When we offered to make some Little Hugs for Yorkhill Hospital, we also talked to them about their Christmas Fundraiser.
As part of our support, we offered to help by making some little things that could be sold on a craft stall to help raise funds for the hospital.

So here we are, asking you if you could help in anyway.
If you could make one small thing, we would be so grateful.

We have an idea of the types of things that have been popular in the past and have a few idea of our own such as:

Little hats
Little cardis
Christmas Decorations
Little bags and purses
Christmas stockings
Bunting
Knitted or crocheted softies
Brooches
Cotton washcloths
Napkins
Coasters
Stocking fillers

Although it is a Christmas event, the goodies needn't necessarily be Christmassy.

Any other suggestions are welcomed with open arms

If you have any patterns or links that would help to inspire others we'd be grateful for those too.

We have a Last Posting date of 17th November so that we can ensure that all the goodies arrive in time for the Christmas event.

As always, thank you so much for your support.

Thanks

What are the rules about homemade toys? I am kipping through my "craft miscellany" board and like this marble maze

SoupDragon · 03/10/2012 10:50

Salt dough cookie tags?
Angel wings
Not one for this project but this travel lap trap is genius.

Here is a lovely free knitting pattern for Christmas stockings : there are three, one with a cable pattern, one with a candy trip attern and one with an "Nordic star". The Millamia wool is a lovely fine merino wool, but you could do them on size 4 needles with the Cashmerino/Cashsoft, SUblime or Stylecraft wools - the finished stocking would just be a slightly different size.

prettybird · 03/10/2012 12:27

The Nordic star also adapts beautifully for a square for a Woolly Hug, as I've just done one :)

prettybird · 03/10/2012 12:35

Better link to the patterns. The stockings really are very beautiful :)

DontCallMeBaby · 03/10/2012 15:55

Okay, teeny weeny hats a possibility if Xmas themed and with loop attached for tree. I can't knit baby hats as I can't knit in the round. Yet.

Actual bunting pattern here: www.woolfest.co.uk/what-is-woolfest/bunting.htm

You could also use this method, increase, for the knitted tree decs; or the tree method, decrease, for bunting. Decreasing is slightly easier than increasing, but with the increase method you can stop when you get bored. With decreasing you HAVE to keep going till you get down to one stitch!

With the increase method triangles end up about with their length about 1.5 times their width (long sides 1.75 times the length of the short side).

LOVE the mini bags.

Marking my place while I have a think. Depending on how my other projects go I might do something with bears and flowers

stressedHEmum · 03/10/2012 17:49

I will try to do something. Everything is way behind, though, because I've been really ill the last couple of weeks.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/10/2012 17:50

So many lovely ideas and links. I have just put them all together onto the Woolly Hugs website which will hopefully make it easier to find things as we go along.

They even have their own page Here which is in the Crafting Guide section

And just for Minnie, all links open in a new window Wine Smile

We'll just keep adding to it. What it did show was that Team Hooker went bonkers with lots of suggestions and that Team Knitty have a way to catch up

SoupDragon · 03/10/2012 17:57

The snowman link is going through to my PInterest link rather than the actual snowmen.

I guess I stuffed up the original link :o

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/10/2012 18:02

do you have the actual snowman pattern Soupy, or shall I just take it off?

SoupDragon · 03/10/2012 18:09

You can get it by clicking the Pinterest link so its not entirely wrong...

Umami · 03/10/2012 18:16

Look here Soupy you lot, I'd given up Pinterest. I was over it. Don't draw me back in, I've too much to do......

Umami · 03/10/2012 18:17

I completely have to have those snowmen.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/10/2012 18:22
