It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

OP posts:
quirkychick · 02/04/2019 07:37

I've been a bit short of time, the last few mornings, so have done some sun salutations. I'm struggling with the clock change Sad.

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 08:09

My back is sore today:(

I'll do the school run then get to it.

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 09:28

I think it was the hip dips from yesterday that did it.

I'm going to do yoga for psoas again I think

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 10:08

Changed my mind and did yoga for back pain.

Some nice stretches.

Any news on the op? Hope she's ok.

A local gym has a special offer on and I'm thinking of joining...some of you combine yoga and gym practise I think?

How do you do it? How many times do you go to the gym as opposed to doing yoga?

AugustRose · 02/04/2019 12:27

Yoga for the Future for me this morning, I missed out the hip dips though. I am sore from yesterday but still managed it without any difficulty so maybe these long months of yoga have been helping more than I realised.

whitershadeofpale · 02/04/2019 13:30

I was inspired by GreenHatHacker and did day 8 of dedicate instead. Will do either yoga for the future or confidence boost later.

quirkychick · 02/04/2019 13:38

chevvy I can only do hip dips on my forearms, otherwise my back feels painful and wrong. I think the reason lots of don't like them is they are quite a strong pose and need approaching cautiously. A bit like pigeon, you need to do it carefully.

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 16:17

I find pigeon ok, oddly.

The gym Ive just joined does yoga classes so I might give one ago...

quirkychick · 02/04/2019 17:15

I'm fine with pigeon now, still need a block though. I couldn't do it for a long time when I had hamstring issues and related knee issues.

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 17:28

I might do psoas tomorrow.

I like core from dedicate too. I shall get that one in again soon.

GreenHatHacker · 03/04/2019 08:16

A miserable delayed commute last night meant I was too late for yoga. Started this morning with April Day 3, side body stretch. Was glad it started very slowly as was achey & stiff getting out of bed, but had warmed up enough by the time the side plank came around! A bit different, enjoyed it and another for my 'do again' list.

quirkychick · 03/04/2019 17:07

I redid the Five Parks Cardio Core (I definitely can't roll up to chair Shock), but it had its fair share of hip dips, though on forearms as well as side hip dips. I'm going to feel it tomorrow...

AugustRose · 03/04/2019 22:11

I did Confidence Boost Yoga today, legs and arms feeling better so tomorrow should be my next higher impact session, we'll see how I feel i the morning!

quirkychick · 04/04/2019 09:38

I have a slightly stiff neck today, so I did the Five Parks shoulder and neck release. I like Adriene's but find this a deeper stretch. Feeling tired today with the clock change, walking loads and doing the cardio core yesterday and dd2 woke up at 3:30am Angry. I dozed back off, but she didn't go back to sleep until 7:45am, so I ended up dropping her off at school late.

67chevvyimpala · 04/04/2019 13:16

Did psoas today. I managed to get my hands to my heart in pigeon!!!

I'm planning on going to the gym 3 x a week and yoga 3 x week which I hope will tone me up.

AugustRose · 04/04/2019 13:32

OK so now for something completely different. In my 20s (I'm almost 45 now) step aerobics was my favourite workout of choice (I still have my original Reebok Step that DH bought for me - I think it cost him about £80 at the time Shock), I used to do it 3 times a week and felt fantastic, I wasn't too much lighter than now but everything was toned and I looked thinner.

I found this Keli Roberts one on Youtube a few weeks ago, it was the best one I did and had it on video but it was never transferred to DVD. I've been waiting until I felt strong enough to do it and now I feel exhausted but really good. I still can't believe I could ever do it all the way through without stopping. I had also forgotten she does this few minute shavasana type meditation at the end of the abs section.

quirkychick · 04/04/2019 13:39

AugustRose I used to do lots of step aerobics in my 20s too! I used to be able to do it with 2 risers under the steps. One class I went to we used to use weights too Grin.

67chevvyimpala · 05/04/2019 09:38

Did core from day 6 of dedicate

I can do all of it now inc 3 legged dog which was impossible for me 2 months ago....so....progress!

AugustRose · 05/04/2019 11:17

Well done 67 it's great when you recognise the progress you have made.

I haven't looked at the calendar yet so not sure what I'm going to do today. Hope you all have a nice weekend, it's very windy here today and I got up late so not much going on today I don't think.

AugustRose · 05/04/2019 12:59

So I did the Day 3 Side Body Flow, it was good but I kept my knee bent in side plank, just not strong enough for a full side plank yet.

Spudlet · 05/04/2019 20:21

Hello again [waves] I've been chugging away trying to get back into it after we were all unwell, but it's been a struggle! Dh has been really low a few times so that's been a worry, and ds is going through a frustrated period with his speech delay so there's been a fair bit of hitting and kicking. Feeling very tired and not so positive myself, but trundling on through and daily yoga is helping I think.

Hope you're all doing well and feeling good!

67chevvyimpala · 05/04/2019 20:52

That sounds rough spud

Well done for keeping up with it...hope you are feeling the benefit x

GreenHatHacker · 05/04/2019 21:34

Thanks for posting the step video AugustRose So impressed by Keli Roberts' thighs! I don't have a step at home or I'd definitely be up for giving it a go!

Instead I did April day 2 'confidence boost yoga' but don't feel very boosted as the bow pose hurt my lower back & I'm too wobbly to hold the balance. Think I'll try Day 8 'morning yoga to start your day' tomorrow morning to see if it suits better.

Hope things pick up for you soon spud.

67chevvyimpala · 06/04/2019 08:24

I'm hoping to do the day 6 of act today as it's a weight loss one

GreenHatHacker · 06/04/2019 09:16

Will be interested to hear what you think of it 67 I was a bit put off by the length, but would like to fit it in sometime. The 'morning yoga to start your day' was exactly what it said on the tin - a nice routine to wake up, stretch & engage a few muscles.

I have a short taught yoga class to go to this afternoon that a friend has organised as a charity event - slightly nervous about an unfamiliar teacher and all the dodgy parts of my anatomy! Will take a big bag full of blocks & pads!
