Thank you! I would love to do the job. I love a challenge and I love seeing the end reward of the hard work. If it’s meant to be then it will be. I just wished that the interview went a lot better but I didn’t have enough time to rearrange my thoughts to answer the questions the way I would have liked. But I’ll know for other interviews in the future xx

Ishy20 · 13/08/2020 17:59

How do you know how many applications there are? I would be interested to know how many applicants there are in my area ...

Raintonrebel · 13/08/2020 18:14

My friend works in Longbenton, he told me

Ishy20 · 13/08/2020 19:18

That’s helpful!

Raintonrebel · 13/08/2020 22:48

would be more helpful if he had some sway with HR!! Haha

apparently when the applications go to GRS they dont have names on or anything, just the examples so they are looking at them blind. they only get real details when they are progressed to interview

AJ1510 · 02/09/2020 09:33

Has anyone heard anything for the north east? X

Raintonrebel · 02/09/2020 09:55

No not yet. From another forum I'm on its taking roughly 4/5 weeks from final interview closing date so I would expect we will hear something in the next 2 weeks or so.

AJ1510 · 02/09/2020 11:10

I’m not hopeful as I think my interview went really badly. But fingers crossed we get to know soon. I’ll still apply again if I’m not successful now I’ve had the experience of the video interview I’ll be better prepared xx

Hi i'm currently doing a course to help me on my way to becoming a work coach but am really struggling to write a 1200 word personal statement. Any hints and tips would be greatly received!

Good luck to all those who are currently going through interviews, i'm sure i'll be back for additional help if i'm lucky enough to get to interview stage.

Hi @Tokidoki78 what course are you doing please? It sounds very interesting Smile
janesav1 · 07/09/2020 17:43

Hi can someone give me any tips on getting through the test?

janesav1 · 07/09/2020 18:43

Hi Can you give any tips regarding the test please? Kind regards

Tokidoki78 · 16/09/2020 11:38

@Thiswillbeinteresting sorry for the delay in replying, the course was something that has been set up with one of local colleges in conjunction with the job centre. It's based on customer service and employability to see if you can meet the success profiles and know equality and diversity. I did find it very interesting, I managed to finally write a personal statement.
I've applied for a work coach job today and had to write a 500 word personal statement, I'm not too sure if it's any good but here's hoping. I've also completed the situational judgement test and hope that i'll at least progress to interview stage. Fingers crossed.

Tokidoki78 · 16/09/2020 11:42

@janesav1 I take it you are looking at the situational judgement test.
I did one this morning, I didn't think it was too bad. I think it is a case of looking at what you think the best outcome would be. I sort of put myself in that person's shoes and used logic of what I would do in that situation.
I'm not sure if this is helpful. :)

janesav1 · 16/09/2020 11:49

@Tokidoki78 that’s very helpful, can I also ask did you have to do a verbal test for the work coach job please? Thanks very much x

Thiswillbeinteresting · 16/09/2020 12:26

Thanks @Tokidoki78 I'll keep an eye out for similar courses. Best of luck in your application Smile

Best of luck to everyone in their applications Flowers

janesav1 · 16/09/2020 14:01

@AJ1510 Hi,for this application did you sit a verbal reasoning test, or just the situational judgement test? Thanks

Tokidoki78 · 23/09/2020 15:33

Hi sorry for delay currently looking at all sorts of jobs, put in another application for work coach in a different area. No verbal test just the situational test. Still waiting to hear if i've made it to interview stage. x

Hi everyone! I am also applying to be a work coach with the DWP! I am just studying now for the interview but I am so nervous(im not very good at interviews) Any help would be much appreciated like what questions they ask you etc..... Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone that applied for the position xxx

JMG35 · 07/10/2020 23:20

I have recently completed a video interview and I am just waiting on the outcome. I thought I would give you a rundown of how it went.

I found it to be a smooth easy process from start to finish. You get a few tips on how to set up your webcam, what lighting is best, setting it at eye level, etc. You get a practice question before you begin, mine was “Tell us why you applied for this role” you can watch this back and re-record this one as many times as you like before you start the main interview.
You click Start Interview and you get the question in text format and also it is read out by a person on the video. I then got 2 minutes to think about what I was going to say before it started recording. This is an ideal time to refer to any notes that you have at hand. You can answer the question sooner by just pressing the start button. I got three minutes to answer each question and there were 6 in total.

My questions were -Tell us about a time you delivered great customer service. - How would you explain complex information to someone and make sure they understand? - How would you feel about making an important decision if you didn’t have all the information? - Tell me about a time when you dealt with a difficult customer - Tell me about a time when you had conflicting deadlines - Can you give an example of a difficult conversation you had to have with someone, how you went about it and what the outcome was. It took me just over 30 minutes to complete.
I hope this helps – and GOOD LUCK to all

JMG35!!! Thankyou for your help, much appreciated. This is very helpful. I hope you get the job xxx

Hello,

I recently applied for the work coach role (September's Batch), I passed the SJT a week ago and wondered if someone could give me an idea of how long they waited to hear if they had progressed to pre-recorded interview stage? It just says ' You will be contacted to review the next steps shortly'
Thanks you

Advice for anyone who hasn’t done the video interview yet. I am currently assessing similar videos, not for DWP but for another large public body with a similar process.
The success of the example doesn’t matter, the process does. So even if you saved 25 orphans from a burning building if you dont tick the boxes it’s irrelevant.
It’s not about making you look good, it’s about demonstrating certain behaviours
Make sure you say what you learnt/ would change
Show how you engaged others
Show resilience/ability to adapt
You can use a work example but if it’s just a basic part of your job then it’s not a great one
Don’t waffle - some of the best replies are the shortest
Speak slowly
Dont fidget
Look smart
Have a neutral backdrop
Can’t think of anything else but happy to answer questions

Victoria777 · 13/10/2020 10:11

Hey Everyone! I applied for the work coach position 12 days ago and I have not heard anything back, is this normal or does it simply mean I did not get the job? x
