I will never accept this 'legal fiction, it is a travesty.

This is why the GRA needs to be repealed.

Gate keeping clearly doesn't work.

Challenor is a very dangerous individual.

ZebrasAreBras · 01/08/2019 17:18

Aimee Challenor supports some extremely dangerous paedophiles. One is Challenor's father, and one Challenor is apparently marrying in the US.

This in itself convinces me that the GRA legislation is not fit for purpose - and why self ID must not be made law.

Wishihad · 01/08/2019 17:18

I dont even get how this is possible.

Your birth certificate is about your birth.

You are assigned sex at birth. Not gender. You can not change sex.

I just cant wrap my head around it.

ZebrasAreBras · 01/08/2019 17:20

"Assigned sex" makes it sound like a random decision at the whim of midwifes. Your sex is observed and recorded at birth.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 01/08/2019 17:21

Patriarchy in action

stayingstrange · 01/08/2019 17:23

Utterly insane. This should never have been allowed.

Lordamighty · 01/08/2019 17:23

The law is an ass if it is legal to change your birth certificate. I could understand being issued with a reassigned birth certificate from the date your transition was legalised but that is ridiculous.

LonginesPrime · 01/08/2019 17:24

What's also weird is that if you change your name by deed poll, you have to show your birth cert and deed poll cert for the rest of your life, whereas this says that she was always known as Aimee, since 1997.

So how does that work for CRB checks and credit checks?

When a school, say, is looking to employ someone and they say, ok, Janet Bloggs, we've found some serious crimes committed by John Bloggs, and Janet says 'oh, that's not me, I've always been Janet, since I was born in 1990, see? Here's my birth certificate'.

How does safeguarding, and legal documentation generally, work now if we're rewriting history?

Cocolapew · 01/08/2019 17:24

Unbelievable.

overnightangel · 01/08/2019 17:25

Exactly what @Wishihad said

FamilyOfAliens · 01/08/2019 17:28

When I asked the Catholic priest who baptised me as an infant to remove my name from the baptism register because I’m now an atheist and hadn’t consented to being baptised, I was told it couldn’t be removed because it was an event that happened, and to pretend it didn’t happen would not be the truth.

And yet here we have the actual truth of this person being born a baby boy being erased from history and replaced with the falsehood that this person was born a baby girl.

I have no words.

ZebrasAreBras · 01/08/2019 17:28

Yes, it wouldn't be so bad if the birth cert was dated from date of transition - but that is just as though Aimee was born Aimee - it's a legal lie. Challenor was not born female, or named Aimee. it's essentially erased Challenor's previous life.

WatchOutForTheHobgoblin · 01/08/2019 17:29

@LonginesPrime

Well that's the question isn't it.

popehilarious · 01/08/2019 17:36

George Orwell would've rejected the idea of this happening in 1984 as being too over-the-top, I'm sure...

We have always been at war with Eurasia

Lawlsie1976 · 01/08/2019 17:37

I always thought you had to be post op to get your birth certificate changed. Maybe Challenor is post op? Even so, I agree, this is fiction. And I too will never accept fiction because where does it end, where? Some say the moon landings never happened. Some say climate change is a myth.

Well the moon landings DID happen, the ice cap IS melting, Elvis is NOT alive, the Holocaust DID happen and men can't change their sex and become women.

Weezol · 01/08/2019 17:41

I don't think this is a genuine document.

FormerMediocreMale · 01/08/2019 17:42

LonginesPrime

Good question. They have been luving as Aimee for 5 years and their birth certificate says Aimee so how does DBS/PVG know to check up on their orevioys male identity.

GRA needs to be apealed and gender ideology covered by right to belief/lack of.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 01/08/2019 17:45

It may not be a genuine document, who knows with Challenor, but it is the way the GRA was intended to work. There was never any requirement for surgery and erasing the previous life has always been part of the deal.

That's why for me not proceeding with self-ID, step in the right direction though it may be, is not enough. The GRA needs to be repealed and everyone needs to be treated as the sex they actually are.

Wishihad · 01/08/2019 17:46

So could I change my sex to male and my name. Get this brith certificate and then write off all my debt.

Because my female self, now, never existed.

Might be worth a try. Grin

Imagine, assuming this is true, how many people can rewrite history.

SD1978 · 01/08/2019 17:47

This is absolutely insane. You can do whatever you want with your gender- your sex is NOT something that can or should be changed. You are not sexed female- you are sexed male and can dress that up however you want to with whatever gender you feel you want to be.

Blueemeraldagain · 01/08/2019 17:48

It says at the bottom “a certificate is not evidence of identity”...

TerfTalk · 01/08/2019 17:50

I don’t believe that birth certificates should ever be changed.

However, if trans people are allowed to change them, then they shouldn’t need bottom surgery to do so. We really shouldn’t encourage bottom surgery.

Wishihad · 01/08/2019 17:50

It says at the bottom “a certificate is not evidence of identity”

I think it says that on all copies of birth certificates.

We did my friends passport a few weeks ago, I am sure the one that looked like this said the same.
