It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Blimey! Just done act day 6 - for weight loss.
That's the longest yoga sequence I've done...!
I didn't do the last 2 vinyasas as I was so out of breath! 😟
But, it's a nice one. It builds up. Some nice stretches at the beginning and end.
Makes you warm!

AugustRose · 06/04/2019 18:16

No time for yoga today so I think I will do that day 6 one tomorrow. I think I have done it before but I can't remember, there are so many!

Spudlet · 06/04/2019 19:29

Also did Day 6 today. Unfortunately I hate standing splits so it wasn't my favourite Grin Only ditched one vinyasa though (and the second standing splits on my worse side Blush).

67chevvyimpala · 06/04/2019 20:15

I've not done those before but managed ok ish

noodlezoodle · 06/04/2019 21:42

Have managed a couple of days this week but am a bit restricted as to what I can do as I'm still supposed to be a in boot. I cheated and took it off but even sitting cross-legged was painful so I have been very careful about which poses I do. Yesterday was Adriene's core ritual which is mostly on your back and I'm definitely feeling it today!

Definitely very bored of a sore ankle now though, can't wait to get back to 'proper' yoga.

67chevvyimpala · 07/04/2019 09:12

Yoga for grief today....

quirkychick · 07/04/2019 10:12

I did Adriene's Total body yoga: Deep core today, I'm not sure if it's on the calendar, but it popped up on my YouTube. I did quite a bit of resistance arm exercises yesterday, so the last "mountain climber" bit in plank, I cut short. I'm trying to do two core focused sessions a week. Yesterday, I did a Five Parks posture, which was quite similar to the neck and shoulder stretch one.

"noodle", I hope your ankle feels better soon, I remember having to massively modify poses with a hamstring injury a few years ago, I could only kneel with my knee at a 90° angle. If crossed legged is too hard, can you do some of the seated poses in a chair? Then you at least benefit your upper body, I'm sure some of the post-natal yoga I did modified with a chair, even things like warrior two.

AugustRose · 07/04/2019 11:18

I'm doing the long weight loss one today.

I will wait and do today's yoga for grief when I have the house to myself, my dad died at the end of August last year and on the last day of December I did Adriene's short meditation Resolve to Evolve and I was is absolute pieces, so I think I will need the privacy for this one.

quirkychick · 07/04/2019 12:27

Flowers August.

67chevvyimpala · 07/04/2019 15:07

August 💐
I'm hoping to do it later

67chevvyimpala · 07/04/2019 18:51

I did it.
It was lots of breathing, some nice stretches, quite nice.

noodlezoodle · 08/04/2019 00:03

Thanks quirkychick, the chair is a good idea. I also tried sitting on a bolster and having my injured leg out in front instead of crossed and that worked OK. I'm just a bit grouchy and impatient! I'm sure there's a yoga lesson to be learned here

67chevvyimpala · 08/04/2019 07:49

Its my gym induction today! Eeek.

I shall do a post workout yoga session afterwards

Spudlet · 08/04/2019 08:54

Did a 7am class today so feeling very virtuous! One might almost say slghtly smug. Although came home to a grumpy dh so not sure I'll do it again. It's tricky to get classes in during the school holidays so thougt we'd see if this one worked for all of us but not sure it has (shame because I found it to be a lovely start to the day). Hey ho.

67chevvyimpala · 08/04/2019 12:33

Oh that's a shame spud!

Well I've been to the gym. Ooof.

Just done Adrienne post week out session but tbh it's not really great. Prob wrong bother next time.

I've booked in for the yoga class on Saturday.

Iambuffy · 09/04/2019 18:56

Major phone isues!

(It's me chevvy!)

GreenHatHacker · 09/04/2019 20:41

So the charity yoga class I went to on Saturday turned out to be a really strict Iyenga style teacher. All about holding the pose correctly, stretching deeper - the opposite to Adriene and the 'find what feels good' flow style! I enjoyed it though - it's how I was first introduced to yoga 30 years ago... and made me realise I could perhaps push myself a bit more!

Yesterday I redid Dedicate day 6 Core - and for the first time went through everything without wimping out anywhere. I can feel the abs today, so have been stretching rather than crunching this evening!

Feel I've not done much from Act yet this month - balancing ocean flow has a nice sound to it, might try that tomorrow.

AugustRose · 10/04/2019 00:06

Thanks for the flowers. I did my step again yesterday but no yoga today as we had a family day out, including chips Grin and I wonder why I can't lose weight!

AugustRose · 10/04/2019 11:27

Just did the Balancing Ocean Flow and I really enjoyed it, the sea in the background made me a bit homesick for the sea though.

This is one with a voiceover which means it's quicker than Adriene's normal videos but it gets the heart going nicely. I will definitely do this one again.

DontWorryYoureJustAsSaneAsIAm · 10/04/2019 23:00

Joining the party :)

I’ve just completed dedicate day 5. And I struggled! Totally new to yoga, can’t do the downward dog too well & she moves quite fast into different poses.

My legs won’t move like that for love nor money!

Here’s hoping things can only get better.

Really enjoyed reading the 2 threads, you’re all so motivating!

Iambuffy · 11/04/2019 08:02

Oh it's day 6 core tomorrow then 😃
I like that one and re do it sometimes. When I first did it i couldn't do some of the moves but now I can do persevere!!!or
I'm going to do yoga for a full moment today I think.

Spudlet · 11/04/2019 08:22

Did the ocean flow this morning - that was nice. I've backed right off in standing splits for now but I did do a chaturanga to updog so pleased with that. No crow though... it seems to have gone today!

AugustRose · 11/04/2019 10:26

Welcome to the thread DontWorry it will get easier the more you do it but don't forget to watch Adriene's foundation videos for any poses you find awkward/too much.

I did the Five Parks twisty flow today, I really do love that one and I must be so used to it now that we were on the last holding plank before I realised Grin progress!!

DontWorryYoureJustAsSaneAsIAm · 11/04/2019 11:00

Thank you.

I’ve just finished core. I say finished, that sounds like I could do it all & I couldn’t! I’ve read all your comments on it, so I don’t feel so useless & am hoping to use it as a marker as I get better!

Will try the foundations videos too.

DeadBod · 11/04/2019 12:48

I've not checked in for a while but I'm glad to read that everyone has kept up the sessions.
I've been mixing my week up with Body Combat, Body Pump, a 20/25 minute jog and 3 x yoga sessions. I think that I'm reaping the benefits of the added yoga sessions as I do feel that my arms and legs are looking toned.
I'm going to try the session that been linked above although the way she leaps from downward dog to sitting might result in an injury if I do it Grin
