It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

August That's awful! Shock Is there a 'yoga for after you've bashed someone repeatedly over the head'? Grin

Class for me tonight, I hope it's a good stress relieving one as it has been A Day here. Got stuck on an aspect of my course for an hour so didn't have time to go food shopping, then collected DS from preschool and he has conjunctivitis again. So back to pinning him down to apply ointment 4 times a day. Thank goodness DH was working from home today as he could explain the thing I was stuck on, and also pinned DS down for me to apply the stuff - doing it by myself would have been next to impossible!

And breathe...

67chevvyimpala · 05/03/2019 18:26

spud if ds is small enough I found wrapping the child in a towel really tight then applying cream/medicine etc is easier :)

I'm SO tired!

I'm going to try and do yoga at bedtime...isn't there one for when you're actually in bed??

GreenHatHacker · 05/03/2019 21:10

Sending good wishes to 67's poorly family and congrats to august for sorting out institutional sexism!

Did the 'yoga for a bad mood' today - not so much my own bad mood, but had just finished reading Michelle Obama's autobiography - the last chapter covering her worries about what Trump as president means for women (grrrr). It was actually quite a slow moving session and another of those from a few years back where Adriene looks very young!

quirkychick · 06/03/2019 07:20

I did the Five Parks Yoga 20 morning sequence, this started off with lots of stretches and then 5 quick sun salutations. Not as tough as some of the other flows, but feel energised all the same.

Dd2 has eye drops for eye tests, we often do the towel wrapping thing. One gp recommended putting drops on the tearducts, so they can link them in.

GreenHatHacker · 06/03/2019 07:53

Psyched myself up to do the Core Power Up session this morning, though ended up taking a couple of breaks in down dog listening to Adriene powering on when my shoulders got worn out!

Even considering down dog to be a rest pose is so much further on than the start of the year - I used to hate down dog in classes (tho our teacher did used to make us haul each other up with a belt around the hips, quite an extreme practise!)

67chevvyimpala · 06/03/2019 08:26

I must do some yoga today!

I miss it :(

Spudlet · 06/03/2019 09:27

WIll try the towel wrapping thing (I seem to remember James Herriot doing something similar to a cat?), since my pinner-downer has declined to work from home today!

Went to class last night, it was a good one. Stronger than normal with lots of vinyasas. We have a week's break now while the shiny new leisure centre finishes being refurbished, so the class teacher was testing some new ideas I think, then there will be loads more new classes so I think I might even be able to go twice a week, in term time at least. V exciting.

Need something a bit gentler today I think so may do one of the wind-down ones. Or, given the eye ointment situation, possibly a post-combat one Grin

Definitely nowhere near as sore after the core video I did on Monday as I was after the first time in January so really pleased about that!

AugustRose · 06/03/2019 09:30

Oh I hate having to give eye drops, my youngest 2 both have glasses and twice a year visit the hospital for eye tests which included the drops. DD2 was a nightmare, kick and cry and scrunch up her eyes, it once took me plus 2 hospital staff to get them in Blush - this is my otherwise quiet and calm child! Thankfully they have both been discharged so just regular optician now.

I did the bad mood one yesterday and felt better (yes Adriene looks so much younger) although my should hurt for a little while after. I'll try the peaceful warrier today and see how it goes.

Spudlet · 06/03/2019 09:46

We have to do the eye test thing too - thankfully just once a year. Took three of us last time as well. DH is definitely having time off work to come with us for that!

Thinking of trying to make some yoga mat spray at some point this week too as my mat is a bit whiffy - and the dog sits on it a lot Grin

67chevvyimpala · 06/03/2019 14:48

So I've done freedom flow from reset day 4 and I can tell I'm feeling under the weather because I found it quite hard!

Might have to do some of the more gentle ones from care til I feel better...

GreenHatHacker · 06/03/2019 19:53

I actually gave up partway through freedom flow 67, was too much for me the day I tried it!

noodlezoodle · 06/03/2019 20:52

I've learned a valuable lesson today... tried the 'vigorous vinyasa flow' from Five Parks. Not only was it far too vigorous for me, it was miles too fast and I eventually fell over in a sweaty heap Grin It made me realise much slower Adriene's classes tend to be.

67chevvyimpala · 06/03/2019 21:29

You've made me feel a bit better green thank you! I actually over balanced at one point and I thought "Ive only missed 2 days!"

Just hoping I dont catch ds2s virus 😷

quirkychick · 07/03/2019 06:51

noodlezoodle the Five Parks flows are much faster (and harder), the stretch ones are slower and have more modifications and alignment help, though. Adriene often spends quite a lot of time talking you through poses.

noodlezoodle · 07/03/2019 19:12

Thanks quirkychick, I think I definitely just chose the wrong one! For now I'll be avoiding anything with 'vigorous' or 'advanced' in the title Grin

I do like the look of the complete vinyasa and the deep stretch though, will give those a go.

Today I did Adriene's Day 21, Light from Dedicate - it was a nice stretch as I'm still a bit sore from yesterday. Might alternate days between Adriene and Five Parks so I'm getting a harder day and a gentler day.

AugustRose · 07/03/2019 20:20

noodle that's what I have been doing, I want to build up to being able to do one of the Five Parks vigorous ones but it might be some time off yet.

This morning I did day 7 from March's calendar, Yoga for Self Doubt followed by the core power wake up from day 2, that was quite a workout but I had to give the hip dips a miss as they were twisting my should (yes that is a valid reason and no it's not just because I don't like them, honest Grin)

67chevvyimpala · 07/03/2019 20:21

Thursday is a busy day so I haven't done any yoga yet.

I might do a before bed one

Spudlet · 07/03/2019 20:32

Did the head and heart reset this evening. It's been a shitty day, what with one thing and another, and I needed some soothing waffle.

It helped a bit. Post yoga wine helping a bit more. Hey ho.

quirkychick · 08/03/2019 06:54

AugustRose I can only do the hip dips from a forearm plank, otherwise they pull my lower back in a not good way. Be gentle with your shoulder, shoulder injuries can be nasty, there's quite a few muscles that can be affected.

Hope you have a better day, Spudlet.

67chevvyimpala · 08/03/2019 07:45

I might do yoga for when you're ill

AugustRose · 08/03/2019 11:06

I did tomorrow's Yoga for Strength and Focus as I have more time today, I have done this one before a few times and it is good but hard work on the legs in the second half. But that's good because I have been trying to focus on leg position and really using my core to keep me up and it seems to be working.

I might regret it later though as I promised to take my youngest 2 DC to the school ceilidh, let's hope I don't fall over and embarrass myself Blush

67chevvyimpala · 08/03/2019 11:21

Well I think I am succumbing to ds1s lurgy 😷

Spudlet · 08/03/2019 15:09

Strength and focus here today too... feel the shake! Managed to get into crow although only for a few seconds before I went forwards... I was there though. Well pleased. A better day all round so far today.

Hope you shake the lurgy off chevvy! And that you remain appropriately vertical August Grin

quirkychick · 08/03/2019 16:15

Oh no, chevvy, I hope you feel better soon. Try to get some rest, if you can.

quirkychick · 09/03/2019 08:51

Well, I thought I'd do some core and tried the Five Parks 20mins Cardio and Core GrinGrinGrin. That was hysterical and hard. It had hips dips (from forearm plank) and hips dips from side plank as well as rock and rolling like Adriene but up into chair. I'm hot and a bit breathless and I had to slow down and stop quite a few times, more than met my edge! I might need something very gentle tomorrow...
