It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Green I know what you mean, it's often a pose they shove in at the end too but you spend the whole time thinking about how hard the session might be.

67 being ill is shit, I'm sorry you are still feeling so poorly.

No yoga for a couple of days for me, not sure what I'm going to do today, might combine a couple of the shorter, less strenuous one.

Spudlet · 15/03/2019 10:30

No yoga here for a couple of days either. DS has had a vomiting bug, DH is now on the way home from work feeling peculiar, and I am feeling a bit off as well 🙈 Hoping I can fight it off well enough to look after everyone! Envy

quirkychick · 15/03/2019 17:18

I felt very tired yesterday and just did Adriene's Peace (?) Meditation and a few stretches. Felt better this morning and did a Shiva Rea Evolution Standing flow, lots of intermediate poses I'm "working towards". I broke into a sweat...

GreenHatHacker · 15/03/2019 21:28

Sending healing thoughts to all of you feeling under par recently. Hope you recover swiftly.

I've been freestyling a lot lately, though playing the music from Day 30 Dedicate in the background to still feel part of something! Think it's time to shake things up though - might get stuck into some more of the Five Parks ones people have been recommending to get some new patterns in my workout. I've got the third chakra video lined up for tomorrow morning!

Spudlet · 15/03/2019 22:01

Alas and alack, I am done. Every member of this family now has their own personal bucket, to be carried around at all times.

I see many of the more gentle practices in my nearish future. As soon as I can ditch my bucket that is. Mind you, perks of being the last one standing, I get the new shiny one that I purchased for this very eventuality just today, so silver linings...

67chevvyimpala · 16/03/2019 11:16

Oh spud :(

I'm feeling better but I think it will be Monday until I manage any yoga.

67chevvyimpala · 17/03/2019 10:15

Just done 20 min yoga for when you're sick.

I've got a bit of a headache now!

Hope you're ok spud?

Can any of you recommend any gentle sessions from reset?

I got I'll on day 7 so am really behind
:(

Spudlet · 17/03/2019 10:23

Muddling through. Haven't been able to eat much since Friday morning so not feeling too grand and have just cancelled the class I had booked on Tuesday as I just don't think I'll manage an hour. Sad DS is feeling a lot better though, so that's good.

Really glad you're starting to feel a little better chevvy - try the introduction to yin session maybe? It involves lots of pillows and a blanket, which is always good!

CoteDAzur · 17/03/2019 10:31

Hi everyone. May I join the thread?

Some of you may remember that I crusaded for a Yoga topic back in 2015, ASing and PMing everyone who posted the word "yoga" to conjure up support. About a year later, I managed to give myself a hip injury while doing pigeon poses and had to stop yoga. I'm now getting back into it with two Vinyasa classes. It's good to be back Smile

CoteDAzur · 17/03/2019 10:31

... with two Vinyasa classes per week.

67chevvyimpala · 17/03/2019 11:51

Welcome back cote

Thanks spud

quirkychick · 17/03/2019 21:18

Welcome back, cote, I remember you from previous threads. Thank you for the yoga topic, I now have been doing daily yoga for 3+ yrs. Hurting your hip in pigeon sounds very painful, glad you're better now.

I did the Five Parks Shoulder stretch again today, I really like it as I get tight shoulders.

Chevvy I did the 10 mins meditation one on Adriene's reset the other day, I think it's called Peace. Just sitting, no movement, I'd had very little sleep and felt crap, it was just right. The Intro to Yin is good, but longer. Lots of lying on cushions with blankets, but you could always skip any poses that feel too much. I hope you and spud feel better soon.

CoteDAzur · 17/03/2019 22:54

Thank you Smile I'm looking forward to my Vinyasa class tomorrow morning. It's pathetic how much flexibility and strength I have lost, but I can feel it coming back little by little.

67chevvyimpala · 18/03/2019 09:14

I'll do the yin one later...waiting for the oven engineer.....

whitershadeofpale · 18/03/2019 12:30

Welcome back Cote.

I've been a bit rubbish with updating the thread and have mainly been freestyling. I spent almost a week walking like C3PO after roller derby training but I'm getting stronger now and using using to stretch and strengthen helps.

67chevvyimpala · 19/03/2019 09:29

I've done the 10 minute focus and productivity yoga today from reset.

I'm going to have to do a few shorter sessions until I'm feeling better I think.

I might do the psoas one tomorrow.

CoteDAzur · 19/03/2019 10:54

My yoga class was quite tough today. There was a point when I thought my upper arms would just fall off Blush It doesn't help that I have fragile knees, dodgy hips and one weak wrist, but I adapt the poses and do what I can.

It's great to be getting back into yoga anyway, and I've already started seeing improvements.

quirkychick · 19/03/2019 14:33

I did the Five Parks Energising morning one today. Tough but good. I need a block for half moon and my left hip is very wobbly. I realise how inflexible my hips, generally, are in gate pose too.

chevvy just go slowly and choose restorative practices. I know it's frustrating, I struggled with it when I caught dd2's lurgy and had to pull back on Adriene's dedicate, as I just wasn't well enough.

67chevvyimpala · 19/03/2019 14:37

I'll have to quirky theres no way I could do core or one of the harder flows atm.

Spudlet · 19/03/2019 16:22

Still feeling a bit wobbly here, haven't managed to practice since Wednesday (or Thursday? The days are merging into one another). Really missing it now Sad My teacher runs a class on a Sunday morning that's close to home and normally fairly gentle, hoping I'll be able to get to that this weekend but if I'm still feeling like this I'm not sure I will Sad

Got a new mat in the post so maybe that will help me back into it!

67chevvyimpala · 19/03/2019 16:43

Hope you improve spud

GreenHatHacker · 19/03/2019 21:05

Thanks to those of you who have been talking about the slower, stretchier Five Parks videos. I've been looking through the back catalogue and did the 30 min slow flow deep stretch session this evening. Challenging in places (my spine & hips making noises like a xylophone!) but certainly one I'll come back to.

quirkychick · 20/03/2019 06:53

GreenHat, I really like the Five Parks stretches, she uses some different poses but shows you lots of modifications. I also think the modifications can show you where you are going, in terms of the next stage of the pose. I redid the shoulder one at the weekend. Slow and stretchy is good when you don't feel up to fast and energetic, it's good to do both.

AugustRose · 20/03/2019 11:12

Hi everyone, I've been a bit quiet on here for a few days but am slowly getting on with it, a mix of Adriene and Five Parks. I did Adriene's 55 min shakti power flow just now and it was good, I feel well worked out Grin I'm still missing out chatarunga and going from plank to downward facing dog. I think my shoulder pain might be linked to arthritis as it's in both shoulders and always worse in the morning - I will eventually go to the docs to find out, my sister has arthritis from the neck down and it worries me that I might end up like her Sad.

On a plus note I have realised that if I move my feet slightly forward I can almost touch both heels down in downward dog, and it helps so much with the pose and 3 legged dog as far as weight bearing on my hands.

Welcome back Cote I hurt myself with pigeon pose last and have to be very careful not to do it again, I usually use a cushion or block under my hip for support now.

quirkychick · 20/03/2019 14:20

Oh, AugustRose, I hope your shoulders are ok. I always have a block under my hip for pigeon, but I had to stop doing it for a long time when I had hamstring tendonitis. I used to often do a forward fold with crossed legs instead.
