Hello,
I did my VI on 3rd Dec - haven't heard as yet.
How did yours go? :)

bluelefant · 09/12/2020 14:50

I had my no exactly a week after submitting my interview so maybe it just takes them a bit longer to process.
Fingers crossed it'll be a yes for you this time.

Peg119 · 09/12/2020 15:29

Thanks @Louise2288 and @bluelefant.
I think it went better this time and have worked hard on ensuring I have the right examples.
Fingers crossed! I’d really like to be successful this time. How did yours go?

Louise2288 · 09/12/2020 15:36

Mine went ok, wasn't questions I was expecting but I had prepared alot. Its hard to tell as sometimes I think I did ok, then other times I'm not sure I hit the criteria they want. I did my best so fingers crossed for us :)

Update: I had an email today asking me to upload my Right to work documents (RTW) so I guess that means I've passed the interview stage. From another forum I have been looking at, its a long long process to formal offer and location !
But another step forward. Good luck everyone :)

Congratulations, if you don't mind me asking which region are you in?

Good luck to everyone else who's still in the same boat as me and waiting to hear back.

Louise2288 · 11/12/2020 21:08

Thank you. I applied for mid-north Wales but waiting & hoping Cheshire comes up b 4 end of year to apply for areas there as more are closer for me. U?

Peg119 · 11/12/2020 23:03

Well done @Louise2288! Let’s hope I have the same result 😊.
Do you know what’s next after the RTW?

Louise2288 · 11/12/2020 23:47

Stay positive. Its RTW followed by a video call to view them. Then pre employment checks (PEC) DBS and I'm sure on the application info that can take approx 25 days..
I can add a link / thread on here if anyone wants it where people talk about the recruitment process and their experiences.

Hellotheresweet · 16/12/2020 10:23

@Louise2288

Louise2288 · 16/12/2020 20:17

Hi everyone, hope you are all keeping well!

This link is a site I found when doing some research into the work coach role, SJT / Interviews / process, before I applied
Copy this link below:-

Hi,

Has anyone done the DWP Work Coach interview for December 2020? Would anyone be willing to disclose the questions? I am fully aware of the 3 categories but am wondering how they will word each question for each category. Thanks everyone.

sammylou2580 · 18/12/2020 15:17

Hi,

Has anyone completed the DWP interview for December 2020 that would be willing to disclose the questions asked against the 3 categories please? Thanks.

Louise2288 · 18/12/2020 18:05

Hi Sammylou2580,

I did my interview a few weeks back now. Your right in 3 categories.

Its 3 behaviors, 2 questions on each however, I didn't write the questions down as you only have 1 minute to prepare your answer, so I didn't have any time to do that.
I did do a lot of prep work and wrote various answers on each behavior, I also read the work coach competency framework which is now 'Success profiles' for each behavior, and answered the questions using the STAR format.

I know the questions I got were not the ones I have read on here, or elsewhere, I do remember that, they were longer.

They may randomly select a set of questions on the pre recorded-video interview, I'm not sure.

Good luck :)

So I have received an email asking for my RTW docs and one of them wasn’t accepted after the deadline given... does that mean the offer will be retracted? I’m so confused!

sammylou2580 · 20/12/2020 17:48

Thank you

Jayne777777 · 23/12/2020 22:19

I decided not to do the interview as I was that nervous and didnt have hardly any examples prepared.

Ifyoudidntlaugh · 16/01/2021 05:30

Hi... after reading all of your posts over the past weeks, I thought it might help if I share my DWP experience.

I passed the first assessment rounds and was invited to a virtual interview in December. It went ok. (Phew! It was worth all the prep then!)

Early January, I received an email asking me to upload my RTW docs followed by a virtual interview to show these docs in person. Thus second interview went well and, when I asked if this meant I was getting a job, the chap said: “Definitely. Yes, you should get an email shortly. Possibly even later today.” (Yay... but still not counting my chickens just yet!)

The next day, I received an email saying:

“**Congratulations, you've passed your interview. We've sent a job offer via email; please login to the Application Centre to accept. Thanks, Recruitment Team”

(Woop! Massive woop!)

Of course, I accepted the job offer straight away and started quietly planning the best way to travel to the 5 locations I’d put down.

The next day, I received this:
“ Thank you for accepting our provisional offer for the above position. As this offer of employment is provisional subject to the satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, you should not resign from your present employment (if any) at this stage.”

