It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Aw spud I miss mind being little sometimes

noodlezoodle · 27/02/2019 19:34

Holy moly, I just looked at the Five Parks Advanced Deep Stretch - the 40 min one - and thought that's what you'd all been doing. It's terrifying! She's just casually doing the splits and other things that I would either never manage or would get totally stuck in Grin. Will check out the 20 minute one instead!

GreenHatHacker · 27/02/2019 21:36

Thanks for recommending the Five Parks deep stretch - had a nice go at that one, although took a while to work out just what on earth was happening with the pre-pigeon twist thing!

I'm lucky in that I have very flexible hips, always been able to do lotus etc - but I have very poor shoulder mobility. That one where you clasp hands behind back, tip forward then move clasped arms down towards head - my arms just don't move and I can't work out what would loosen them. Ideas welcomed!

Looking through the March calendar, sounding like some nice ones in there - DP v amused by the 'yoga for when you're in a bad mood'!

quirkychick · 28/02/2019 07:27

GreenHat the Five Parks neck and shoulder is excellent too, I think with flexibility it's a case of keep stretching (safely) and your body increases it's strength and range of motion over time.

Very tired this morning and I could have done with a Yoga for when you feel shit awful 'cos your dd has been awake since 2:30am Angry. So, I needed something more gentle, went back to Adriene's yoga for flexibility, as I feel stiff from falling asleep with exhaustion and holding a pillow over my face due to a noisy child.

67chevvyimpala · 28/02/2019 07:47

I'll have to do mine later.
Thursdays are a bit fraught.

Spudlet · 28/02/2019 09:41

Energising morning yoga for me today, so I just need a little lie down now Grin

Started foundations last night with dh - we did warrior 1 and warrior 2. Which ended up as me holding each for the duration of each video which was surprisingly tough on the legs, especially as dh had the mat so I was on slippy carpet! Going to get him to do downward dog later I think, and perhaps triangle, maybe also baby cobra - then we have the basis for a little vinyasa.

Quirky Nooooo, hope your dd sleeps better tonight! I think Adriene needs a video you can do with a toddler jumping up and down on you and a other for totally knackered parents / carers...

AugustRose · 28/02/2019 10:31

I tried this one today

I wasn't as sweaty as I thought I would be but it has lots of downward dog and chatarunga, not just in the sun salutations at the start. I can only do so many before it hurts, and my right hip is also hurting now Sad so I don't think I will come back to this one. Maybe I just need to slow it down again.

67chevvyimpala · 28/02/2019 16:56

Nice stretches

Looking forward to March and reset!

67chevvyimpala · 01/03/2019 11:38

First day of reset done.

Lovely.

I got a bit warm in one part :)

whitershadeofpale · 01/03/2019 11:55

I've been a bit crap in February. I've done some at least twice a week but they've been quite short. Has post virus fatigued and just couldn't be arsed.

I am raring to go for March though and have added a tracker in my bullet journal. I also treated myself to a new top Grin

I'm really pleased I've kept it up and very grateful to the OP for starting this thread.

I've missed about 5 days in total since 1st Jan which is amazing for me!

quirkychick · 01/03/2019 13:56

I did the Five Parks 18 mins Morning Boost this morning. It was good, but quite fast, I couldn't do the handstands, though!

I think I missed a couple of days with the horrible virus, but I think that's allowed.

67chevvyimpala · 01/03/2019 14:03

I had 2 days feeling crappy so didnt do any.

I did do the yoga for when you're ill. That was quite nice.

Its core tomorrow (wibble)

AugustRose · 01/03/2019 19:10

No yoga for me today, I really hurt myself yesterday so thought it was best to have a rest day. I might still go with the core tomorrow if it'a mainly floor work but I'll check first, my shoulder is very sore.

67chevvyimpala · 01/03/2019 20:18

Oh no! How did you hurt yourself august??

GreenHatHacker · 01/03/2019 21:36

Poor august, rest & recover.
A gentle evening of improvisation for me tonight, working around the DOMS from a killer Pilates class yesterday! Hope to pick up with Adriene again tomorrow.

Two months in and this has become something that is very natural to do each day - I really miss it if I can't fit in a session. Mixing it up with energetic sessions at the weekend and mornings of the days I work from home, relaxing stretchy sessions at the end of normal working days after tiring commute. This last week I've really noticed a difference in my seated forward bends - still not anywhere near 'head to knee', but now at 'head on block resting on knee'!

I know it's improving my mental state too. I had a weird few weeks where stretches would trigger memories of a stressful time in my life - almost like I was getting embedded tension out of my mind & body together. Those 'flashbacks' have worked through now and I realised tonight I've been more peaceful in my mind.

Let's see what month three brings! Happy March everyone!

quirkychick · 02/03/2019 08:59

August rest up, I hope your shoulder feels better soon.

I've mostly been doing Five Parks this week and with a bit more time this morning, I did the 35 mins Deep Stretch for Hips and Hamstrings, as I had a hamstring injury a few years ago and like to stop any niggles from doing lots of walking, I also get tight hips, particularly my left one. This felt really good after and although it was slow, my heart rate definitely went up at one point - I couldn't hold upward dog anywhere near as long as she did! Another one with pigeon, and although I still need a block under my hip, I can hold the pose with my forehead resting on my hands on the floor quite easily now.

GreenHat that's great, I do both yoga and Headspace, and find it really helps my clarity of thought. I'm not massively an anxious person, but situations which would have made me panicky, very rarely do now and I feel I can tackle things much more calmly.

67chevvyimpala · 02/03/2019 12:36

Might have to do a quick one later...ds2 not well and I'm busy cleaningexciting

DeadBod · 02/03/2019 17:28

I've not checked in for a week or so as I've been skiing. There is a session for yoga apres ski but we were sharing a chalet with a few others and there was no room or opportunity to get a mat out unfortunately.
I've been for a 20 minute jog today and rounded off with a Five Parks stretch.
Feeling proud that we're into our 3rd month.

quirkychick · 03/03/2019 10:44

I did the Five Parks "twisty" (mandala) one, Complete Vinyasa one, thank you AugustRose, I hope you are feeling better. I do a Shiva Rea mandala one before, so had moved around the mat before and the first half wasn't so bad, but the added half moons later were tricky, especially on the left side where I used a chair to help balance. It's definitely quite a work out, but I'll come back to it. One of the things I want to work on this year is my hip and shoulder flexibility.

quirkychick · 03/03/2019 10:45

Ah, typos: I do a Shiva Rea mandala one that should read!

67chevvyimpala · 03/03/2019 10:49

Struggling for time this weekend - so I've just done the 5 min yoga wake up one.

Ds2 ill so disturbed nights here atm.

Hoping to get back to reset tomorrow.

AugustRose · 03/03/2019 11:09

My shoulder is slightly better so I'm going to look for a hands free one today, I left it two days to help. I hurt it on that last Five Parks one, I kept doing all the chatarunga when I should have rested and it's just done a bit of damage.

Can you believe it's March already!

67chevvyimpala · 03/03/2019 13:24

Ive just wrenched my back getting stuff down from the loft...grrr

whitershadeofpale · 03/03/2019 14:58

I did roller derby for the first time yesterday and can barely move. Any suggestions for a good stretch out for the thighs and lower back?
