Following on from the call for quilters and knitters here, this thread is for those who would like to in contribe a square so that we can make a quilt for EdgarAleNPie and her family.

Your square needs to be:

7" square
cotton or polycotton
pre-washed to avoid shrinkage
zigzagged or overlocked around the edges, if possible
Any colour
If appliqued, using cotton
Can be embroidered
Any design to be in the central 6" square
Can send plain squares too

Details regarding posting, etc, to follow.

Many thanks.

Betty, that sound lovely! Although a funny looking fish would've been nice too Grin.

The stitching sounds fine. Could you go around again if you're not sure?

A flying fish? Grin

Yes, but now I've seen what everyone else has produced!! [wail]

KnottyLocks · 05/04/2011 17:15

Ignore them, Soupy. Think character and individuality Grin

Er, and impressionism.

That'll be the look I'm stuck with Grin

Still not got round to posting. Found an envelope, but am now awaiting stamps... do I have to give my star back?

Betty, sounds like yours should be fine as they are. I'm very impressed at anyone with the patience for handsewing! You could try a quick square done in the same way and put it through a rigorous wash to see if it holds up?

SoupDragon · 05/04/2011 18:46

Impressionism... so I just need to send something that gives the impression of being a square for a quilt?

KnottyLocks · 05/04/2011 19:21

Indeed, Soupy. 7 x 7 inches of cotton. Done. No need for fancy decor either. Smile

there is a pic on my profile of my square in progress...skiffler, you see that is what I'm worried about - not standing up to a rigorous wash! I think I will try stitching over all the pieces again tonight. Also have to block my two knitted squares tonight.

Posted it today! Good luck Pixie with all the little parcels that will be arriving, it should be quite some post

Finally posted them! Wasn't sure what postage was required since it was so heavy, didn't know if the large 1st class would be enough and couldn't get out to PO because DS2 had the pox. Sorted it yesterday and it should be with pixie soonish.

habbibu · 07/04/2011 20:18

Well, mine's up, and a pretty scrappy affair - should cheer you up, soupy... But will post it tomorrow morning.

KnottyLocks · 08/04/2011 14:40

Finally, I've finished.
One appliqued little blue car with a balloon
One 4 patch square with a appliqued butterfly (possibly frog Hmm) and flowers.
Can't find my camera lead so can't post pics - you're not missing much though Grin
Off to the post office this afternoon.

Mine went in the post today! Forgot to take a photo beforehand, though! Have done one with a doggie patch sewn on and another were I appliquéd an apple with a little worm munching it! Hoping that they are ok. Just been having a nosy at all of the photos and they are all lovely. Can't wait to see the finished quilt. Smile

WillieWaggledagger · 10/04/2011 11:19

posted mine yesterday but VERY worried i didn't make the last post. Will it be too late if it doesn't catch the post on Monday? (sorry to be hopeless)

purplerabbitofinle · 10/04/2011 15:56

LOTM has pics on her profile (I think) and also pics of both are in an album on www.facebook.com/mimapants Smile

KBlatherskite · 11/04/2011 13:48

I've finished one of my squares but am really not sure it's good enough Sad

purplerabbitofinle · 11/04/2011 14:23

Of course it's good enough, KB. You have put care and effort in. The visual result is distinctly unimportant in this case Smile

Blatherskite · 11/04/2011 15:04

Yes but we also wanted the finished quilt to last past the first wash!!

I'll post them anyway (unedged I'm afraid - sewing machine still bust and I'm wary of messing the squares up further) but will understand of they don't make it onto the finished quilt.

jerURSULAmBuffay · 11/04/2011 15:08

Oh Goygoy you used the fabric I sent- what a lovely job you've made of it too! Grin

Blatherskite · 11/04/2011 15:10

Photo on profile. They look OK but are not so good in RL. One is a hot air balloon and the other is the constellation Leo.

purplerabbitofinle · 11/04/2011 15:19

They look lovely!

Bettymum · 12/04/2011 08:56

Aeroplane/fish in the post. Wish I could have done more :(.
Blatherskite, I think your squares are lovely, I particularly like the hot air balloon.

Mirage · 12/04/2011 16:09
