It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Started "strength and focus" but 20 mins in decided I was no longer strong nor focussed, so went free style at my own pace for another half hour. Nice to have the freedom on a weekend morning to do whatever you like.

The Five Parks Core sounds lots of fun quirky - may give it a try when looking for some dynamism.

I think I like the 20 min targeted sessions the best when following a video - feel like something has been achieved without being overwhelmed!

67chevvyimpala · 09/03/2019 09:25

Yep. I was right. Cough. Ugh.

AugustRose · 09/03/2019 11:56

Oh no chevvy I hope it doesn't last long.

I did the stress melt this morning which was good after a busy week, however, the first 10 mins is seated with a bit of waffle for anyone not able or not wanting to sit that long.

I don't think I'll be trying that Five Parks Core one just yet quirky but I did notice a new one - yoga for the 3rd chakra - so I might try that one tomorrow as I'll have a bit longer.

I managed to stay upright at the ceilidh and it was good fun, if a bit chaotic Grin

quirkychick · 09/03/2019 18:28

GreenHat I don't think it's supposed to be funny, but my attempts definitely were! I was prepared to modify as necessary, just as well.

AugustRose there's quite a few chakra ones, I noticed. One on binds too, that I might check out.

Sad chevvy, get well soon.

Spudlet · 09/03/2019 18:48

I might look at the binds one, I'd like to start introducing some.

I did the 8 minute core session followed by the intro to yin - one went nicely after the other. The yin one was very similar to what we do at the end of my classes so when I have time (pause for hollow laughter) I might stick that one on after one of the more active ones.

Spudlet · 09/03/2019 18:50

DH walked into the room at the end of the yin video and found me in shavasana with a pillow under my head and a blanket pulled up to my chin, and asked me if I felt unwell GrinGrin

quirkychick · 10/03/2019 10:17

I tried the Five Parks all kinds of binds one, I managed to do quite a bit (it's 50 mins) but skipped the second standing section, as I pushed myself yesterday and have a slight twingy shoulder. Spudlet, there are quite a few binds ones, the seated/supine binds one looks good (shorter too).

I love the Intro into Yin, if you feel a bit crappy for whatever reason, it's so lovely.

AugustRose · 10/03/2019 11:36

So I tried the 3rd chakra one (core really) and it was pretty hard and I had to rest in places. But I really like the constant movement and the different poses she uses, they are good for when you need to feel like you've had a good workout and it definitely was that. It might have been easier if I wasn't looking at her lovely, sunny environment while the snow is falling outside my window Sad

noodlezoodle · 10/03/2019 18:40

I did Adriene's Yoga for Change and Drain today, expecting it to be nice and peaceful and it was much harder than I was expecting! Really enjoyed it though, bookmarked it to come back to.

Spudlet · 10/03/2019 19:20

I too was slightly blindsided by that one noodle Grin

In other news, my yoga mat smells so lovely after spraying it yesterday I kind of want a practice consisting mostly of lying flat on my face... and the muck that lifted off it! Shock Clean your mats, people!

GreenHatHacker · 10/03/2019 21:47

What was the spray recipe spudlet?

noodlezoodle · 11/03/2019 00:52

Yes Spudlet, no one enjoys an unexpected forearm plank Grin

Spudlet · 11/03/2019 07:15

It is witch hazel, water, tea tree oil and lavender oil. You get a little spray bottle and half fill it with witch hazel, top it up to full with water, then add a couple of drops each of the oils and mix it all up.

67chevvyimpala · 11/03/2019 09:55

Laryngitis.

Marvellous.

quirkychick · 11/03/2019 13:17

Sad oh chevvy hope you feel better soon. Rest up. Flowers

Spudlet · 11/03/2019 14:21

Oh no chevvy! Tske it easy and get well soon Flowers

67chevvyimpala · 11/03/2019 16:51

Thank you x

GreenHatHacker · 11/03/2019 21:17

Change & Drain for me tonight - with the warning from noodle and spud, I was prepared for the forearm plank, though a bit pathetic on the dips! Must just have a dedicated freestyle session playing with the technique to stop tipping over quite so much!

Poor 67, take care of yourself & hope you feel better soon.

quirkychick · 12/03/2019 07:25

I did Adriene's Calm Movement Medicine practice this morning, as dd2 slept badly and I have a busy day (wouldn't you know), with a meeting and my parents arriving later. Short and sweet, with some good stretches, but slow enough when you're tired.

Spudlet · 12/03/2019 11:12

Yoga for self discipline for me today - blimey, that warmed the legs up. I wanted a longer practice as no class this week. Aaaand - I did another crow, for a bit longer this time! 🐣 Feeling the prouds (also the shakes) Grin

AugustRose · 12/03/2019 13:19

Spudlet well done on the crow, it's a hard pose to master as you have to feel really strong in the core to get up!

Yesterday I did the 9 min Yoga for Focus & Productivity followed by the Change & Drain. Today I have done the Five Parks 1st Chakra. It is long at almost an hour (Shock I know right) but it has lots of modifications so you get really good, strong stretches without it ever feeling too much, I missed out the charatunga between some of the poses and went straight to down dog.

quirkychick · 12/03/2019 16:11

Well done, Spudlet on the crow.

I've been eyeing that one up August for when I've got more time.

Spudlet · 12/03/2019 16:15

It really really helps to perch on a block to begin with (as per the Foundations video on the pose). Makes it so much easier to lean into it!

I saw a video of someone moving from a headstand into crow and back... one day possibly decades away...

GreenHatHacker · 13/03/2019 20:20

I wonder why they choose the most extreme position of a session as the holding picture of the videos? I was quite alarmed by the picture for Calm Movement Medicine this morning and I've had the same thought for some earlier ones. Maybe I'm cowardly, but it tends to psyche me out!

67chevvyimpala · 14/03/2019 06:51

It's now been a week since I've done any yoga and I still feel so ill :(

Fed up.
