It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Has anyone done any of the 30 days programmes as a complete and total, never practiced before beginner? As I'd happily run through any one of them again but obviously want dh to be practicing safely. He won't go to a class (well I very much doubt he will - he'd find it too stressful) so that's probably not an option.

quirkychick · 21/02/2019 10:17

When I did the original 30 days, I had done some yoga before, but not for years. The foundations stuff would probably help in conjunction, as it goes back to basics and alignment.

AugustRose · 21/02/2019 10:19

I did the the original 30 days of yoga having never done it before, however I wouldn't recommend it to someone now - I would suggest they at least look at the foundations videos to practice the poses first. Or one of the beginner sessions, because I didn't know the poses I had to keep looking at the video and it made me dizzy, it took me until day 10 before I felt I could manage to breathe with the movement and stop feeling dizzy.

I have just done the Feb Day 2 - yoga to gain perspective as I missed it with being ill, it felt good and the side planks were easier to do.

quirkychick · 21/02/2019 12:50

I seem to agree with AugustRose Smile.

67chevvyimpala · 21/02/2019 15:19

spud total beginner here

Spudlet · 21/02/2019 17:40

Cool, thank you. We're going to do an easy one tonight, nice and gentle. I did (tried to anyway) do the yoga for healthy energy flow one again today but DS and ddog had other ideas, they were both camped on the mat at one point then DS tried to sit on me in downward dog Grin Still, it made us both laugh!

GreenHatHacker · 22/02/2019 08:10

How lovely to hear that DPs and DCs are joining in too! Even my Mum was talking about trying - she's 75 and has rheumatoid arthritis, so is worried about joints, especially her shoulder. Does anyone know of a gentle mobiliser routine she could start with?

67chevvyimpala · 22/02/2019 10:16

Yesterday was manic so no yoga :(

Back to care day 22 today - 5 min wake up yoga.

Did it with ds2.

Tomorrow I'll do core again as I'm not a climber :)

AugustRose · 22/02/2019 11:10

I did the Five Parks one with the twisty turns around the mat again, sweaty again and feeling great and sun is shining Grin

quirkychick · 23/02/2019 08:37

I've been doing a mixture of Shiva Rea vinyasa flow (slower stretcher ones) and sun salutations this week, today I went back to the Yoga for Psoas, I think it's a new favourite, I've done it 3 times this month! I do have tight hips, which can cause lower back and hamstring issues, so the stretching is good Smile. I'm hoping to get back to some faster flows this coming week.

blog.myfitnesspal.com/ this article has benefits of fast and slow yoga, so doing a mixture is good.

Spudlet · 23/02/2019 08:51

Did some sun salutations yesterday from the original 30 days, then the foundations of yoga for crow one. Cue lots of hopping about on a block and one faceplant - did have some safety cushions at the ready though so not too serious Grin I managed about 2 seconds of crow I think, but it was a very drunk, wobbly bird!

Could feel that in my wrists a bit so thinking that I'll do something much gentler tonight, to give them a rest, although they feel ok this morning. Will return to crow next week at some point.

67chevvyimpala · 23/02/2019 09:27

I've done yoga for psoas today too!

It's a great stretchy one.

Back to Feb calendar tomorrow.

Is there a March one?

quirkychick · 23/02/2019 12:39

I think there's a calendar each month except Jan when it's a 30 day yoga special. I haven't had an email about March, yet.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 24/02/2019 07:23

Morning all. I'm checking back in after falling by the wayside 3 weeks into dedicate.

I have had a bad back this week so I have been doing adriene's yoga for lower back pain a couple of times a day. It's really helping.

It's made me realise I need to get back into strengthening my core and stretching so I'm going to start again properly.

I'll do some of my favourites from dedicate and then follow the march calendar. I just got my email. It looks good and no long ones.

67chevvyimpala · 24/02/2019 08:07

Hi!
I like core and psoas from dedicate

67chevvyimpala · 24/02/2019 09:20

Its bedtime yoga today so I'll be doing it later.
I got my March e mail too :)

quirkychick · 24/02/2019 09:40

I got my email this morning, too. I did the Five Parks Yoga this morning, the first time since before I had the lurgy, so feeling pleased with myself Smile. The video after is the "impossible" yoga with a woman (Laura ?) doing the most amazing ashtanga sequence, very inspiring for someone not very flexible!

noodlezoodle · 24/02/2019 18:44

I felt really rough yesterday so I did the Intro to Yin and it was really lovely. Recommend if you're feeling under the weather. I'm looking forward to trying today's wind-down one, but I might also try the Yoga for Climbers this afternoon if I can summon up the energy - it looks like a good one.

AugustRose · 24/02/2019 19:47

Just a few of my own stretches yesterday as I was away from home, I might try and do the wind down one today as I've not long been home, but I didn't get the e-mails for some reason Confused I have all the others and haven't unsubscribed so I don't know what happened there.

GreenHatHacker · 24/02/2019 20:54

Look what I found in TK Max! It's a yogic knee pillow! Now I can do gate pose & mermaid pose without hurting my injured knee - I didn't even know such a thing existed to try looking for one.

GreenHatHacker · 24/02/2019 20:56

Have been travelling for a couple of days, staying in a hotel room where you could barely walk around the bed, let alone stretch to do yoga. Planning to do something challenging tomorrow morning to make up for it - maybe the Five Parks vinyasa, if I can psyche myself up!

67chevvyimpala · 24/02/2019 20:56

Some nice stretches but my left hip really twinged!

I'll check out a yoga knee pillow!

noodlezoodle · 25/02/2019 05:56

GreenHat, that looks great! I have a mini-yoga knee mat which is as wide as my yoga mat but not very 'tall' and is really thick - I have quite tender (knobbly) knees so I often grab it when there are low lunges or other knee-heavy poses. It's great!

Still feeling a bit poorly so I did the wind-down yoga today and it was absolutely lovely - went by in a flash and am definitely bookmarking it for future use - will probably be a really good after-work practice.

quirkychick · 25/02/2019 07:33

That looks great Greenhat (we have similar carpet too Smile).

I've just done the Five Parks shoulder and neck release, thanks for whoever recommended that, it's really good I'll be coming back to this again. Lots of modifications too, for all levels, whereas the Rise & Shine one is definitely not beginner level. It's good to hear that she finds heart-melting or puppy pose intense too, I always find it challenging rather than relaxing due to tight shoulders.

67chevvyimpala · 25/02/2019 07:54

Its a short one today so I might do a night time one too.