“Provisional” twice! Okay...noted. A bit of a step back from the earlier “Congrats you’ve got the job” email and positive vibes after the RTW interview..? Still, security is important... so I filled in my forms immediately. (I’m Ms UK Average and have had security clearance before so, with no skeletons in the cupboard, I still felt quietly confident that the job offer would stand. After all, that’s what usually happens during recruitment processes, right..?

Next day I received another email:

“Thank you for attending the pre-recorded video interview. (Several emails back?) This vacancy attracted a number of highly qualified applicants and after careful consideration of all of the applications we are sorry to tell you that you have not been selected for appointment. However, as you were a strong candidate we would like to keep your name on a reserve list. This list will be valid for 3 months from the date of this correspondence and if another vacancy arises for the same position we will contact you. This email does not constitute a job offer.”

Eh..? Sorry...? What...?

I’m gobsmacked!

Did someone send me the earlier job offer in error then? A joke, maybe? An admin error???

I’ve asked for feedback. No response.

This is inconsistent, badly written and cruel messaging from DWP... it is just wrong to send people a “job offer” and then to dash them a few days later. Fair enough, if you don’t pass the tests or checks and withdraw your offer on the basis of unsuitability... but to clearly offer a job and then immediately retract this for a place on the “reserve list” is wrong. This shows an incompetent recruitment and retention processes - as well as very poor communications standards.

Reading posts on Mumsnet and Student Room, I can see that lots of other people have had a similar experience - but that doesn’t make it right. It’s entirely wrong.

It’s like BoJo’s ‘Go to work. Don’t go to work’ mixed messaging all over again. I’m so not impressed!

DWP are clearly just backfilling their recruitment pool. Fair enough, lots of local authorities do this too - the difference is they make it very clear where you stand throughout the process. This DWP recruitment process simply leaves a nasty taste.

Anyhoo, I’m interviewing elsewhere now and all’s fair in love and recruitment... clearly just not with the DWP.

Good luck to everyone here - it’s been so helpful reading all your DWP posts. I hope you all get the positive emails you deserve and the jobs your working hard to secure. Please just don’t be like me and count your chickens too soon... wait until your goose is well ‘n’ truly cooked... and in the bag! 😉 Lots of luck 🍀

fionatan · 21/01/2021 15:29

thank you for these tips... interview tomorrow

Louise2288 · 21/01/2021 18:13

@Ifyoudidntlaugh

I have had the exact same process and experience as you, all the same emails etc.
I to0 prepared very hard for my VI interview and like yourself I am on reserve list. Reading info on the 'Student room' forum also, some people has said they have been taken off reserve when the campaign is released in there area again. But its all uncertain for sure.
Just as well I still have a job working from home and haven't just relied on this.

I've read some horror stories where people have resigned, employers been contacted for refs and they have then been put on reserve.... eeeek 'awkward'!!!
Also, one person got a formal offer handed in their notice and the offer was withdrawn! As they had made a mistake!

I wish myself and you all the very best of luck :) x

dazmaniandevil · 01/03/2021 22:14

I had this same issue. I was told back in November I had a job and that I was going to be contacted over the weekend to discuss placement and start date. I thought great as I was being made redundant in the January, All through December and January I was calling twice a week to ask for updates as I hadn't heard anything, was told don't worry you do have a job and your not on the reserve list, just waiting as they can't get you in to train. I thought not a problem I can wait, then end of January I got email to say 'Thank you for attending interview we are sorry to tell you that you have not been selected for appointment, However we would like to keep your name on the reserve list until 31st of March' to say I was disappointed and upset would be a lie.

KimW01 · 06/03/2021 12:33

I have an online interview on Monday 8/3/21 for a position as a DWP Work Coach.
I have been reading the comments covering what was asked, which is really helpful, but has anyone taken the interview very recently and if so could advise what questions they were asked?
Thanks.

Louise2288 · 06/03/2021 16:09

Hello.
I think you will struggle to get anyone who would have had time to write them down in the 1 minute prep time. Mine were a paragraph type question and nothing like i had read anywhere. I think they are random and change with each campaign.
Good luck

XiCi · 06/03/2021 17:38

Look on glass door KimW01 loads of posters on there with recent interviews who have posted the 6 questions. I have till tomorrow aft to complete my interview. Just doing some last minute prep and will probably get it over with tonight. I'll try and get back on with the questions for you.

KimW01 · 06/03/2021 18:35

XiCi
Thank you, that would be really helpful.
Good luck with your interview.
Louise2288
Were they questions all based on the behaviours and asking for you to give an example of how you met them and were there two questions on each?
Not looking forward to it!
Thank you
