It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

I'm doing hips today as it's my busy day and I can fit that in

Cherrypi · 14/02/2019 09:55

I enjoyed hips yesterday. Was told yoga was inappropriate for a Christian yesterday at my church course yesterday. I’m going to carry on being inappropriate.

Spudlet · 14/02/2019 10:26

Did the Yoga for healhy energy flow today - that core bit at the end generated some heat! Very pleased though cos I lowered all the way down from plank with dropping my knees or collapsing in a heap. Coildn't do that at the start of the year. It's very, very pleasing to see results from all this yoga, not just in how I look but in what I can do.

Btw if anyone needs new yoga gear I can recommend Decathlon - my new leggings arrived yesterday and are totally opaque, and v soft and comfy. Ended up keeping a pair of cotton yoga pants too as they also feel lovely and soft. And not expensive at all! Will be looking there for my new mat when I finally get round to getting one.

AugustRose · 14/02/2019 11:09

Probably won't get the chance to do much today so might try for the bedtime yoga later.

The weight loss videos differ to be honest, some are slightly quicker and they include a bit more flow/holding/abs type stuff and usually longer. I think I will stick with the Five Parks videos for the days I need something quick moving and sweaty.

quirkychick · 14/02/2019 14:46

Cherrypi Smile at being inappropriate. I'm really no expert, but have known plenty of Christians who have practised yoga.

AugustRose · 14/02/2019 15:33

I remember a thread on here a few years ago where someone had hired a church hall to run a fitness class, but when the person in charge realised it was for yoga they told the instructor she couldn't use the hall because it 'wasn't christian' Confused

67chevvyimpala · 14/02/2019 15:41

I just wont tell the vicar then :)

QueenofLouisiana · 14/02/2019 18:43

We’ve had children withdrawn from classes which include yoga practice at school- we are a CofE academy.
FWIW, the academy trust think if its staff want to practise yoga, we should go for it. It encourages relaxation, mindfulness and a chance to cope with the stresses of teaching.

67chevvyimpala · 14/02/2019 19:27

Well I'm a Christian and I love it

goes to hell 🙄😁😈

So I managed to fit today's sessions in, inbetween dropping and collecting DD2 at guides and it felt really different doing yoga at this time of day, I liked it and the session is one I think I will come back to. What I also noticed is that in downward dog my heels were closer to the floor Shock so my achilles are obviously so much tighter earlier in the day.

GreenHatHacker · 14/02/2019 20:34

augustrose I find the same with downward dog in the evening - after one very hot bath, I startled myself by getting my feet completely flat!

Went for a gentle stretchy one again tonight, but glad to know today's was good - it was the phrase "fiery vinyasa flow" that put me off, but I'll give it a go at the weekend when I have more energy.

67chevvyimpala · 15/02/2019 09:42

Morning.
I've done todays and added core again.
I actually managed the 2 legged dog this time!
I might try try yoga for weight loss tomorrow.

whitershadeofpale · 15/02/2019 10:04

I'm back and ready to do a proper session when I get in later. Was too knackered to do anything yesterday. I've got my workshop on Sunday so that should give me a good boost.

Spudlet · 15/02/2019 19:35

Yoga for when you are sick for me today... [shakes fist weakly at preschooler lurgy]

Nice stretchy one though, with all the pillows. And it means I haven't fallen off the yoga wagon, so all good.

67chevvyimpala · 15/02/2019 19:45

3 legged dog I meant!

spud hope you feel better soon. I've done the yoga for when you're I'll and it is a nice one.

GreenHatHacker · 15/02/2019 22:05

Hmmm, can't find 'yoga for when you've had too much red wine', so better give it a miss tonight in case I fall over!

GreenHatHacker · 16/02/2019 11:33

Did February Day 14 'yoga for love' today and, like AugustRose I thought it was a really nice one to store on the 'do again' list. An energetic, but not exhausting flow and the chance to feel how much I've improved since the beginning of Jan... with a bit of hoiking I can now step forward from downdog to get my foot up between my hands - thought I was just built wrong to ever achieve that!

67chevvyimpala · 16/02/2019 11:35

Might have to do a shorter bedtime one later...

I'll do weight loss tomorrow

I struggle to find time on a Saturday:(

quirkychick · 16/02/2019 13:22

I have more time on a Saturday in theory so did the 30mins yoga for sensitive knees, as I've been rushing around busy for the last couple of days. Elderly mil has gone back into hospital, so a bit frenetic here. I wished I'd done the knees one a couple of years ago, when I had tendonitis behind my knee and could hardly bend it!

Hope you feel better soon, spud, there's some nasty bugs about.

67chevvyimpala · 17/02/2019 08:35

It's a short one today which is good as im feeling a bit grotty

67chevvyimpala · 17/02/2019 09:32

That was nice.
I needed that to wake up!

AugustRose · 17/02/2019 11:10

I did a yoga for the shoulders/chest on Friday as my shoulders are very sore and it was good. I didn't have much time yesterday so I just did my own stretches in the morning and then some more in the evening.

I did yesterday's yoga for stress management this morning, I chose it because it was longer even though I am not particularly stressed. It was OK but a bit slow to start, which I suppose is the point.

I am finding that if I don't do anything I really miss it, maybe this is the point of trying to do something every day so it becomes part of your life.

67chevvyimpala · 17/02/2019 13:46

Yes I miss it too

quirkychick · 17/02/2019 17:28

I miss it if I don't do yoga, as well, it's now such a habit, I just do it, unless I'm too ill.

I very slightly tinged my back yesterday, so did the Yoga for Back Pain this morning (although I'm not in pain) which was a 30+mins one. It was a really good and stretchy one with a pigeon pose.

GreenHatHacker · 17/02/2019 17:51

It's the 'making time for yourself on the mat' thing isn't it? It's helping me prioritise my health more than I used to - definitely seeing the benefit in less anxiety, as well as stronger muscles!

Yoga for Stress Management for me today - OK, but not one I'd turn to again. Felt the planks in the triceps though, after all the planking in Yoga for Love yesterday!
