention for the parents than for the wellbeing of the child.

This X 1000000

Jesus Christ, is there no limit to some people's stupidity? Does their need to feel special trump absolutely everything, including their child's welfare, and actual REALITY?! This ignorant, sexist claptrap being celebrated as progressive and enlightened - can't take it. Dear god, these poor kids

This should be illegal.

My now 12 year old DD was obsessed with trains, emergency vehicles, helicopters and trucks. She never liked (and still doesnt) dresses and "pretty" clothing and currently is obsessed with mythical beasts and lives in jeggings and hoodies.
