Following on from the call for quilters and knitters here, this thread is for those who would like to in contribe a square so that we can make a quilt for EdgarAleNPie and her family.

Your square needs to be:

7" square
cotton or polycotton
pre-washed to avoid shrinkage
zigzagged or overlocked around the edges, if possible
Any colour
If appliqued, using cotton
Can be embroidered
Any design to be in the central 6" square
Can send plain squares too

Details regarding posting, etc, to follow.

Many thanks.

Bebe, how's your thumb holding up?

Thumb is fine thanks! I have finished the embroidery on the train, just need to zig zag & trim the edges. Not sure it actually looks like a train Confused but nevermind, hope it's ok!

Bebe, that's artistic licence, my lovely.

I too will be embracing the impressionist approach Grin

I'm posting mine today, my friend who is not a MNer but does a lot of gorgeous sewing was moved to do a square too, so I'll be sending three with love.

JustKeepSwimming · 30/03/2011 11:26

Mine is in the post :)

bebejones · 30/03/2011 16:46

I will hopefully finish my train one off 2moro & post it then! :)

Ormirian · 30/03/2011 16:49

I have given up trying to find nice fabric round here so I have bought some pinking sheers and will try to search out DS1's old duvet cover - first one he had for a 'big' bed. I made 2 of them and matching curtains. DS2 is still using one and the curtains.

KnottyLocks · 30/03/2011 18:01

Peerie, can you please tell your friend that she has been awarded a gold star? How very lovely of her Smile

JustKeepSwimming

Bebe, will you posting a pic of your train? I need to Envy at it! Grin

Orm, an excellent eco plan and there's a lovely history attached to your square too Smile

goygoy · 31/03/2011 12:47

Ormirian They are lovely! I'm glad you have done this, I'm making my squares from a couple of items of clothing my DD has grown out of. Wasn't sure if it would be appropriate but I agree with KnottyLocks about the squares having some history. And I've also received some beautiful donated fabric, thank you to whoever sent that! Smile

nickelbabyhatcher · 31/03/2011 13:04

nickelbabyhatcher · 31/03/2011 13:05

Mirage · 31/03/2011 13:23

I've snuck off work an hour early [well,it was too windy to get anything done, honest] and aim to get another 2 finished and in the post today.

bebejones · 31/03/2011 14:22

Right - square done and posted. I used favourite fabric from my hoard - some are from DC's baby clothes. It's a bit naive and wonky but stitched with love.

bebejones · 01/04/2011 09:20

Train square finished and on profile, shall go & post it in a bit! I'm not sure it's very train like Confused looks more like a tractor to me but asked DD & she said it was a train & she should know...she's 2 and a half & never wrong! Hmm

KnottyLocks · 01/04/2011 09:48

Calico, that is very cute indeed. Smile I like naive and wonky: adds character. Gold Star!

Bebe, of course it looks like a train and is as lovely as the flowers Envy. Best you have a gold star too.
