Gave something away for free, but person now wants petrol money refunded?

I feel like I'm not being unreasonable, but maybe I am?

I put up a pushchair for free on a group (decent brand). Someone asked if it was in good condition and they'd be very grateful to have it. I said yes it's in really good condition (which it is).

However, there's a clip that's on the side (not really a relevant part) that has a crack in it, it's still useable but there is a crack. I didn't think much of it.

Lady messages me saying she has found it has a crack on the clip but I said it was in really good condition, and she couldn't have drove 30 miles for it if I hadn't have said it was in good condition and would now like her petrol money back???

AIBU to say no?

Yanbu.

PixieCutRegret · 03/11/2018 08:04

YANBU, cheeky mare!

fuzzywuzzy · 03/11/2018 08:05

Tell her to give your pushchair back then. And refuse petrol money.

People very rarely appreciate being given things for free.

LotsToThinkOf · 03/11/2018 08:05

Tell her to bring the pushchair back and you'll refund the petrol money. Report her to the admin of the group.

Cheeky fucker!

RedBlu · 03/11/2018 08:05

Cheeky cow.

So she took it away and found the crack once she got back? Tough, she should have checked it over before taking it.

Absolutely no petrol refund. I would be telling her if she wanted one in perfect condition to go buy one from a shop.

newmumwithquestions · 03/11/2018 08:06

Yanbu to tell her to return it, take it and refuse to give her petrol money! Cheeky fucker!

Thisreallyisafarce · 03/11/2018 08:06

That's absolutely disgusting behaviour. Tell her to piss off.

Starlight345 · 03/11/2018 08:06

Block her cf

Igenix · 03/11/2018 08:07

Oh, thank goodness! I was starting to panic that it was my fault for not 'disclosing' the fact the clip had a crack in it.

YANBU if she wants petrol money I would want the pushchair back even if it cost me to collect it. No way would she get to keep it.

Wigeon · 03/11/2018 08:07

Completely cheeky. She should have checked the pushchair before she took it away. Do not refund the petrol money in any circumstances. Tell her she can return the pushchair if it’s not to her liking.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 03/11/2018 08:08

What Pixie said.
Cheeky mare.

Tattandthis · 03/11/2018 08:08

"If you would like to return it, please do, I'm sure I can find someone much more grateful to recieve a free, much-needed baby item. However your petrol costs are in no way my responsibility"

SukiTuki · 03/11/2018 08:08

What a chancer.

HannahnotAgnes · 03/11/2018 08:10

Very cheeky indeed.

Oysterbabe · 03/11/2018 08:10

I think I'd just send a laughing emoji then block. Cheeky cow.

SingaporeSlinky · 03/11/2018 08:12

YANBU, reply that she got a FREE pushchair and the crack doesn’t affect use. People on the selling sites can be so cheeky, even when you’re only asking a few pounds for something, they still ask if you’ll go any lower.

Doyoumind · 03/11/2018 08:12

It's quite possible she doesn't want it with a crack as she was intending to sell it. Maybe I'm just cynical. Ignore her.

Tahani · 03/11/2018 08:14

Biscuit for the cf

Solenti · 03/11/2018 08:15

CF!!!!!!
No way. I wouldn't even answer.

Alfie190 · 03/11/2018 08:15

I stopped giving away stuff because of cheeky, ungrateful people like this. I learned it is better to sell things cheaply and people are more appreciative.

Branleuse · 03/11/2018 08:15

Ignore the message

WithAFaeryHandInHand · 03/11/2018 08:17

Very cheeky of her. Definitely not your fault.

How much is 30 miles of petrol? I don’t drive very much, but I guess a fiver or so? I’d give it to and take the pushchair back. Sell it on eBay. If it’s a decent brand and you live in somewhere like SE England, you will get a bit of money for it. Take off the petrol money and donate the rest to charity if you like.

I'm betting she wanted to sell it
